Original Anime Movie 'Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo' Announced

Craftar Studios has launched an official website and announced an original anime movie. Titled Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo (Even If the World Ends Tomorrow), it will premiere in Japanese theaters on January 25 of next year.

Synopsis:
Shin has shut his heart when his mother died when he was young. His childhood friend Kotori has been looking after him ever since. Now that they are in the third year of high school, and it seems like they can finally move forward. Suddenly, another Shin from an alternative Japan appears in front of them.

A novel of the same title will be written by Youhei Sakurai, and will start in the November issue of Da Vinci magazine releasing on October 6. An audition for the couple will be held by Tokyo Cawaii Media.

Kinda of seems like bait with that last sentence. Adding something supernatural to make it just a tad less bland. Also childhood friend pasted on there doesn't interest me unless it means something.

Seems interesting... I'll probably give it a watch when it comes out. Makato Shinkai really has popularised this 'boy-girl' movie scenario thing again.

Sounds like a normal anime by the first paragraphs of the synopsis.
But by the title and the last paragraph it sounds more like a battle of worlds, alternate world introduction, sci-fi-esque story and what not.
Your reference in the spoiler practically even confirms this.

I think I pass, this will most likely be a mishmash product of things which don't make any sense when combined.
