History: My first anime 1999: Vampire Hunter D. I was hooked and immediately set out to watch all the anime I could find. Most of the anime available in stores at the time were put out by Manga Entertainment. They were well known for their violent anime and this was a great influence on my anime preferences. A year later, I got a job working in a video store and expanded my horizons. Once broadband internet came into the picture and I discovered the miracle known as fansubs, my list of anime grew very rapidly into the numbers you see today.

I notice you have been watching the first FMP! series, which means you will be seeing the TSR series pretty soon.
By the way, I had a question on the resurrection polls BlackMagic. From your location, what time on Friday do you open the resurrection polls in C&C? The reason why I'm asking this is because I may be out of town this Friday afternoon and I hope to cast my vote as soon as I can.

There was something else that kind of surprise me from your animelist, Blackmagic. I notice you gave the Berserk anime a score of 10. I saw the anime not too long ago and I did enjoy it, but I gave it a 8 for my score. The main reason was not being much of a fan for open-endings. XD It did help me get interested in checking out the manga someday though. :)

I hear you. Unfortunely, I have just got back in college also and I usually have to focus on my work from time to time. Even having a social life is very important, which usually makes anime or manga a second.
I think watching the original FMP! is a good idea, even though it is a long twenty-four episodes. Hopefully you do manage to see them both before the club vote. :)

Well, it was originally posted as a personal review but I pulled it out after a day so that it could be used as a draft for the club review. I guess we should have ironed it a bit more. -_-'
As for the average age of users here at MAL, is it really much different from other places such as AnimeSuki and Anime News Network?

Rather than elevating the status of a series by lowering the status of everything else, it is usually a better approach to elevate other series in a way that in turn serves to benefit the series you're reviewing.
Hmm. Interesting.
I usually try to define what a series is and what it is not. Since the titles that I review are somewhat obscure, I tend contrast them with more popular series. I would have probably pissed off a few billion fans of AIR and SaiKano with my upcoming review for Gunslinger Girl so I thank you for your advice.
