Both are about martial arts, and a weak protagonist who's being bullied, but then starts getting stronger and stronger and deals with his own crap, Holyland is a bit more realistic and believable.

There are a lot of fighting done around the neighborhood of the school. You can get the sense of fighting spirit and the epic feeling known as never-give-up in Beelzebub and Holyland. 

Beelzebub is more comedic in that being a shounen, you never forget the aura of invincibility on MC's head. Holyland is more tragic, in the sense that MC is not invincible and often lose to people with superior skills.

Weak main charachter who becomes someone known and amazing (And scary at some time) the manga sents shivers down your spine at some points (The Breaker still better)

Both started as weak, but shit, this ain't no ordinary Shounen MC that needs to go through a lot just to get strong. This people started as a beast, inside that beast lies another monster, BOOM. P.S you'll only be seeing enemies getting trashed.

both have a protagonist who are wimpy but after getting introduced to the world of martial arts they began to find changes in them selfs. 
a difference is hat holyland has a much more realistic story.

If you like The Breaker, maybe you'll find Holyland interesting, but I won't say the same if it's upside down. While The Breaker is a story about martial arts close to super-powers surrounded by a mafia ambientation, Holyland is more like a deep human exploration, where the main character gets close to madness and rebuilds himself by being strong and being brave enough to face his fear.

Yi Shioon and Kamishiro are somehow similar looking characters but I found Kamishiro to be way better constructed. While Yi Shioon is a weak teenager with the only desire of protect what he more loves, Kamishiro only found relief in practising a boxing movement and repeating it 2500 times a day for 2 years. Bullying did Kamishiro a monster inside and when he's strong enough, he is shown merciless.

I think Holyland is way better than The Breaker, but it's up to you. So, if you liked The Breaker, try Holyland. read more

If you love martial arts and street fighting, both of them are great reads in the genre. The MCs are also similar, they start as a weak and slowly develop into a badass fighter.

Both series have amazing art and the fights are very detailed. The main characters of each series goes through a lot of inner turmoil on their journey to become the strongest.

Very similar types of stories, good pacing in both, likable main cast, MCs are similar but in Weak Hero he is a bit better at fighitng from the get go. If you liked one you'll definitely enjoy the other.

Both main characters pickup the ways of fighting to survive and protect the ones they love. The two male characters become very skilled and learn to adapt their way of life to the fighting world. The stories show the craft of martial arts and just how dangerous it is being displayed in the streets. Both manga's share Action, Drama, Fighting, and Psychological genre components.

Kokou no Hito addpermalink

I just finished marathoning a hundred or so chapters of The Climber, and I must say, The Climber and Holyland are two great mangas that achieve their messages both strongly and similarly.

Enter in two character that struggles with loneliness and identity. They are somewhat introverted, mysterious, quiet, but nonetheless different from others. To channel their concentration, frustration, relaxation, happiness, and essentially, their everything, they find an activity that they fall in love with. Both mangas strongly represent the loneliness aspect of each person's life, and both do so differently. And the characters--remarkably considering other stuff I'm sure we know of--grow throughout the story, and we begin to see--actual!--maturity/develop over the course of the series.

But what is most prominent is of course the sports aspect that we are introduced with. Holyland is the indepth sports commentary of street fighting and boxing, and The Climber is the indepth sports commentary of climbing. The amount of detail, in reality, description, imagery, hell even throw in history are all phenomenal. By sports description alone, I would recommend these series to individuals.

However, don't expect some easy-going, shounen, arc-based, romantic-comedy, blah blah, you know what I'm talking about. If you may, excuse the language, but to put it bluntly, this is, in all honestly, some hardcore motherfucking shit. Remember guys, these mangas are about loneliness, and the reality of these kinds of plot is that life isn't just some lovely dovely pleasant adventure someone gets plopped in. Oh sure, there maaaybe some nice lovely parts here or there, but this isn't like some supercomeback Eyeshield stuff going on, this is some deeply psychological, well-thoughtout plots. The bleakness and harshness, infused in the loneliness and identity aspect, infused in two different sports, brings you two excellent, innovative, breakthrough mangas, Holyland and The Climber. read more

Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa addpermalink

Both manga are stories of despair as an isolated guy struggles to find meaning within their own life. In both stories they have to battle against the terrifying external and social environment of the world. Fighting against bullying and their own social anxiety on both the mental and physical battlefields. Holyland differs being more martial arts focused while Kurosawa offers a deeper level of raw emotion. Overall, both manga are great stories about depression and the simple struggle of wanting to fit in, recommended for anyone.

Don't get me wrong. These mangas are not similar. The only thing that connects them is a martial arts theme. However, after reading "Holyland" you might want to read something a bit lighter and funny. Just try it :). There is also something amusing about that choice of mangas. I mean, "Holyland"'s main character looks like a wimp but he's not and Seiichirou Kitano (who looks like a demon) is a naive and kind boy :).

-Both are a dark take on a popular genre (Mecha, Martial Arts)
-They both give off a similar vibe, it's hard to explain, but I think you'll understand when you read it

Both do a good job of keeping fights realistic yet still enjoyable, as well as explaining the science and methodology behind certain moves and techniques.  While HnI focuses only boxing, Holyland depicts various martial arts in street fights, such as judo, karate, boxing.

The story is rather different (as the story of Holyland isn't supernatural whatsoever), yet the protagonists are really alike. Both Kamishiro Yuu and Kaneki Ken are gentle and yet, they're capable of being monsters for people they care about. The thoughts of the both protagonists are, in a way, really alike.

-The characters and their relationships are very similar, Yuu and Masaki remind me of Sasuke and Itachi
-Both have protagonists who are bullied, but retaliate by achieving strength far beyond the offender
-The protagonists learn, grow, and surpass everyone around them

Basically, Holyland takes the good from Naruto and personifies it, without picking up any of the bad

Their genres are completely different but I felt similar vibes from the MC,
Bakuon is about the MC joining a motorcycle gang while Holyland's MC started by defending himself from anyone who bullied him, only similarities are that they're both young boys finding their place in society, also the cool distant mid-length hair friend are alike also.
Haven't finished Bakuon Rettou since not all of it is translated yet.

Bousou shojo is a borderline hentai comedy that is doing a parody of holyland's fighting technique explanation section, when the MC is doing her "reverse rape". Bousou shojo is hilarious and it gets even more silly when you've read holyland and get the reference.

Both feature a young skilled MC who end up fighting people. Other than that they are quite different, but the underlying story about a young person who's trying to find its place on the world through violence is the same. Oh and they're both searching for a holyland ;). If you like holyland I'm sure you enjoy Alice in Hell, I do for sure, it's grimier and darker, and a good gateway drug for more Matsumoto Jiro.

While they seem very different in that Holyland involves physical violence and danger, at their core, they're both about extremely lonely protagonists developing into fully-grown, well-adjusted people by connecting with those around them and exploring their own talents.

Both characters were bullied and sadistic.
Both end up becoming urban legends and realizing the beauty in martial arts.

Great endings + flawed and somewhat believable charecters. Holy land has MUCH less tragedy and Eden has some sci fi.(Nothing unrealistic for the time it's set in) EDEN was mor believable and beutiful, but holy land was a major page-turner.

Two different views on "how bullying can change a person" is shown in the two mangas.
In koe no katachi,  the MC was a bully himself and he was bullied later on. so, he repented as a way of changing himself.
But in holyland, the MC sought power after being bullied. he tried to change himself by being stronger than than the bullies.
      If you are looking for mangaz which shows the effect of bullying on a person, i'm sure you are looking for these.

The Breaker: New Waves addpermalink

I recommend Holyland since the character's progression in the story is pretty similar. However the main difference between the two characters would be their personalities and mental state throughout the story.

Action is seen throughout the manga, and there is a hint of romance as well just like in Breaker: New Waves. It has a lot of chapters, but not as much as Breaker: New Waves.

The ending is satisfying as well and not a cliff hanger. I honestly felt a sense of inspiration and "hype" while reading The Breaker: New Waves and I felt the same while reading Holyland. Enjoy and read it!!!

Both manga are about fighting, but Holyland is much darker, Kenji is more easy goiing, also both manga are good at explaining how is each move done, Holyland has more action from beginning but Kenji is longer so it takes some time before there is some action, both are really good manga, you should enjoy both:)

These stories are about young youths who take up fighting as a means of finding their place in the world. In Sidooh we follow the path of two young brothers who become swordsmen assassins. On the streets in Holyland the protagonist becomes known as a boxer who beats up gang members. In both stories the characters walk down the path of fighting to seek answers for the questions they hold.

Definitely recommend Holyland/Jisatsutou by the same mangaka. They differ from the fighting of Holyland and survival of Jisatsutou, but they both carry the same ideas of identity and self worth with a hint of romance.

Even though Holyland and Team Medical Dragon focus on two separate subjects(Holyland is street fighting while Team Medical Dragon is about doctors), they are both equal interesting and show how people think in reality. They both also do a very great detailed explanation about the procedures and techniques that are used so the reader cannot be clueless.

Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi addpermalink

Both History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi and Holyland center around a downtrodden protagonist who is forced into fights of ever escalating difficulty. Both learn moves from multiple styles and have to conquer their inner fear to fight delinquents, with each fight a consequence of having survived the previous fights.

Of the two, the protagonist Yuu in Holyland is a bit more of a self-made fighter in that he tends to learn his moves from his friends and opponents rather than from an illustrious pool of masters. 

In the end Holyland trades in Kenichi's ecchi elements and over the top anime-style martial arts for a more realistic style, that describes real street fight maneuvers and their consequences.

Kenichi fights to protect others, Yuu fights so that he can have some place in the world outside of his bedroom and both of their journeys are well worth reading. read more

They both are about fighting. Buyuden is only about boxing, while Holyland compromises a mix of different kinds of martial arts. The coming of age is a major theme in both.

Action and romance are the main genres in the manga. Both protagonists have a love interest and seek to have their love blossom as they continue inside the world of fighting.

Both feature teenagers boxing their way to the top, although Holyland mixes in many other martial arts as well. Bakudan is extremely hot blooded and doesn't mess around with dramatic arcs, but the denouement is rather rushed. Holyland spends a lot of time developing characters and delves deep into teenager angst instead of just exploiting it.

They are by the same author, and the protagonists look practically identical.
A lot of the themes of struggle and the validation of your existence through fighting are present in both.
They are high octane and exciting. If you like one you will definitely like the other.

Now I can guess what you are thinking, but dispite revolving around two completely different sports I believe that the determination, situation, and character of the two protagonists are very similar. In both Holyland and Over Drive both Kamashiro Yuu and Shinozaki Mikoto start off as weak and pathetic characters who then evolve after experiencing the joys of their respective sports/activities. Both are determined not to lose the precious harbour that they found. The stories differ greatly of course (Holyland deals more with delinquents while Over Drive deals more with highschool life).

The art style is very similar. Also each main characters starts off as a whinny self- pitying brat and slowly becomes the best at whatever they're doing. through constant hard work they gain the recognition from many others. What i especially like about the art is that you can actually see them growing older, unlike some manga that only declare the passing of time but the characters look exactly the same.

Both are about Gangs , Martial Arts and Street Fights expect Holyland is more Serious and the MC gets stronger threw the Manga and in Crows the MC is already Strong and doesn't get's Stronger
