'Golden Kamuy' TV Anime Announces Final Chapter

The 13th and final episode of Golden Kamuy Season 4 announced on Monday that a new anime sequel is in production and will adapt the final arc of the series. The website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured).

Golden Kamuy adapts Satoru Noda's historical adventure manga, which serialized in Young Jump magazine from August 2014 to April 2022. Shueisha shipped the 31st and final volume on July 19 last year. The manga has a cumulative 24 million copies in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in October 2016 and released the 29th volume on December 21. The 30th volume is scheduled to ship on October 17.

The first three seasons produced by Geno Studio aired in Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Fall 2020, each running for 12 episodes. The fourth season, produced by Brain's Base, began airing on October 3 but had a 6-month delay after episode six due to the death of an important staff member. Crunchyroll and Funimation streamed all four seasons with subtitles and an English dub, respectively.

Golden Kamuy ranked first in the 9th Manga Taisho rankings, received the Grand Prize in the 22nd Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and placed seventh in the male readers' division in the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings.

I haven't read the source material and don't really plan to but it would be funny if the Anime went full circle and they find all the gold inside a cave that belonged to the CGI Bear in the beginning of the 1st season. lol

I'm so excited it's gonna get fully adapted! This is one of my fave animes, glad I can finally watch all of season 4 too :)

I've never watched it, but it's always a good thing when a manga gets a complete adaption.

Yes, but I don't know what is the deciding factor for whether a show will be 50+ eps or multiple seasons of 12-13 eps

I'd assume that it mostly depends on if the subject they're adapting is finished. Then, if they think it would be popular enough. Then, if they think they could get episodes out weekly with continued quality.

Oh man won't it feel quite rushed if it just gets 12-13 eps? Like this season was already a little wild with the multiple story lines being jumbled back and forth.

I've heard that this supposedly makes the show easier for viewers to follow, as breaking up 50+ episodes into seasons gives the illusion of easier content to watch. At one time I was impressed that the total number of BHA episodes was close to 80+ or so and that the Japanese numbered all episodes as one show.

is this Final Chapter gonna adapt like 70 chapters of the manga?

GK has skipped a lot of stuff and put it in OVAs (which is arguable if theyre too important to the main plot) so its nothing new

but the final big battle is kinda important and kinda long, this feels super weird
happy that theyre finishing the adaptation but i was hoping for 2 more seasons... although i guess this could be longer than 12-13 episodes

but im afraid

Hope more long running anime shows take notes and start doing full adaptations ... .. . that you dont need to do all at once, but sporadically.

At some point, I realized that I was not surprised that the show would get a new season, but it was surprising that it would be the final one. So, how many episodes will the entire anime likely be? I wonder what it would be like if it were one long show.
