Second Season of Fullmetal Alchemist Due Apr 2009 [Updated on Dec 7]

An official announcement of the new anime series of Fullmetal Alchemist was made on the cover notes of the original manga volume 20. MOONPHASE's anonymous source says it'll be one-year series aired from April 2009. The script will be based on the manga.

The information of the Fullmetal Alchemist Second Season was given at the end of Gundam 00 Second Season episode 10. It will be aired from April 2009.

Mustang screenshot(for me) as well as narration confirmed that its indeed a faithful manga adaptation and not "sequel".

This Mustang design(more messy hair, colder eyes, more round face) is identical on how we see him in starter volumes of manga

At the end of Gundam 00 2nd season episode 10 TV program, Fullmetal Alchemist Second Season was announced. It will be aired from April 2009.

I do hope its following the Manga plot/story. The first season is good, I liked it and I a marathon for it haha.

The movie wasn't all that bad.

Have you seen the movie yet?

Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa

It clearly ends the series.....

Which means that FMA2 is simply going to be a retelling of the series following the manga exactly.

The anime was great, but it's got filler and story changes in it. I hear that the manga is just as good or better from others.

And this series will stay true to the manga? Sweet. Cannot wait to see it.

Yay, and with the manga plot! That means it's going to be pretty long since the manga is 80 chapter +.

A second season is good if:
> it follows the manga plot this time, and
> it continues where the anime originally deviated from the manga. i.e. around

I'd be interested in that, since the manga plotline seemed cleverer, more moving and more surprising than the subsequent anime plotline.
