A fan of the manga and anime series, Hayate no Gotoku, bought 398 copies of the magazine Shounen Sunday. The issue came with a free card from the series' trading card game of the character Sakuya. The number 398 is apparently a play on the character's name, the reason why the fan bought that amount of copies.

To complete his task, he visted 82 different 7-11 convience stores. In each store, he would leave a few copies for others to be able to purchase a copy of the magazine.

Haha agreed Konfig. Don't expect others to be charitable if you can't give some time to help out yourself o:

Ofc who am i to judge how someone must spend his money but seriously ........

Why aren't you volunteering at a soup kitchen instead of posting on MAL?

Just as easily said.

Considering how worldwide anime is, he could ebay half the cards and turn a profit. This is really no different than buying game systems as they are released and selling them online. Unless you can import this worldwide with the collector card and all, this is a pretty smart move. Even the news is doing extra advertising for him for those that didn't know this was released but would still have wanted even one copy.

Hmmm, this guy walked around with $1000 cash.
Not to mention he had to carry around all the magazines.
It's a wonder he didn't get mugged.
Exactly.

Crazy guy. It would make more sense if each issue came with a different random limited edition card or something, but 398 of the same exact thing? lol... More power to him though.

I try to picture how he was able to transport all those copies, unless he drove a car.
