Ratings:
Anime:
'Mathes's scores average about 1.51 points lower than the average scores posted by other members.'
tells me my list, so it seems that my judgment on anime is a bit harsher then most people.
I think my rating schema is pretty common
(through I have seen many people set their average at 7/8 and not at 5/6)
but there are also lots of folks that are even worse then me. ;)

10 - so damn superb that I could watch it over and over again
9 - awesome, I have nearly nothing to complain about here
8 - something I enjoyed very much for most parts of the show
7 - it lacked something from time to time, but had it's moments
6 - for most parts still quite watchable
5 - pretty bland or boring for most parts, but it has at least a few good points
4 - not really something I'd suggest people to watch
3 - if I hear a discussion about this, you'll most likely see me join it on the contra site
2 - stay away
1 - I wonder why I started watching this in the first place..

Manga:
Not read many manga, so I'm a bit more loose with manga scores.

In the order I watched it
Based on the first episodes

- yet to be completed -

Toradora!

This was one of the shows I looked forward the most, since I read it's manga which was downright great. Of course when something gets adapted from a manga you know you always have the fear of the producers screwing up everything and turning your previous show into totally unfitting the manga filled with, for example panty shots every few seconds.
So I watched the first episode of ToraDora with some fear that was mostly without reason as I had to notice in the process of it.
The overall animation isn't that shabby though there are some oddnesses.
Midori got some kind of Yandere-look that would more likely fit into Higurashi then in ToraDora and Taigas eyes look nearly as scary as Ryu's eyes too me.
Kugimiya Rie's voice fits, like in most tsundere/violent girl cases, Taiga quite good, though I'd have loved to maybe see some other voice actor for this kind of girl again maybe, since after the third season of Zero no Tsukaima, which I unfortunately watched, her voice starts to get on my nerves.
Plot wise the anime stays very accurate on the manga and if it stays like that this will definably be one of my favorite shows this season.
Expected Score: 6-8/10

Clannad ~After Story~

More Clannad to come? Ok, if there's no Fuko, I'm in!
But I bet there will be, was what I thought so I didn't really want to start this first, till I stumbled on someone, saying that they will use parts of Tomoyo After, so it seems I watched it after all.
What I got were Fillers but at least no Fuko(!) and a Tomoyo trying to act more like a normal girl as well as the usual Clannad Comedy which is from my point of view, it's best selling point and I hope they don't fall back in this aspect.
Expected Score: 6-7/10

Hyakko

Straight ahead!
Expected Score:7-8/10

Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka

Kugimiya Rie, again... please no.
Expected Score: 3-6/10

Casshern Sins

Wraahrr... Robots... tasty..
Expected Score: 5-7/10

Kannagi

I want a god in my tree too.
Expected Score: 5-6/10

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Index!
Expected Score: 7-9/10

Kyou no Go no Ni TV

"What Kyou no Go no Ni gets a TV show - Heck yeah!" was my first reaction when I heard about this after seeing the great OVA's - now quite some time ago.
What I got was, maybe to be expected, a reproduction of what we already saw in the ova's. Not that I didn't enjoy it, especially since it has been quite a while since I saw it last, but since there wasn't anything new yet that is of course a little bit disappointing and also leaves me with nothing much to write about here.
Quality of sound and animation were a little bit lower then what we saw in the ova but didn't really bother me.
Just hoping they show us something new soon and don't try to show us the whole ova first again.
Expected Score: 4-7/10

Tales of the Abyss

More Tales...
Expected Score: 6-7/10

Macademi WAsshoi!

This looked so horrible I had to drop it after watching half of the episode.
Maybe I'll give it a shot again for the sake of not dropping after the first episode.
Expected Score: 2-3/10

Kuroshitsuji

Beware of the Yaoi-Fangirl and the Shortacon!
Expected Score: 5-7/10

Ga-Rei -Zero-

Somehow always when the word 'Zero' appears in an Anime I have to think of Zero Louise, though this anime is more like the complete opposite of that.
It starts of showing a man, looking a bit like Hei from Darker then Black, standing in front of a grave and thinking about someone who died in a similar cause like the one currently taking place in the background. Her death seems to be the caused by someone looking like a kid with the trademark of blue butterflies.
So in this world there seem to exist for normal eyes invisible monsters that are sorted in different Categories (A, B, C) by their streight. While Category C looks like some kind of ghost, Category B resembles more a dinosaurs and Category A looks just like a human.
Those monsters just seem to appear somewhere from time to time and the job of our 'heros' is to fight them.
And after a finished mission you sit together, drink hot coffee and uhm.. die.

For me as I did not expect anything from this the episode I saw was awesome. Very confusing but great.
Noticeable were the great sound that made even some of the more monotonic battles interesting.
This anime has a good potential from my point of view and delivers us the most 'what is going to happen next' feeling from all first episodes I've seen so far.
Expected Score: 7-9/10

Shikabane Hime: Aka

Another Dark Anime with a great title was what I thought when I heard this.
A corpse princess? A horror anime with lots of revived moving corpses, slaughter, blood, gore and a princess standing on top of that all bringing the ultimate horror over her victims, Tomie Style o/.
What did I get? An immortal undead school girl with guns having to fight Shikabane's - living corpses that devour humans in order to "live" on.
Ok, that's not exactly what I had imagined but still possessing quite some charm.
On top of that we have fine Gainax Animation and fitting sound as well as an awesome ED theme.
From my point of view that looks quite promising and has lots of potential that just waits for being used here.
Expected Score: 6-8/10

Yozakura Quartet

Watch Zettai Karen Children instead.
Expected Score: 3-5/10

ef - a tale of melodies

great start
Expected Score: 7-9/10

More to come... probably...

As you may guess from the title I've been to London for the past days
so here is my story.

If you have no interest in hearing about some dude's boring tourist trip, reading further is not recommended.
Also if you are from Britain don't take everything too serious.
;)

I'm not the richest, so a nice silver shining mecha touring bus was the vehicle transporting my all mighty being to the other world this city called London.
Start of the journey was 18:30 (6:30pm) at Cologne in Germany - well at least it shouldhave have been at that time. But that was not entirely the case as I soon had to notice, when after half an hour there was still nothing insight except the other passengers angrily attacking the poor guy from the travel agency with questions of the bus's remain. That went on for a while more till after some more wait, some hot coffee and a tasty donut our ship.. pardon I mean bus finally arrived and the crowd including my humble person floated inside.

My plan was to sleep inside the bus which was not that good of an idea as I had to find out that our driver had to always make an announcement over the speakers when someone managed to find some sleep. But after I-don't-know-how-many hours of 'good and refreshing' sleep we arrived around 6:00 (English Time) in the morning at the end of this weeping world London Victoria Coach Station.

Great thing was now that of course I already had booked a place to stay at in advance - not. Well at least I had the addresses of London's Youth Hostels noted down and made myself on the way trying to find one that would take me in for a while. I took my luggage and made my way to Victora Station. Here I first took a look at Londons Tube Map, which managed to amaze me quite a bit and then continuing my way this labyrinth of machines, stairs, lodes, escalators, tubes, busker, advertising and finally trains.

My first halt was Oxford Circus and I hurried back from this dark and tube hell to the sunlight.
Sunlight? Well it was brighter then back down in the depths of the underground but a nice typical British weather had already weaponed itself with the best of Water to give me a wet-happy greeting from above.
After finding out that Oxford's Youth Hostel was already fully booked and most of the other Youth Hostels as well I went on to Holland Park.

Holland- What!?
With a very bad feeling (see left side) I made my way through the park expecting Oranjes to jump on the way from both sides at any time.
To my luck there were none that showed themselves to me and I was pretty happy about that fact. Unlike about the fact that the Youth Hostel at Holland Park had no available bed anymore too. So I continued my odyssey till I found a nice shabby hostel, near the Station Queensway that still had a bed available for me .

The next day shall be a better one, I spoke and so it was.
- will be continued -

Ausbeute / Stuff I brought back

  • Music CD: Disturbed - Indestructible
  • Music CD: Kamelot - The black Halo
  • Music CD: Opeth - Ghost Reveries
  • Music CD: Sentenced - Frozen
  • Music CD: Soilwork - Sworn to a Great Divide
  • Music CD: Tenacious D - Tenacious D
  • Manga: Museum of Terror (v.1 "Tomie")
  • Manga: MPD Psycho (v.1)
  • Manga: MPD Psycho (v.2)
  • Manga: MPD Psycho (v.3)
  • Book: Terry Pratchett - Thud!
  • T-Shirt: Opeth
  • Other Stuff: Cup
  • Other Stuff: booze jars (4x)
  • Other Stuff: Postcards
  • Other Stuff: Newspaper
  • Other Stuff: canned beer (4x)
  • Other Stuff: etc. etc.

Impressions I got while being in London:

  • British people are a bit the other way around
  • a red traffic light does means "a short look left/right and run!" in London
  • Starbucks Coffee is overrated
  • Except for people in Victoria no one seems to have heard of the word 'Station Clock'
  • Either way there must be more French, German, Italian, Japanese,Indian, American or other people in London then natives or they all hate sun-light and never show themselves somewhere in town (would explain their love for the underground too..)
  • If you manage to find someone native-looking and ask them a stupidquestion, you will really rarely get a refusing reaction, but mostly understanding, quick help and a friendly smile on top of that.
  • I've hardly seen any town with this few drunk and for money begging people in the streets and at the subways/stations.
  • Fucking Mind the Gap!
  • There seems to be a town quarter for nearly everything and if you manage to find out where to find what you will get nearly anything that your soul and body requires (but that could be just me not been in many towns of this caliber)
  • Even if the bus plan t a bus station says the bus's gonna drive to xyz it doesn't really mean it's gonna come in less then an hour or drive more then one station before randomly throwing out all the passengers
  • London/Britain has quite the non-existing recycling system
  • 'It's always raining in Britain', is not really that much of preconception as we often say it.

If I remember some more stuff I'll add it.
