Hmm, well if you're looking for a good mix between a modern setting and fantasy world then yea. The politics in the series is also twists and turns as The MC slowly comes in contact with the inhabitants of this fantasy world. There is also a fair amount of action and bloodshed as well. Even though technically it's harem, there hasn't been an overabundance of harem-ish stereotypical things like a beach chapter or something. So if you cant to check it out then feel free to, however keep in mind you'll also be spoiling the anime for yourself if you do.
God Eater's initial reception here on MAL was met with a lot of hatred IMO. I personally liked it cause the visuals were really well done and felt like a video game, although that turned a lot of people off as well. The action scenes were fluid and well animated, but it's ufotable so yea..., as for the MC he is kinda generic so far but hopefully he'll change over time.
So i've read up to the most recent chapter of Gate and have to say that it's really interesting. The MC hasn't really been otaku-ish throughout the series and manages to be a pretty good leader. The story involves a bit more politics than what I was expecting but it was still enjoyable. The gore in the anime though is definitely not as strong since in the manga you literally see people get ripped in half. Idk though until they get to those bloody battles we'll see if they censor it a lot or not.
Looks like the subbers have finally caught up and managed to put out most of the 1st episodes of the new series. Akagami no Shirayuki-hime had a very good 1st episode although i'm really looking forward to God Eater.
Durarara is pretty good, and is a modern story that has slight supernatural elements in it. It's about the lives of the various cities residents and has a HUGE cast of characters. Like perhaps 12 maybe more characters that you see what happens in their lives. Theres a good amount of action in it too as you get people from all walks of life, doctors, highschool students, information brokers, human experiments, headless rider, etc.
Gate: Yea I could see why the MC may become a little annoying with all his antics. I was curious and read a chapter or 2 of the manga and he seems like a pretty decent leader. He helps rescue civilians and escort them to safety and really doesn't talk about his hobbies too often.
I can see Rokka relating to Taizai in a way. I haven't watched Taizai yet but i'll probably get around to it eventually.
Lol if you like crude jokes and stuff like Shinomoneta then you'll probably love SYD. Although SYD doesn't really have a plot it's kinda divided into skit type sections each episode. I believe it's because the manga may have been a 4 koma or something.
I'll probably try all the ones you listed when they are released. Hopefully the subbers will sub them quick since they're behind on some right now. Cause some anime have been out for like 4 days and no one has subbed it yet the raws are out.
Here's the ones I've liked so far:
Charlotte: Pretty interesting so far and it'll be nice when the MC gets character development. He reminds me of Kanie from Amagi Brilliant Park
Durarara S2 Part 2 started out pretty decently. Hopefully it'll be more eventful then the last part.
Gangsta: Also probably one of the best 1st episodes with good action and interesting characters.
Gate: I really like the mix of modern and fantasy elements so i'll definitely continue watching this one.
Rokka no Yuusha: Another one with a great 1st episode and a very capable MC. Character designs are pretty nice and it's different seeing Aztec-ish setting
Shinomoneta: Really hilarious 1st episode and way better than expected. Reminds me of SYD a lot, perhaps it'll be even better.
I'm still waiting for a few to be subbed though.
I'll plan to watch God Eater and Overlord when they come out. All the other airing anime i'll watch on a whim and decide whether I want to watch them. It also seems like a fairer spread of anime across the week so maybe 1 or 2 a day instead of like 5 or 6 a day lol.
hope we can get along ^^
