Publishing company Kadokawa announced an anime adaptation of Shimesaba's Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou. (I Shaved. Then I Brought a High School Girl Home.) light novel on Thursday.

Synopsis
Office worker Yoshida has been crushing on his coworker, Airi Gotou, for five years. Despite finally scoring a date with her, his confession is promptly rejected. Drunk and disappointed, he stumbles home, only to find a high school girl sitting on the side of the road. The girl, needing a place to stay the night, attempts to seduce Yoshida. Despite rejecting her advances, he nevertheless invites her into his apartment.

The next morning, the girl, introducing herself as Sayu Ogiwara, reveals that she has run away from Hokkaido all the way to Tokyo. During her six-month spree, she continually traded sexual favors for a roof over her head. Yoshida, however, remains unswayed by her seduction. Instead, he has her do a different kind of work—one that entails washing dishes and doing laundry. And so, a touching relationship between a heartbroken adult and a runaway high school girl begins. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Shimesaba launched the slice of life romantic comedy novel on the Kakuyomu website in March 2017. Kadokawa began publishing the series with illustrations by booota (Shichisei no Subaru) last February and shipped the third volume on January 1 this year (pictured right). The novel series has a cumulative 400,000 copies of its volumes in print.

Kadokawa's Monthly Shounen Ace magazine began serializing a manga adaptation by Imaru Adachi in November 2018. The second volume went on sale on October 26.

Hige wo Soru. Soshite Joshikousei wo Hirou. placed fourth in the 2019 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings.

Kadokawa posted a 15-second commercial in June 2018, featuring voice actress Saori Hayami (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) as the narrator.

maybe it's just from where I come from, but a 26yr old man taking in a high school girl sounds weird, especially when the genre is romance(according to google anyway), yes it is normal for older people to have a significant age difference, but a high schooler? come on man. it sounds good though, and i have no room to talk, as i basically enjoyed watching a man fall in love with an elementary schooler(he may have gone back in time, and did it only to save her life, but still)

Pay no mind to the comments surrounding this series. Theyre as toxic as sht. As long as you go in with an open mind and dont lose your sht youll be fine.

And please read the light novel. Im sure its better at explaining her situation cause as you can see there are alot of troglodytes that dont seem to have any reading comprehension.

And also to all those people who are calling her "used goods" and mad cause she "aint a virgin" i bet yall some saints huh? I bet yall gonna stay virgin till marriage and turn down any offers cause yall so pure huh? FOH with that BS. acting all morally superior

What kind of sick, sexist comment was that? Where is any proof you are not a 'loser', when you blatantly coin the term 'loser guy' out of nowhere? You have zero knowledge of the novel, but still comment here just to get a false sense of superiority? Where is the wish fulfillment thing coming here? Could you speak the same if the roles were reversed? What exactly is a 'good thing' here? You mean an unknown girl suddenly taking refuge in a busy man's house is a good thing? This is not some peculiar ecchi/harem series where such things are fetishized.

yes the repeated argument that this is ""different"" I'm not interested in knowing any about thism, it just I seemed like another Manic pixie dream girl story but I would really like a story like that with the roles reversed (too bad it doesn't exist), anyway this comment is for my opinion about railgun huh?

Where Railgun comes here?
If you want the roles reversed, check out these:

I never heard anything about this novel, but I'm not surprised that many people have so much hype, it's another story excuse for an adult man to be near a pretty teenage girl
it's like any other story of Wish fulfillment of a loser guy that good things happen to.

this must be said by people who never search for work from the outcast. you can't search legal protected works without Identification card. and for underage, that against the law to work without parents permit, which exactly what she didn't want and no one want to employ her either. the only one who will employ those are shady stuff, like it or not. the fact that she only have to prostitute herself is already better than most people without ID card tend to do (drugs, smuggling, organized crime, extortion, scam, ect.)

does that mean she completely innocent? not really, but no, she is not a "bad/whore/slut" girl just because she has been selling her body. sometimes, it's not because she is dreaming to be prostitute, rarely anyone want such risky job with no future. but life doesn't always give you a choice.

So every girl who ran from home in Japan is automatically forced to become prostitute?

I never said that she is bad. It's her decision, I don't dislike or hate sex workers. But that don't change the fact, she is in fact sex worker/prostitute. My only point is, it's valid point to not want someone like that as his/her partner. You can don't like someone for any reason you want, because it's your own decision. If you are willing to have partner which was selling their body, then it's fine. But it's also fine if you don't.

if they didn't have relative they can rely on, usually much worse. and the shame culture of japan made it even harder to be upfront about it.

and my post is for the one who being judgmental towards them, i don't understood why you replay me if we are on the same pages. if it's preference, sure. it's FOR them. but if MC is fine with it, i don't see the reason why they outcry over it, unless because they can't self-inserting, which is even worse.

She was willingly exchanging sex for shelter, it's not called being used, it's called prostituting herself. And people has right to have dislike for people who prostitute themselves. Just like they have right to do for any other reason. "She was rude that one time to my parents" "Leave her!" is okay, but "I'm not into females who prostitute themselves" is "How dare you! Accept her or...!"

But if you accept prostitution as work, then you have no right to have problem with her clients. They did nothing wrong. She offered sex in exchange for letting her stay night and they accepted the deal. As simple as that.

bruh, she is literally homeless (just run from home for no reason /s) and the only way she can have shelter is by selling her body. that's what she has been used, and that's what realism she has and expecting the same from MC. she desperate to keep the week ties she had because also used to get thrown away.

but still, as shimanebib pointed out, i actually drop this series because is reeks wish fulfillment. but the way people pointing the heroine just because "hurr durr she is a not virgin, a used goods, and a whore" is really showing lack of empathy you can have towards woman.

People saying "used goods" this, "Used goods" that. Am I the only one who actually felt sorry for her?

Dec 28, 2019 1:55 PM by Elessar44

I've read this manga back when there were only 3 chapters up iirc.
I liked the manga art so I kept up with it and will definitely watch this when it airs! hopefully they get a good seiyuu for Sayu. Its not everyday that we get a sexually abused/used female main character in the spotlight.
