Synopsis

To combat rising attacks by communist terrorists, Japan has created a special security force authorized to use lethal force. Angel, the newest member of the force, fights to take down the terrorist group, Red May. Accidentally uncovering ties between Red May and the government, she and the rest of the Special Security Force are targeted for execution by 3 "hunters", enhanced psychics, working for the government. Together with her cybernetically enhanced partner, Raiden, it is up to Angel to stop them.

The age of cyberpunk sure was an interesting time. Angel Cop fits squarely in the cyberpunk genre and has all one would expect: a tough but cute woman as the protagonist, police organizations hovering in a gray area of the law, tough and characterized teammates, cyborgs, crooked politics, obscure firearms, espers, and questions about what humanity really is.
Our main character, code-named Angel, is a young, tough woman who is naive to what justice under the law really means. As the story progresses, she questions what is justice and what is righteousness as the world around her grows evermore clouded and complex. As terrorist plots are ...

Mixed Feelings
This manga is only 2 chapters long, so I'll keep this brief. The manga of Angel Cop is an average generic cyberpunk story about cybernetics and terrorism. Its most noteworthy appeal is being the tame counterpart to the OVA series of the same name. You are not going to get much reactionary politics out of this manga. The art is fine, good and serviceable but nothing mind blowing. The mangaka has talent and his art style is similar to some of Masamune Shirow's early art, just without being horny.
