Mishima began penning the fantasy romance novel, also known by its short title MobSeka, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2017. Micro Magazine began publishing the series through its GC Novels imprint in May 2018. The eighth volume shipped on June 30, with the ninth volume scheduled for release on November 30. MobSeka has a cumulative 760,000 copies of its volumes in print.
A manga adaptation by Jun Shiosato began serialization under Nico Nico Seiga's Dra-Dra-Dragon Age digital manga portal—now Dra-Dra Sharp#—in October 2018. Kadokawa published the sixth volume on July 9. The publisher's ComicWalker platform also serializes the manga.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in English last April and December, respectively. The third novel volume shipped physically on September 21, with the fourth novel released digitally on November 18. The second manga volume shipped on October 5.
MobSeka placed eighth in the tankobon category in the 2020 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings.

Yes; it's wish fulfillment, it's an Isekai with a cynical Hikigaya-type MC, and it's a parody of both otome Isekai, as well as the isekai genre in general. But it's certainly very good at being all of those, and is about as wonderfully unhinged as you'd expect.
It was absolutely inevitable that it was going to get an anime adaptation, and though it's by ENGI, who doesn't exactly have the best track record, I think it's a fitting anime for them to make, and could be quite good if they put the proper heart into it.
Don't expect any kind of masterpiece, but do expect a lot of fun.

So is he a passive protagonist disinterested in all plot around him? god is even worse, he is same to the protagonists of light novels of the 2000's like index 🤢
What the heck has Index got anything to do with this...
the archetype of a bland and boring protagonist.

No, I used the wrong word.(guys from otome-focused series in general always give me BL vibes)
...............actually, one of the characters late in the story started having some BL vibes with the MC. Not sure if it will be going anywhere.
Oh, ok, then i think i'll check it out since the premise sounds interesting.

The MC's "harem" is a grand total of 2...arguably 3 girls.
The premise is he's one of the faceless nondescript person in the otome game, a "mob" character so to speak.
It's a little complex to explain in that playable heroine is no longer the playable heroine in the setting due to some shenanigans of her role being stolen by someone else. This someone else is that one that gets the BL harem.
Wait.....there is actually no Gl, but it has a BL harem?!

Also, on the site mangaupdates it says the light novel has girl's love subtext, is that true?
Also, why is everyone complaining about the art style of the anime?!? I actually think they nailed the look, at least for the main "rival?" princes, they look like bishounen 100% like they should. They look much, much better than the manga/light novel art i saw of the characters on MAL and other anime database sites at least. Ok, i admit the girls on the other hand do look.....weird.....which is probably were the beef is, since i suppose a majority (all?) of the reader base is male and thus of course cares more about how the girls look than the guys! XD
Also, the protagonist isn't even ugly to me, he does look more plain of course when compared to the princes lol.
