People put on an island where they have to survive and rediscover their meaning of life. Suicide Island is a slower pace with no "game rules" while Btooom is more like Battle Royale where they have to kill each other.

In both of these titles, a group of people are left stranded in an isolated setting which pushes them to either survive or perish.

Characters in both of these titles are subjected to a dramatic shift in their environment that pushes them towards an almost primitive existence. Survival is key in both of these titles.

Both revolve around a group of characters who are left to fend for themselves on an isolated island.

What is shared by these two series is the psychological exploration of how people's mentality develop when they are left stranded on a relatively isolated island.

Both are made by the same author and it's also a survival. Both have a very exciting start very educational too I suppose.

Small group of people, survivors (in one way or another) band together or fight againts others as unexpected events caused them to have to revert to much more rural and basic living on survival mode.

So, what's so similar about these manga except the big noses? The plot of either manga is all about survival on an island. Life can only be guaranteed if one gathers enough food and finds shelter. Add in a little romance, and there you have the major mutual aspects. ...however, Jisatsutou is way closer to reality than Let's Lagoon.

Protagonists find themselves on a secluded island, encounter unexpected danger and have to fend for themselves, being crafty to survive. In case of Higanjima, the threat is of supernatural origin.
reportRecommended by abystoma2
Constantly raises questions about the meaning of life while having some suicidal motives as well at some moments.

Ah, yes. You are dropped off on an island where you will spend some time. A lot of time. Well, provided you can avoid an unexpected demise. While you only have yourself and your companions to fight for survival in Jisatsutou, you will be rigorously supervised and faced with both expected and rather unnatural dangers in La Mosca. In both of these worlds, you will have to put your mental health and bodily well-being on the line to survive, and to protect who you want to live.

A minority group gets sent to an isolated island because of a government conspiracy. Sinister thrillers that handle similar themes.

Both share a common theme of being forcefully stranded on a deserted island. As they are separated from civilization, they struggle against the forces of nature as well as the faults of humanity. They both soon understand that the most dangerous animals are humans themselves. Both portray a dark tone and give off the same feeling of hopelessness. They explore the mentality of the human mind and how one copes in the face of a desperate situation. While some characters succumb to the pressure, others endure it and become stronger as a result.

Action survival manga where people find themselves in an unknown manga. Imawa no Kuni no Alice just has to do with games where they kill themselves to survive while Jisatsutou depicts how they adapt to life on this remote island and the different issues that come up.

Long surival-themed saga where protagonists find themselves away from the civilization they are familiar with and have to survive with scraps left from said civilization.

Kid that nobody really believes in steps up. In Gantz a bunch of people have o fight aliens in almost like an alternate universe and kei is the leader. The story has a lot of gore, there's rape, it's mature but very good. In Jisatsutou Sei is a nobody who attempted suicide, sent to an island with other attempted suicidal people, and uses his kick ass archery skills to survive. It's very good as well.

Both have a group of people trapped somewhere with frequent deaths. One is on an island/has to deal with suicides while the other has to do with murders in an abandoned building.

Permanently separated from civilization a group of individuals has to struggle against nature as well the faults of humanity as they fight to survive in a new environment.

The trope of an island that the characters are not allowed to leave is a common focus of both series.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
These two serialisations follow a group of characters who find themselves away from the society they once knew; subsequently forcing them to develop a foundation for their survival.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both of the manga titles deal with people who are going through difficult times that lead to suicide. Also, they both have the word 'suicide' in the title.

Definitely recommend Holyland/Jisatsutou by the same mangaka. They differ from the fighting of Holyland and survival of Jisatsutou, but they both carry the same ideas of identity and self worth with a hint of romance.

In both series, the main characters are thrown into a dangerous territory where their lives are at stake. There is violence and bloodshed as we witness how the characters must fight their way in order to survive. Each chapter becomes more gruesome as we see the reality of their newfound lifestyle.

If you're interested in survival horror, then give these two series a try. Both of them explores a dark story where the main protagonist's lives changes after a dramatic event. They realize the unfolding events that could change what's around them while realizing that they are isolated from the normal world. There is also a lot of mysteries that surrounds the many unfolding events such as their roles in the story.

Extremely similar! New law gets passed in a semi-dystopian Japan and a bunch of outcasts get sent to an island. Some infighting occurs among the survivors and the protagonist is lawful good in both manga. Landlock is much shorter and to the point but also has some mild supernatural elements. Jisatsutou has better story but uneven art. Landlock has this really uninteresting parallel story but otherwise a thrilling read. Either way, two extremely similar manga and big recommendations for survival fans!

The authors regularly discuss survival techniques in comparable depth, though in Golden Kamuy these particular segments are more tangentially related to preparation of food or exploration of culture. Jisatsutou is a lot better when it comes to exploring its main plot (which doesn't actually relate to food.)
