Ahh... I vividly remember Ano Natsu.
The anime that had a great buildup of emotion and character development, only to fall in precipitously in the gaping abyss of crap in the last episode. The last episode was literally 23 minutes of crying...
That sounds more like Ano Hana to me though...

Stupid Lagrange went too far, AnoNatsu's staff knows how you promote the city...
I don't know who's to blame (Kamogawa city council, PR guys, other sponsors?) for that obnoxious marketing, but I don't like them.

...They'd probably have to make a model of Pharos on the sea for Kamogawa tourism to suceed.
Don't discount that hypothesis. This is the Japanese we're talking about, after all.

There was also Tamayura with Takehara and from what I read it was also somehow effective (plus nice seeing anime on official city site).
You know what, when I traveled across the country of Japan in a multiple week journey, I actually made a detour to go to Takehara JUST BECAUSE OF Tamayura !!! The place is really beautiful and serene (though a bit small) and here and there you can find posters of Tamayura and souvenir shops sell Tamayura stuff. I am a living example of an anime pilgrim :-)
I even went to Toyosato because of K-On and Nishinomiya because of Haruhi !!!

Hanasaku Iroha - Yuwaku Onsen in Ishikawa Prefecture (SUCCESS)
Kamakura/Shonan - Tari Tari (SUCCESS)
Shimoda - Natsuiro Kiseki (FAILURE)
Kamokawa - Rinne no Lagrange (FAILURE)
that is indeed how it is :)

The series showed such a relaxed village town out of the hectic of big cities. Even without liking the anime I'd like to go there for vacation and releasing tension.
BTW, did they call the whole Nagano prefecture as Swiss of Japan or just a part of it ?

But good to see that something like this works, it might bring more money to it.
