I just finished going through Funi's release. The soundtrack and video quality are awesome and the dub is pretty decent, but I'm reflecting why I wanted this. Probably the unique vibe once you get past the first few episodes.

Disappointed there is no art book.

MORON

I wouldn't say that.
You wouldn't appreciate it if someone called you a moron for your spending and or hobbies now would you?

If they like it and it's what they want....more power to them. More cash flow means more money for better series when they come along.

you do know i was referring to FUNI acquiring the series, right?

Yeah but if they got this money from crappy echii shows then they are more likely to spend it on more echii, personally I am confused who buys shows like queens blade and master of martial hearts as I would rather be caught dead than with on of them DVD's.

They might as well fucking license Yosuga no Sora.
At least I'd have a reason to sell all the BD's I bought for it, Sora's was effing expensive.

Don't give Funi ideas like that, I never want to see Yosuga licensed outside Japan, that was one of the worst anime I've seen in a while.

I can already see the Fox News title: "Cartoon Children and incest Softcore Porn are on the loose"

It's not like Oretachi doesn't have incest either.

Sadly I left my mind reader cap at home.

But if you're calling them morons for making money....ahahah.
Yer funneh.
Keep on keeping on man.

money they could still be making by acquiring other far better series

Mkays.
Which series is popular, NOT been taken by another licensing / dubbing company, and would sell well in a north american market?

I'm drawing heavy blanks.

Funi, why this anime, Oretachi sucks, try getting Denpa Onna or something else that's good.

Doubt that'll happen,Funi released Strike Witches and nothing like what you said has happened.there are bigger issuses out there then this.

That would explain a lot, especially when you consider how funimation have been hemorrhaging money recently. It does boggle my mind though, who actually goes out and buys those bad ecchi series funimation sells?

It's all about sales. Good quality does not necessarily equate to good sales. Likewise, poor quality does not necessarily equate to poor sales. As someone already said, fanservice series are proven sellers in the US. That's why series like this continue to be licensed.

I haven't seen this show yet. I do plan on trying it out sometime. If I find it decently entertaining, then I will probably buy it.

Exactly, that's the reason why Higurashi wasn't renewed.

I got the impression that Higurashi didn't sell because they picked it up from a previous distributor, and far too late too. Everyone who was interested in Higurashi S1 already had it.

What's sad is it means you won't be able to buy a hard copy of S2 or the OVAs (unless if you go for Region 0 / import).

My guess is they thought Higurashi would bring money since it had somewhat of a fanbase.

Sentai and Media Blasters snatches up the good series, both each got 1 of the best anime for Winter 2010.

I wonder who buys the ecchi titles Funi licenses, if any save for HOTD, I can see that selling but the rest I give a big no. They don't license the good ones very often for one thing, I could see their marketing strategy being ok if they at least licensed the good ecchi titles.
Funi didn't license HOTD, Sentai did.

Funi's biggest ecchi license over the past couple of years has been Strike Witches.

There we have the only reason.

Coupled with the fact it's probably cheaper due to it not doing so well in Japan.

I would imagine it's the same kinda 'moe" culture in the states. I personally don't understand it and don't want to so for all I know I'm completely offbase.

Shuffle! did well for them, so I guess this isn't much of a surprise.

Jun 14, 2011 10:36 PM by Florete

The shows OK, they could have licensed something better though.
Just as long as they don't try some horribad dub.
