A retail promotional ad for April books from ASCII MediaWorks' Dengeki Bunko imprint announced that the Toradora! will be animated.

Toradora! is a series of light novels by Yuyuko Takemiya. The story is about two students who are shunned by their peers. Ryūji Takasu is an ordinary boy who is misperceived as a troublemaker. Taiga Aisaka is a tiny, but ferocious girl who can't stand the company of others. They bump into each other at school and so begin their love-hate relationship.

The light novels won the Kadokawa's 2007 Light Novels Awards for Best Romantic Comedy in September.

I don't think that any of the episodes were fillers. The episodes helped to explain the various characters. It did move extremely slow at points where I just wanted to see Shana kick ass but eh..

I don't mind if they stray from the original source, I actually prefer it a lot in some cases because they can fix up future plot holes if they change a few things around. What I do mind is getting 10 crappy filler episodes of Shana II before the good stuff starts because they had to fix the mess of an original ending they made in season 1. Than to make things worse they rush through the good material (Sabrac) because they didn't have enough time due to having to insert crappy filler.

There's a good reason why Kenichi Kasai is considered the best director J.C Staff have...

I don't know... I quite like SnS and ZnT's both seasons.

The first 10 episodes of Shana II were a result of them not following the light novels, than you have zntII which summed up novel 8 in ten seconds with Saito saying "lol big boob fiary saved me lol".

So while I want J.C Staff to do this since they are definitely not sequel shy, the way they change stuff around makes it hard for sequels to stay true to the novels. Kenichi Kasai shows aside..

My enjoyment of an anime adaptation doesn't come from how closely it follows the source material because I don't read the novels/manga.

If I read the novels, would I be mad that J.C. Staff took some liberty with the story? Probably not since I think studios should have leeway with their anime. It's kinda like... Whatever they can do to keep me excited for the next episode then I'm happy.

Although I can understand that fans want their anime adaptation to follow the novels/manga closely. Kinda like my reaction when they announced that Will Smith was going to be Neville. I still enjoyed the movie anyways.

After the "improvements" J.C Staff have made to other light novels like Shana and ZnT I really hope they aren't doing this unless Kenichi Kasai (Honey & Clover, Nodame Cantabile, Kimikiss) is directing.

Agreed. I'm rather worried at the thought of another Light Novel that they're doing.

Ahaha..I wanted to read it, but I couldn't understand since it was raw. Hopefully it doesn't end up anything like ZnT II...

Sounds promising... the manga synopsis reminds me slightly of Clannad, actually.
