Edit: Assuming it really is josei. MAL doesn't seem to list Karneval as josei. Is listed as shoujo.
I can see Karneval being taken as Josei as the manga is serialized in "Comic Zero-Sum" which is a josei manga magazine. The anime is adapted from the manga (which started serialization in 2007) so it is not like the "media mix" that is common these days where the manga started at around the same time or only slightly earlier compared to the start of anime.
Change request made... to both databases.

Makes me wonder if many other josei are incorrectly classified. Ah well...

Karneval is JOSEI , and pretty much, fujoushi bait. And THAT is the reason why it's selling better then expected.
While I don't deny Karneval is Josei, but I wonder how you arrive at the concluson that its being Josei explains it sold better than expected.
Not much josei anime has been made. Honey and Clover, Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Chihayafuru, Shirokuma Kafe, Usagi Drop, now Karneval. Two whole pages of search:
http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?genre[]=43

But I don't think much of it sells well. Honey and Clover / Hachimitsu to Clover about the only one that's ever sold well? Usagi Drop moderately well, now Chihayafuru 2 perhaps. Karneval could be the second highest selling Josei title unless I'm forgetting a big one.

Edit: Assuming it really is josei. MAL doesn't seem to list Karneval as josei. Is listed as shoujo. Not that shoujo generally sells well, sells terribly these days.

Seems like Karneval is manglobe's only anime that sold well.

Duh.. it's fushouji bait.

The term is shoujo Say it with me now. Shooooooooujoooooo Shoujo. Maybe we'll learn something today.

Except it doesn't have ANY of the shoujo elements except the overall character and world design. There is no love story, there is no main female character, there is nothing that can qualify its story as shoujo. All it is is a lot of pretty boys with super powers, and a MC that is 100% and uke to that guy with the goggles, who is a seme.

GJ-bu ranked? How pathetic.
10 titles need to make the BD list and GJ-bu is one of the few releases that week. Unless you are suggesting your favorite anime released long time ago should come up in the list week after week, I don't see how you cannot expect GJ-bu to rank. So the "pathetic" word may reflect more how you think than a sensible observation for the sales.

Kinda sad that Part 2 selling a little less than part 1, but that's more than enough, and now waiting patiently for the anime event at the 23rd of this month for (I hope) the great announcement of season two.

Remember I talked about how much Nyaruko's sale fell (by 40%) from last season? This time we have an even worse performance: Azazel-san's sale fell by 54% for its first week sale when compared to the sale of vol.1 in season 1 (8241->3793) !! (Note: I picked vol.1 because its final volume vol.3 actually sold more in its first week than vol.1) From what I read in 2ch, the guess is that there were a significant number of female fans buying in the first season but this time these fans either found the anime not to their taste any more or have some better place to spend their money.

Less Akutabe = less profit.

I was actually happy that Azazel made it into the top spot despite the dismal numbers.

I think you're right with that;) poor Akutabe. Happy to see it made it into the top 10 anyway.
...
And I'm happy for Gintama, I guess-
Hey, wait, where did Shingeki No Kyojin go? XD
It disappeared!! Well, something tells me it'll return soon enough...

I'm clinging to some utterly insane hope that Yuyushiki could get a third week. (I suppose I should be crossing my fingers for a second week first.)

I know how you feel. But I think Yuyushiki will get a second week. Yuyushiki reminds me of Acchi Kocchi...another cute refreshing show which sold poorly.

Is there a lot of non-anime coming out next week? I'm hoping for some super low full list thresholds so a couple shows can try for third weeks or later.

Same. I want the Karneval BD to rank again.
