During a streaming event of studio Bones' original TV anime Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou, it was announced that the second half of the series will premiere in April 2016. The initial announcement of the series confirmed that the series would consist of two cours, but it was unknown whether it would be split-cours or not. Gen Urobochi and Masaki Tsuji will join the returning staff members as scriptwriters.

Studio Bones announced in July of this year that an original TV anime was slated to premiere in Fall 2015. The first half of the series premiered on October 4 and is expected to run until December 27 with a total of 13 episodes. The series is currently simulcast on MyAnimeList via Daisuki, as well as FUNimation and AnimeLab. Daisuki also announced that they have acquired the rights to stream the second half of the series.

Funny to see such animes getting 2nd season cuz its barely good enough to watch it ill probably watch the 2nd season only to see if they gonna do any bette job but else in my opinion a pure waste of money. There are tons of allot realy allot better animes that deserve 2nd seasons not this boring weird shizzle....

If only there was an anime that would help you not spell like a 7 year old touching a keyboard for the first time.

If this show is so bad I would LOVE to hear what you consider to be good.

It's also not a second season, it's an already announced second cour. Learn to read pl0x.

You are talking to a guy who unironically believes that Date A live, No Game No Life, K-On and Clannad are masterpieces worth 10/10.

2016 is already awesome already even though I know its gonna be 26 episodes or something

I stop giving a shit about how the timeline connects together cause it's useless to rack your brain around it. I watch it for the characters, themes and general message they are trying to get a across also the artstyle makes an episode enjoyable imo.

I loved the first episode.

I was just wondering if the story was taking any direction or becoming more coherent.

Being a Bones original and all scares the shit out of me for the show lmao.

Looks like I'll watch it soon.

There are many short arcs, seemingly episodic, but all relate to the Bureau, mostly in years shinka 41-47. It get more coherent, as the main story so far is what made Jirou leave? Why did some folks join Jirou's group (backstory of each). And what are Jirou's goals vs goals of other heroes. These are still being explained.
I'll probably forget some details by Spring...might need a rewatch.

Why is Comet Lucifer being compared? They're very different shows/genres. CL is fairly straight forward boy meets girl, mech fighting adventure, lots of sol/comedy, yet gets a lot of hate. CR has a complex nonlinear story, more serious moral/thematic focus, great hero action, slightly higher score (+0.04 of CL), so not the best example to justify CR's low ratings. OPM is a closer example to compare heroes & story structure. I find both shows (CR & CL) very underrated, but the similarity ends there.

I need to pick this up.

Thank god. With the way this first cour is going to end it's going to leave a bunch of questions left to be answered in the second half. On top of seeing all of the future events shown in this cour being strung together, and their repercussions.

Just wanna see Jirou go rogue so bad lol. That turning point is going to be fucking awesome.

Why does this shit gets a sequel?
This shit doesn`t make any sense to everything, every single episode is so boring and it makes no sense, it`s like brain dead version of Darker than Black for babies.

Urobutcher will be the script writer on 2nd-cour? the characters will be more robotic indeed, i`ll never watch the 2nd-cour.

The one who create Concrete Revolutio is a fucking idiot.
It`s so bad, i want to re-watch the 2nd season of Darker than Black.

Just another retard who's brain is too small to follow non-linear storylines. Please tell me you love One Punch Man too. That would make it all the more sweeter.

Ah yeah, that's what I thought, with Urobuchi being a guest writer. I feel like when he's only writing for an episode or two in a series, it's probably the beginning and/or the end (Gargantia, A/Z), that's why I said it might end with his episodes. But thanks, I didn't think about it possibly being a joint venture as well.

I remember the complaints with Kekkai Sensen...but at least the former three you mentioned have had good reception overall, whereas it feels like Concrete Revolutio is almost unknown (on MAL) AND un-liked...I know preliminary scores aren't everything, but it's got a terrible score so far. can't believe it's lower than Comet Lucifer

I am not surprised tbh.

Kekkai Sensen while it did get the hate at first, latter settled down - It was carried in japan almost solely by fujoshi fanbase and in the vest it did not make that big of a fuss and most viewers treated it as "episodic comedy"
Same with DRRR(yes I had someone genuinely tell me Durarara is "episodic funny show"). Actually if you notice most of those viewers will claim the first season(which was the most straightforward and had most comedic gags) to be the "best" while apparently the newer ones "have no plot" (ironically DRRR is kind of niche in japan too). Just like with Kekkai Sensen, a big part of MAL is watching it solely for moments of characters being silly.

Also in both of above cases, most people knew what to expect when jumping in. With concrete revolutio, that kind of audience expected "kill la kill" or "gurren lagann". They expected wacky comedy and giant robots causing explosions. Instead they got a show that uses unique in terms of anime medium storytelling method and is actually less focused on visual gags and more on telling the story. Cue the hate.

It frankly leads me to conclusion that a modern anime viewer is completely not used to actually having to think or put things together by themselves(I mean we are talking about generation of viewers who had trouble following freaking gakkou gurashi by not being able to recognize and seprate present time story from very clearly marked flashbacks).

The fact that certain idiotic youtuber bitched on how the show "is episodic, makes no sense and has no plot" also did not help matters because we now got the hate-train phenomenon of something being "cool to dislike".

And yeah, its strange to see Comet Lucifer being rated higher, but not so weird to be honest- that show caters to an average neet far more than something like Concrete Revolutio - unlike this show, Comet Lucifer is very basic in terms of plot and a lot more focused on instant gratification and neet-pandering.

^this, so much. People are literally just too retarded to follow a story that isn't spoonfed to them and filled with some kind of BD selling baiting.

Not really excited about Urobutcher being in on this second half though. I cant think of a single thing he's done recently that hasn't been utter garbage.

Good news, indeed! I am still a little bit apprehensive because of Bones track record with original series, but if they keep this up AND tie it together in a good ending, this will make a great, great series.

Great news, i'm really enjoying this one a lot but it's shame though it's being overlooked.

Ill just say what I said on twitter:

The show uses non-linear storytelling, employing the use of multiple flashforwards and flashbacks to different points in time to tell its story of various connected events in the span of hundred years, all of which leads to the situation the show explores in it's flashforwards.
It also employs alternate versions of various real world history events that happened in showa era japan(1926-1989) to tell its story and uses the real world history of that period as contextualization for what is going on. It explores the concepts of transhumanism, moral dichotomies, society, as well as deconstructing the superhero/supersentai genre, while paying many homages to decades upon decades of superhero comic books, anime/manga and super sentai shows.
The show tells the story set in the world where every single superhero fiction is true - a world where everything - aliens, kaiju, superheroes, magical girls, magic, scifi tech, etc, coexist in a cohesive whole.

If to describe it in few worlds I'd say - Concrete Revolutio is what The Watchmen adaptation would look like if it was directed and written by Quentin Tarantino.

The hate mainly stems from the fact that for a usual MAL user, apparently concept of "flashback" is too hard(as already proven by Gakkou Gurashi episode threads, where some posters were unable to separate very clearly marked flashbacks from present day timeline), so the general MAL users deem the show as "too confusing".

That and a certain youtuber ranted about how the show "is episodic and has no plot and makes no sense" so it must mean the show is bad!...

Urobutchi? Wonder how he's gonna make this melodramatic as fuck.

The show does sort of need a 2nd-cour cuz its going all over the place.

(Just need to wait until its added to the database)

Not sure where the hate for this series is coming from but not surprised about the hate at all. In my opinion, I would rather watch Concrete Revolutio second season than a Comet Lucifer sequel (please no). It provides a good breath of fresh air in the season.

Urobuchi, don't make Jirou

Yes it was announced as a two-cour show. MAL was just MAL.

The main news here though is WHEN the second cour will air.
Well to be fair I think most of us already knew that anyway.

Dec 12, 2015 4:13 AM by ReaperCreeper

Omfg. Of course this would get another season... And here I thought I could bury its corpse once this season finished and forget it existed. Ha. Foolish of me.

Does the show get any better?

I think I put it on hold from episode 5 ish because I was busy with other things. I don't drop anime so I'll watch it but I just want to know whether it is good or a waste of time.

I had a lot of expectations for this series. Just don't want another Captain Earth -shudders-
