No matter what age it is, the "Bullied Child" will never disappear. The overweight, Middle School student, Haruyuki, was one such kid. The only time he could relax completely, was when he would play a squash game on the local network the school had set up. He loved playing this simple game as he can forget painful times while immersed in it.
It was fall. He was passing his time like this until one day, he had an encounter with the school's most beautiful, refined girl, "Snow Black," which changed his life abruptly. Introduced to the software she transmitted, Haruyuki learned about "Accel World." A program that enhances one's mind capabilities, with certain side-effects.
It was the moment the guy on the lowest rung at school became "Burst Linker," protecting the Princess as her knight.
Based on a light novel series by Kawahara Reki.
I've watched the Anime before reading the novels, which I will say it's quite hard to re-read or look over stuff you've already seen before from something else, after the novels started they made a manga adaption... it's pretty much exactly the same.
But since people are viewing this for a manga, not a novel or anime, this review shall be for the manga...
A network of devices like the ocolus rift connects people into a virtual world where they may interact with each other, play games and do random things, until Black Snow, a popular people in Arita's school appears to him, asking would he like to Accelerate faster, from which he accepts, it's more so a fighting simulationin the game, and once you lose you can no longer use the device again.
There's a level system in this new world, and nobody has reached the final level, basically denoting King/Queen level.. Black Snow wishes to get to that level, but she needs help, she needs a Knight of Armor, which Arita comes into the picture, they fight their way to the top, but you'll have to read to find out what happens.
The modern touch to the slides of the manga make it awesome, it feels al techy when you read the manga, sometimes you may get bad translators if your reading it online, so it's depending on the translators, some make it all transluciant with a touch of futuristic into it.
I for one would just read it for the art, it's pretty, the way some of the characters are drawn are cool.
The characters are quite cool, Black Snow seems to hold all the power amongst everyone which goes to show she' owns all, as for Arita, he seems to be a wimp while not in the game, Chiyuri and Taku are cool too, but they only play a small role compared to the two, it's kinda linear it character indept as it's more so a fighting game, you'll only face most of the enemies only once.
Thus far, as it's still publishing it's going good, it's not a manga I'll read week in week out, rather I'd read it every now and again, as for now, I'd be thinking on re-watching the Anime, or continuing with the Novels as there is new content aside from the manga and Anime that's in the novels.
Superb Manga, tho, only problem is, that it's just trying to get more money for the franchise, being everything is exactly the same as the other entries into the series. But my manga and anime alike are exactly the same, so I suppose I shouldn't follow that.
