The wraparound jacket on the 16th volume of historical manga Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem, released today on September 20, has announced that the series will be getting a TV anime adaptation. It is slated to begin its broadcast in Winter 2017.

Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem is drawn by Eiji Hashimoto and Shinya Umemura, and began its serialization in Comic Zenon in October 2010. The spin-off manga Chiruran: Nibun no Ichi is also serialized in the same magazine by Hashimoto and started May 2016.

Synopsis
In 1912, a young woman tracks down the elderly Nagakura Shinpachi, determined to hear the true story of the Demon of the Shinsengumi, the Vice Commander Hijikata Toshizou. Hijikata's story begins in 1859, when he is a violent young man that is honing his sword skills while peddling his family's medicine. Soon, in his quest to find stronger people to fight, Hijikata starts to come into contact with others who will eventually become his comrades in the Shinsengumi. The first one to make an impression on the brash young man is Kondo Isami, who proves to be a better fighter than Hijikata. (Source: MangaHelpers, edited)

Only cover art of this particular volume look like bishies. The manga has rather typical seinen manga art style iirc.It is mostly battle manga with historical setting, a bit gore but little to no fujoshi pandering.

Update: seems like both the main plot and the spinoff will be aired in 2017 January
It doesn't say main series will be getting anime adaptation, only the spin-off...

Anyways why is the anime cover a chibi version? Pretty sure the manga isn't chibi/ shota style

They are adapting the spinoff Nibun no Ichi.

So it's going to be like hanamaru of touken ranbu, like daily lives of shinsengumi

Thank God! Are you sure? He is so badass ( the one on the right)

Hmmmm! So we are getting another anime, featuring Shinsengumi. It looks badass and sh*t, even through I don't think it can beat Hakuouki for me.

True True !!!! I doubt any of the boys in this anime can replace Kazama or Sano but as long as the theme is Samurai lets give it a try :)
