Survivors away from civilization have to fight of violent supernatural threat that keeps claiming lives. 

Both involve a deadly virus that infects people with those infected having an urge to bite anyone; but instead of zombies they become vampires. Both also have awkward protagonists that develop under high stress situations. Both manga also have a lot of piss. 

Protagonists find themselves on a secluded island, encounter unexpected danger and have to fend for themselves, being crafty to survive. In case of Higanjima, the threat is of supernatural origin. 

No escape from a lonely island and this island is full of enemies. The protagonists find new friends and they have to fight for their survival. 

Both are VERY mature seinen vampire stories. 

Vampires and tons of survival horror fun, although Higanjima isn't as action packed as Hellsing.
