Net-juu no Susume

For the first time since graduating high school, 30-year-old Moriko Morioka is unemployed—and she couldn't be happier. Having quit her long-standing job of over 11 years, Moriko quickly turns to online games to pass her now-plentiful free time, reinventing herself as the handsome and dashing male hero "Hayashi" in the MMO Fruits de Mer. With the pesky societal obligations of the real world out of the way, she blissfully dives headfirst into the realm of the game, where she promptly meets the kind and adorable healer Lily. Befriending each other almost instantly, the two become inseparable just as Moriko herself becomes more and more engrossed in her new "life" as Hayashi. Eventually, Moriko adopts the reclusive lifestyle in its entirety, venturing out from the safety of her apartment only when absolutely necessary.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Moriko, a timid 28-year-old corporate worker named Yuuta Sakurai has also logged onto Fruits de Mer from the other side of town. Coincidentally bumping into each other at the convenience store one night, both write off their meeting as no more than just another awkward encounter with a stranger—however, fate has more in store for them than they think.

Short Review - A Cozy Watch with a Slice of Comfort.

Recovery of an MMO Junkie is a wholesome, feel-good anime that quietly heals you. It's a mix of light romance, slice-of-life and gaming, told through the eyes of a female lead who’s dealing with everyday awkwardness and emotional burnout in her own way.

The romance is soft and passive, which makes it feel surprisingly real and comforting. The show also includes funny and slightly embarrassing moments from the main character’s life — especially relatable for ... women, though it’s just as enjoyable for male viewers thanks to the charming supporting cast.

It’s not the most complex story, but it doesn’t try to be. Instead, it gives you a warm, cozy escape and a reminder that it’s okay to take a step back in life and just breathe. It’s short, easy to binge, and while there’s no second season due to the author’s health, it still felt like a worthwhile watch.

Mixed Feelings

The story isn’t particularly deep or unique, and some events feel random or without much explanation. But honestly, that’s part of the charm — it doesn't try to be logical or serious. If you enjoy light comedy with hints of romance, this series delivers just that.
The characters are fun to watch, though not always well-developed. They can feel exaggerated or overly quirky, but that fits the overall tone. Don’t expect deep emotional arcs or complex character growth — instead, just go along for the ride and enjoy the humor.
The art style matches the light-hearted nature of the story. It’s clean and expressive, which helps highlight ... the comedy and emotional beats, even if they’re simple.
It’s worth mentioning that the series faced difficulties due to the author’s health issues, which might explain why some parts feel rushed or unresolved. Still, it manages to leave a warm impression.
If you're into this kind of carefree, slightly absurd romantic comedy, you’ll probably enjoy it. But if you’re looking for something deep or tightly written, it might not be for you. For me, it remains a fun memory and a charming example of its genre.

Summary of my thoughts on this series: Frustrating and frankly just annoying to watch.

>Multiple episodes dedicated to a live triangle with a character that exists only to intrude on our MCs.
>>on top of this, the main characters both just go along with him.
>Multiple instances of conversations getting cut off at very convenient points
>drama bait out the ass because of the above 2 points

Writing like this is extremely lazy. It's not writing that makes a story good, interesting or natural. It's writing that's created for nothing but engagement bait to keep you reading or watching.

Overall, it's trash. There's a million and one better romance ... anime and manga out there, don't waste your time. The only reason it's not rated lower is because the last episode is mostly fine.
