According to a scan of Weekly Shounen Magazine's upcoming issue, Nanatsu no Taizai will be adapted into a TV anime. More information will be released at a later time.

The magazine first ran Nakaba Suzuki's same-titled one-shot in November 2011, before the series began serialization in October 2012. Seven volumes have been published so far, with the eighth to be released on April 17th.

Aside from the first volume, all currently released manga volumes have charted #6 or higher in their debut on Oricon's Weekly Manga Rankings, with volume 7 achieving second place. The manga further ranked 4th in this year's Manga Taisho award list.

I'm not surprised at all that this is happening. I'm looking forward to it. I hope a good studio will pick it up.

I knew this would get an anime which is why I haven't read the manga. Now I'll wait for the anime and after it's over I'll read the manga.

A bit too early imho (could have waited until the mangaka gathered a certain group of individuals completely), but this is amazing news!
Let's hope Madhouse gets to do this (HxH staff, please) and not the likes of A-1, Toei and Pierrot...

I also hope this is not a neverending adaption, but one with fixed cours.

What Fairy Tail is to One Piece is what this is to Dragon Ball. Tbf i only read just over 5 chapters but it was more than enough to leave my tear ducts completely dry from the boredom.

Interesting. Can't tell if this is a good manga cause I've only read the crossover chaps with FT. Now an anime adaption huh? Lets just hope there's something worthwhile about this for everyone.

oh btw, i think that they need some time( more manga chapters) to complete an anime season to have an arc material. Anyway the sad thing is that from the setup, this aint gonna be an anime to air for too long since the plot seems to be specific, and thus this could end at anytime.Anyway looking forward to it and i beg they dont turn this into any kind of ridiculous ecchi. ENDLESS ACTION FTW.

It seems too early.. Hm, I don't know what to think about this, hoping it does not get an anime ending and stick closely to the manga.. Well, they can stop before the current arc, because I think it's a good place to end although I bet it will raise a lot more questions to the anime-only viewer..
I cannot bring myself to rate anime that I have completed below 5. Well, it just because I have use up my precious time to watch it. so, the worse you will get from me is 5 (changes may apply)

Great news! I've been following the manga for a long time, and it's one of the most enjoyable shounen series I've read in years. Looking forward to the anime adaptation, interested to see who voices my favourite character, Diane.

I don't know why but this feels like an A-1 production, maybe 'cause mostly they have been animating popular shounen manga.

Given the magazine and their track record in recent years I have to agree. However, one can still hope Madhouse gets the rights.

I think you're using the word 'rights' incorrectly here. Studios very rarely(kyoani is one of the expections to this rule) get the rights to an anime series.

True, and the main group has more than just one female protagonist.

A 2-cour is possible. Anything longer would be a real stretch.

That happens all the time with manga & LN's. 2 years is plenty of time.

Fantastic news, great series and the anime will boost the manga sales a lot (hopefully). Done right it could reach FT level of sales.

This I agree with so much, gives the mangaka breathing room and prevents the series from entering filler hell (Naruto) or padding (One Piece).

That ecchi tag is disappointing.

But apparently this manga is actually good according to everybody's reaction here.

There is no excessive fanservice (not like Fairy Tail for example).

I would have wished they would announced this news like after the curent arc, at least... I wonder if it'll be a long-run anime or a 2 cours. A long-run would be better, but now, there is not enough material for them to keep it at 70 ep and more, without filler.

The issue is that people view this as a long runner and you need more of a cushion so you don't get close to the manga right away.

I also hope for a long-runner adaptation, but is true that with the current material available they will have to put fillers even before reaching 40 episodes. That's not good.

Still hyped as fuck for this news.

But the thing is that currently there's only 73 manga chapters. That's not enough for even 40 episodes of anime, so they will have to use a lot of fillers very early.

I think that's the best option right now.
I guess that the studio who's going to do this could do what Madhouse does with some of their adaptations: Make a 2-cour season adapting all available source material, wait for more manga chapters to come out, make another season and so on.

Although i still wanted this to be a long-runner :(
