'Mononoke' Movie Unveils Main Cast, Staff, Trailer, Summer 2024 Opening

The official website for the Mononoke anime movie revealed the staff, change of cast, new visual (pictured), and a teaser trailer on Friday. The movie is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters in Summer 2024.

Hiroshi Kamiya (Bakemonogatari, Shingeki no Kyojin) is replacing Takahiro Sakurai as the lead character Kusuriuri (Medicine Seller).

Mononoke, a spin-off of the 2006 anthology Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror, aired in 12 episodes on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block in Summer 2007.

You're right, he's in Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen with no changes, also smaller roles.

Kinda sad ngl, as much as I dislike Sakurai after his scandal, it's indisputable that his voice is a perfect fit for the role. Hiroshi's voice isn't bad but I think it just doesn't suit Kusuriuri's character. On the other hand, I'm delighted to see Nakamura's comeback as a director and Iwasaki taking on the music.

As much as I love Kamiya Hiroshi , I don't think he is the best casting choice for Medicine Seller who has darker and mysterious atmosphere going around him. (Imo Uchiyama Kouki would be the best fit for this role who has darker and colder voice also sounds very similar to Sakurai but whatever.) Let's see!
