A friend and I use to administer a forum called goodgamed.com where it was a forum dedicated to allowing anybody to flame or debate about anything. Ad hominems of all extent was allowed. That was the sole purpose of the forum. It was great but we decided to take it down for business reasons.

That's interesting information you've told me there. That explains many things concerning how some of the mods are then.

I really don't even understand how people can take any amount of pride in being a moderator to the point that it'd get to their heads. That or they seriously just don't know how to be moderators. As I've mentioned before I've moderated and even administrated forums of varying population sizes. One thing that was standard was to, not only leave a reason behind every action for the public, but also to keep a log of every action, big or small, with the reason behind it, in the moderator section of the forum.

If an action was noticed that did not have a log, we would be penalized and eventually lose moderator status.

The problem usually stems from when mods confuse moderating forums with policing. Many mods forget that policing a forum isn't the original intention of any moderator, but rather to maintain spam, regulate double posts, multiple threads, basically any form of organization and the enforcing of forum rules should only be done with a greater regard for the user's perspective rather than using a condescending tone such as that of police mentality.

Also, being against debate and arguments is flat out stupid as the purpose for forums is discussion. And with any discussion, it's true value and health usually draws itself from debate/argument. Some of the forums I've moderated went as far as allowing flaming to a certain extent before it was given a warning. And by warning I don't even mean automatically adding a warning note on the user's profile, just a verbal one.

That was my biggest suspicion as well about why I was temp banned. It was pretty blatantly obvious it was only due to the fact that I was always on the opposing end of arguments. People easily dislike my style and persona that I give off (that's the point).

I mean cmon, for referencing the slang usage of the word "nigga", not even using it in slang form myself? I mean, even if I did, it shouldn't be a ban because it's not used in a racial manner. It doesn't even refer to a race when it's used in that way rofl. I've been saying that word since I was a kid here in Brooklyn, and you know what the funny thing is? All my life, not a single black person has ever complained about it, the only people to complain about it are white males who would, for instance, ban me from their ventrilo for saying it, LOL.

In any case, it was pretty obvious why I was banned. The abuse of power on this site and the lack of regulated usage of that is alarming. One would think that the main admin would regulate such power abuse. I know I would.

I agree. Nayah is also the one who completely ignored a long and well written message of mine inquiring clarification of that issue concerning my temp ban at the time. No response and it's been like 3 weeks since then. Kimura was the one who did the banning without prior notice as well. Both of them seem to be the shadiest of the mods on here.

Bloodcalibur | 03-26-12, 7:39 AM
Wtf lol did they seriously close that thread while implying that OUR latest posts in particular were off topic? In that case, the thread had already gone off topic from the get go because the discussion went straight into a discussion about moderator usage on this site.

And technically all of that is on topic because it's bringing up the issue of how things like that are common on this site as an answer to the OP's inquiry.

Thanks for that open minded post on that thread =). I appreciate anyone with such an open mind.

1.) I have been through alot of experiences in the past year and have learned more about myself and mostly about "how to apply ____ in ____" if that makes sense. So I'm a more practical person and a more practical thinker rather than just paying attention to the abstract. I also decided that my goal in life is to make manga/anime, perhaps learn to draw and produce everything myself (although ofc find funding elsewhere if possible, and I'd have to learn Japanese and Mandarin if I wanted to get anywhere, but its all possible for me.) since I am talented as a musician, writer, and as an actor. So I decided what my passions were and am striving for that new goal.

2.) :( no me gusta

3.) That's freakin awesome! I protested thru the means of forums at first and informed mostly the Yugioh, anime, music, and art communities about the down sides of SOPA/PIPA. As for ACTA, I am only informing the Yugioh and Anime communities know about it as I wouldn't get so much support from the latter two in the first place. As for my real life situation, I let my friends inform each other on FB, Twitter, and Tumblr. They all eventually figured it out when Wikipedia blacked out. I feel the same, but on a larger scale, will happen come June when ACTA is about to be initialized. As for now, I sense cyber wars between agents of the FBI vs agents of Anonymous/Lulzsec/random hackers/etc. It's ugly.

1.) I am dandy and a smarter person now.

2.) AWWW NOOO D: that is sad!

3.) same here, I have downloaded SOOOO many titles w/ subtitles BEFORE Megaupload got stripped down, as much stuff as I can salvage from other file sharing sites into harddrives as I can. Also got some video games, a ton of music, im on a spree lol. I've also become a political activist for these anti-sopa/pipa/acta things, so I found another purpose in life.
