As long as he doesn't slip up like with Freedom I'll be looking forward to this, especially the new anime.

who watches "a bit" of akira? one of the best manga/anime films of all time - personally, i was sucked in for the duration of both - katsuhiro-san is a true genius!

I've never read Akira. I've only watched the anime. But I thought it was pretty decent, so maybe now I'll get around to reading the manga. Either way, I'll keep an eye out for further developments of this.

Akira was fantastic and i really liked Spriggan too, i haven't seen steamboy but most people tell me all its really got going for it was its big budget animation. I personally think Otomo can deliver another great piece of work but only time will tell i guess.

Roujin Z and Freedom were excellent, I think it's Steamboy that's his weakest work, if you ask me. Otomo's works tend to always be great, if not at least memorable. I have assured confidence that his new manga will be worth a read.

Yes, shounen does horribly. Nobody reads it.

As Higashi_no_Kaze said, I find his stuff kind of hit or miss, but what I do like I really like so...

we'll see.

Akira was decent, though the manga was way better.

Memories, Neo Tokyo, Metropolis and Steamboy were great, but Roujin Z, Freedom and Spriggan were below average to outright bad. His animes seem to be hit or miss and I've only read Akira from his mangas, which was very great.
There is definitely potential there for a good series, though I'm looking more forward to the anime than to the shounen manga.
