Both of these manga share much of the same spiritual and philosophical ideologies through their stories, and their respective ideologues are similarly as charming. The atmospheres are relatively different, but both have the bittersweet and emotional moments that affect the world around them as a whole as both the reader and the characters get a grasp as for what they don't understand yet. The human condition factor is very strong in both of these.

Toradora!

Clannad and Toradora both take place in a high school setting and involve a very colourful cast of characters, making either of them very likable if you are in to a setting that has a nice mix of Slice of Life, Comedy and Drama. The plot for both is similar, and both are executed perfectly, with both being driven in basically the same direction for most of the time. Both have hardships with family and friends, very complicated romance, and little to no fanservice, making the viewing experience a lot more driven on story and plot than anything. Personally, I absolutely LOVE both of these series, and I wish there were more anime like both of them.

Both Made in Abyss and Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou are animes that go far out of the norm. They both have dark underlying themes and on the surface, they're both really dark as well. Despite them being of completely different genres, they both share the same kind of theme of journey and in some ways, hope and hopelessness. Their similarity is much more apparent through their themes rather than their genres.
