I think you just articulated my fear of the musically apathetic. My parents must be psychopaths - this is the only available conclusion. Hah!

Jazz rock, huh. Morphine immediately comes to mind, and Steely Dan. Always something decent to be found within the genre.

I think I can agree with you that musical taste can sometimes reveal a few things about a person, but I think it's mostly warped by certain biases. A good example of this is the automatic assumption that fans of black metal must be racist, or that consumers of regular pop music must be missing a few brain cells. The cheesiest pop music got me through my masters degree - I have no shame in admitting that.

Researching? I mean there's really not much to it, just listen and enjoy and learn as you go. At least that's my approach to music. My partner is absolutely obsessed with Jazz and all of its sub/fusion genres. What do you think English proficiency has to do with it? I'm curious. I never thought of that as an obstacle, even with English not being my native tongue.

I suppose conflict between generations can be found when it comes to music sometimes. My parents aren't really into music at all or at least haven't displayed any noticeable passion for it - I find this completely disturbing. I can't fathom people not being passionate about music!

Haha.. that's unfortunate. What does he listen to?

I think people who are intensely interested in certain subjects above that of the average person tend to be categorised as a 'such-and-such snob' because they often have higher expectations. While I do have my favourite music genres and have certain standards, I'm certainly not shy to point out if I think something sounds like absolute crap - though I think the main thing that people have to remember is is that all of these favourites and standards are completely relative and sometimes people don't want your opinion. I'm rambling, but yeah - people love pulling the snob card on passionate people.

Thanks for the friend request :)

Yes this page says the name came after reading Dracula
http://www.voivodfan.com/morgoth_bio_neutronboy2000.htm

Vlad the Impaler/Dracula's title was indeed Voivode. Both the historical person and the character i think.
romagia Apr 2, 2017 1:13 AM
Odds are both the region and the band are named after the slavic title Voivode (lots of different spellings)

Where does your username come from? Is it related to the serbian province Vojvodina?
