Makes me hopeful that we will eventually get second series of Sidonia. Together with Mushishi, its pretty much the only show worth of attention this season.

Just put the new v2 drops.

Love Live is en-route to having a chance at having one of the best selling anime volumes of all time. But it has a huge drop, even Uta Pri did not have this kind of drop, its drop is estimated at 75%. Kamigami no Asobi also still has a big drop(82%) and2 other series also have a 50% drop(Haikyuu!!(v3) and Captain Earth)

It feels so weird having the top 40 or so on Amazon mostly consisting of shows and/or franchises I either really like or kind of like. I don't think this has ever happened before and I'm not sure how to react or what to think. Almost consistently it's the shows I tend to loathe the most by those that I feel deserve to be rewarded financially for producing them the least that tend to get the most preorders in a season so I'm kind of thinking like, "Is this some sort of trick?" but no you've got Love Live which is one of the more decent cute girls shows as the number 1 disc again.....somehow, Gundam Unicorn Vol 7 right behind as number 2 which I can't wait for, Turn A Gundam Blu-Ray Box which is one of if not the very first anime I ever saw in it's original language uncut and thus one of the most important to me but was supposed to never be all that popular in Japan, Persona 3 which is based on part of my favorite JPRG franchise, Knights of Sidonia, Tiger and Bunny: The Rising which I look forward to seeing when it's out as well and the original Mobile Suit Gundam Movie trilogy back from the early 80's.

This tells me two things, one there is indeed still an audience out there for these sorts of shows and two, Sunrise is really going to clean up this year in multiple genres, formats and demographics and sci-fi military anime might be making a bit of a comeback. It's almost like Japan is trying to tell someone something here lol.

I was curious if Sidonia dropping out of the teens earlier was a sign of it tailing off or the result of new shows getting solicited (WIXOSS/Jojo). Perhaps it was the latter as Sidonia seems to have gone back up. 8-10k does not seem impossible. I suppose we shall see...overall though anyone else not that impressed with the overall sales numbers? I guess since there have been so few hits lately I thought (or was hoping) we would see more shows this season selling around 10k...Especially since there are so many new shows that you would think they would appeal to many fanbases...

^ I think they could earn more money if they sell the cards separately though. But if the producers want high disc sales for the sake of high disc sales by including insane extras, then that's their choice.

Now this is how you do extras that aren't event tickets. From what i've seen, the card game became rather popular. I could sell a lot just because of those extras.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone here suggested that Sidonia hitting that high was a sure thing, but I wanted to know if it had a shot. If it gets somewhere between 8k and 10k that would still be pretty impressive imo.

Also congrats to Madoka Rebellion for outselling Hagaren shamballa. I guess beating One Piece movies is unlikely but we'll see.

I cannot 'confirm' anything. It is hard to say if a later release would allow more people to buy it or fewer. But I think having it too early would be bad and too late is also detrimental. You want people to have seen enough of the show to know they want to buy it, but not so much additional time that they might have decided to buy other shows instead.

As for why it is early, Sidonia being mostly or all CG I think likely makes the finished product easier to make. Hand fix ups take longer.

I was asking you to confirm your opinion lol. Neither of us knows for sure obviously, but I wanted to confirm that that was what you thought.

Edit: You should probably already know that I think highly of your opinion when it comes to sales.

Ehhhhhh I'm skeptical of that. Do people take into account the release date when preordering? You can still buy it after it's been released...right?

Although that does seem like a good reason to start airing a show early.

You are writing this on the sales thread. Look at past results and you know that almost all releases sell the majority of discs in the first week they go on sale, most on prerelease and release day. Again I remind you that NagiAsu cases are very rare.

So people are not going to wait for July to buy Sidonia. Most will buy it May 27-30. The vast majority will have preordered it beforehand but some may pick it up on a whim that weekend.

Now, that said, aside from the small list of shows that are not yet solicited, you can pre-order most other shows already. So it may not bump other shows out, people likely have put their other orders in by now as well. But they do need to make up their mind sooner for Sidonia.
