Synopsis

When Akira Miyamoto learns that his older brother, Atsushi, is missing, his family begins to fall apart. The family business fails, and his father becomes an alcoholic. His two parents constantly compare Akira to Atsushi. Worse, Akira has a crush on a girl named Yuki, who already has a boyfriend, his friend Ken.

One day, Akira finds a girl unconscious in front of his house. The girl, Rei Aoyama, shows Akira Atsushi's ID card, claiming that Atsushi is alive. Rei explains that Atsushi is trapped on Higanjima Island, said to be inhabited by vampires. Akira invites his friends to help his brother, under the guise of a vacation to celebrate their graduation.

Upon arrival, vampires attack their boat and capture all of them except Rei. However, Akira escapes with his friends before vampires can drain their blood. On the island, he meets with Atsushi, who explains that the vampires are led by Miyabi, another vampire. Trained by Atsushi, Akira and his friends begin the battle against Miyabi and his vampire army in order to escape the island alive.

This is the first time I've taken notes reviewing a Manga because of how much I disliked it. THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS AT THE VERY END

First, a review based on the existing categories.

Story:
Higanjima has a basic story outline and idea that quickly becomes convoluted and boring, and stereotypical. Around chapter 50-100, somewhere in there, the story quickly stops being a 'Survive vampire island' and turns into...something. I don't know what to call it.
Tropes are used ALL the time, annoying tropes. You'll have characters fighting, deal a major blow, then go 'HEH, this battle isn't over yet!' then the battle continues for more annoying chapters. You'll ...

Higanjima is an intriguing manga. Not in a good way. I really thought people were being overly critical, there’s no way a manga *that* bad could keep ongoing without getting axed, right? Wrong.

To summarize the nature of Higanjima, it’s a manga that’s wholly dependent on the rule of cool. Yet the author keeps missing the cool check roll most of the time. This results in obviously atrocious storytelling that just keeps being so annoying. Random bullshit keeps happening to delay anything being solved. Normally I don't waste time talking about manga, but this time I'll take my time.

First, I need to introduce you to what higanjima is.

Higanjima presents itself as a survival horror story, when a group of characters who are childhood friends are "invited" to an isolated island with the promise that remains to be made is to kill two vampires, but of course there are not two, but two. thousand.
The author has spent A LOT, A LOT of time focusing on the village, the powers of the vampires, and how all the humans here will be powerless, but can they overcome this challenge?

Now, to spoiler zone.

IT'S ... A GREAT START, BUT THEN YOU'LL HAVE A VERY, VERY LONG AND DRAMATIC NOVEL, LIKE A MEXICAN SOAP WITH A LOT OF TWISTS.

After 80 chapters and eight months of training, we take the protagonist back into the story, making everyone believe he is a powerhouse. With that number of chapters, you might think it's a misprint, and you're right. We had a huge number of losses in this first "fight" after training, you can feel that all humans are going to die here, but ... after another 150 chapters after all this fighting, you can imagine that we are going somewhere , no? HAHAHAHAA ... NO ... :D.

Taking a big leap after a long arc looking for a way to fight the great vampire Miyabi, after the contamination of the protagonist's brother, the death of the protagonist's brother, the first offensive fighting the vampire arm, two vampire cities taken, the best friend of the infected protagonist and after dying with honor, we finally come to a possible conclusion. The protagonist now has a possible way to kill the vampire overlord, catch a large number of powerful vampires here, even subdue the vampire lord in a quick moment, and can take advantage of the vampire lord. Will we finally have a conclusion? Will our protagonist get anywhere? Was reading it worth it?

BUT OF COURSE NOT, FOOL ... :D.

All we get is a cliffhanger with a really bad "conclusion" to this manga. Our protagonist is subjugated, humiliated and even crucified while we can only watch with all the secondary characters who now cry because we won't have a conclusion but a very long story that will continue in the next manga with 168 more chapters with a time limit.

I really don't want to talk about some... "things" that occur in the manga and how absurd the protagonist's fighting skills are or his mastery over katanas to the point of breaking metal bars, my feeling of disbelief can overcome this, but this ending is very frustrating.

I am a person who believes that the conclusion of a work is its most important point, so the pleasure I had when I saw the last two chapters of the manga form a cliffhanger for a continuation without bringing a real result to the whole struggle of the manga. protagonist for 330 chapters is nil.

It's really sad to see how a story with so much potential became just a repetition of itself, always playing the same arcs and finally showing a conclusion that doesn't reward you, but instead treats you like an idiot for thinking it would be "so easy"...

330 chapters are no small feat even when it comes to a manga published weekly, with an average of 22 pages on each page and discounting the average of 2 pages of recap every chapter, you have 6270 pages without a convincing final conclusion.

We are not talking about a one piece or a long sleeve like bleach, but a story that for a long time made me wish a happy ending for the protagonist and his friends, but which in the end left me with a bitter taste as if I was witnessing a hellish torture that goes on for eternity.

I don't recommend reading it, I believe you can spend your time with better readings, unfortunately.
