Story - All I knew when I started this manga was that 'Tomie' was a woman who could make men fall madly in love with her at first sight. As you can imagine, I wasn't really expecting much and was very impressed by what I read. I loved every chapter and felt they were all very original and well thought out to how each 'Tomie' manipulated and charmed each character in the manga which eventually ends in her own demise.
Art - As the other review has mentioned, the one strength to this anime is that Tomie is truely beautifully drawn in the manga with her beautiful eyes and shiny hair and there is a lot of attention to detail, especially when her beautiful form is distorted by the 'monster' beneath.
Character - The smaller characters are simply prop to the many 'Tomies' that prop up in all the stories. It is especially unkind to the men who fall madly for Tomie in each arc. Not much is known about Tomie except for her supernatural abilities and as you get more and more used to her character, the stories seem to get more complicated and baffling. Great! And a real challenge for the mind!
Enjoyment - I throughly enoyed 'Tomie' and despite it not being as 'terrifying' as I thought it could be, I found it was a very interesting concept about a strange multiplying girl with no purpose but to make people love her as much as she loves herself.
Overall - Definitely an interesting manga if you like different story arcs and strange characters and plotlines. It can be a little gory/strange in places but hey - what can you do?! read more

Tomie is a beautiful and evil girl, who enjoy driving men crazy. That's the whole storyline and you won't get more than that.We don't really know what made her what she is - there are some brief mentions, but nothing is explained and this arc is dropped almost right after it starts - and there is no real plot - just a bunch of creepy stories, loosely linked by Tomie's apperance. This manga exist for the sole purpose of scarying people. Does it work? It depends. If you are easily frightened by body horror, you will find "Tomie" terryfying. Otherwise... Not so much.
I really liked the art in this manga. Everybody consider Tomie to be stunningly beautiful and she really is. Good job.
Other characters are usually one chapter people and we don't get attached to them. They are all rather boring, the only person with some personality were the photographer girl from one of the first chapters. I must say that even though I know that Tomie is evil being with some supernatural powers I got slightly annoyed about how easily she made literally all the men in the story completely mad. It'd be way more enjoyable if somebody had some willpower to fight her. I guess it might be even more irritating to men reading "Tomie", but well, it's just an entertaining manga. Not very long, perfect for a free afternoon. Or evening, if you dare. read more

While Tomie features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who gets involved and causes misery to everyone, Orochi features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who accidently gets involved and tries to help people out of their situation using her powers. The art is almost identical, and the way the mangaka shows every story in an episodic nature is similar.

Both are horror stories that center around characters that become involved into supernatural event that may be very lethal from them. Both feature girls that cannot be defeated easily (Tomie replicates herself from a single cell, and we all know about Sadako).
