At its core, Jisatsutou and Btooom are survival horror stories. Both series' main characters are involved in events that changes their lives forever. Not only that but some of them actually dies with brutal circumstances. There is also a psychological appeal to both series as the characters tries to adapt and function together to survive. However, loyalty becomes a question of matters at many times that truly tests the wits of the characters. Recommended for anyone interested in survival horror fiction.

Btooom! and Jisatsutou are the same in the sense that both involve people that are 'exiled' to an unknown island with no means of escaping, and must fight for their own survival.
In Btooom!, the players are stuck in the island because someone has written their name to be exiled, while Jisatsutou caters suicide repeaters thrown there by the Japanses government. Both has dark aura around them.

Both mangas are action survival mangas. The storylines are similar in the sense that characters in both mangas are seperated from civilisation to an unknown island. They both show how different characters handle the situation whereby they struggle to survive with the hope of one day going back to civilisation or not, the internal battles of self-worth, the reasons for staying alive and finding out the reasons why life is worth living if they get back to civilisation.
