Studio of La Maison en Petits Cubes Produces a New TV Anime

TV Tokyo announced a new TV anime series "Uchurei!". The production studio is ROBOT CAGE (La Maison en Petits Cubes). It's a 5 min x 12 episode series and will start on August 9th.

Synopsis:
Takashi is a ordinary high school boy. He happens to meet a ghost of an alien and names it Uchurei. Unexpectedly Takashi gets possessed by Uchurei and gains an ability to communicate with ghosts. Takashi's "supernatural" summer vacation has started.

The main character's description sounds SOMEWHAT like Natsume in Natsume Yuujinchou. Mind you on the "somewhat".

However, since I thoroughly enjoyed La Maison en Petits Cubes, I'm looking forward to the release. Sounds promising! :]

They're probably doing this to fill a time-gap.

Think about it, kids programming (in Australia at least) used to have little 5 minute cartoons between longer shows, utterly eliminating commercials. Sure, this only happened on the ABC afternoon block, but it was still good, as they didn't advertise any products or shows not meant for the kids that would be watching Sesame Street or whatever.

So the probable reason for this is that it will be to eliminate commercials between two larger shows, or during a show that TV stations may want to run without commercials (like a half-hour no commercial TV block). That way, you'd have a 24 minute show go with no commercials followed by this, and then start on the next show, so no commercials, just anime.

If that's what they are doing, it's brilliant, cos most people will just keep watching it and see the shows before and after.

Episodes shorter than 24min = Really don't want.

Loved La Maison en Petits Cubes and Diary of Tortov Roddle. From the synopsis, this anime sounds like shit though.

Do not know if want. The appeal of Cubes was having Kunio Kato at the helm, much like the appeal of CoMix Wave stuff is having Shinkai at the helm. When you take Shinkai away from CW their stuff has been pretty lame so I guess I'll wait and see if this is the case with Robot or not.
