Please Teacher really feels like it's just "Ah, My Goddess" at home. FOcusing on the chastity of the characters, they both also have bratty younger siblings who want them apart and lustful older relatives who push them to do more.

Bakugan is just Beyblade, Digimon and Pokemon.

You are trying too hard to look for similarities that are not necessarily there. If we go by your "great logic" pretty much ninety percent of battle shounen is just copy of other battle shounen.

Why specifically target Bakugan anyway? Digimon is just copy of Pokemon, or Beyblade is just another Digimon clone etc. There is no end, or meaning, to it.

Gosick proved so popular in 2011 that it was immediately followed by a sequel of sorts.

I wondered as a kid why anyone would choose to watch Monster Rancher over Digimon.

@Sasori56483

I'd argue Sonic X is more "Dreamcast Sonic at home" since the anime adapts 3 arcs from the games (SA1, SA2, and Sonic Battle) but not in the best way. They actively gutted one of Amy's most important character moments in SA2 for the show by giving to Chris (the added child OC for the show) and it makes me actively upset to basically see the show make Amy a side character in a scene where SHE was the driving force in the plot for once. I feel a lot of the "Sonic is just DBZ" comparisons are very loose when you compare the actual plots and character arcs beyond just the surface level stuff.

Persona 4 the Golden Animation is literally just "We have Persona 4 the Animation at home". It was such a dogshit idea to re-adapt the same game again a few years later to speed run through the plot just to cover the scenes specifically added for Golden. I've seen some argue it was meant to be a New Game Plus for the old anime, but it just really doesn't work as it just feels like an unfocused mess that jumps around all over the place, being borderline incomprehensible and almost solely focusing on Marie. P4A was a pretty solid adaptation of the game all things considered, but they really should not have even tried to do Golden because the way they did it was just so poorly thought out. It makes me glad we never got something like "Persona 5 the Royal Animation" or something as it would likely end up with much the same problems.

I'd say Monsuno is a knock-off of Bakugan as it copies a lot of the same mechanics, especially the toy side of it. Also obviously there's many monster battling anime that you could say are knock-offs of Pokémon and they'd probably all apply, although I think Monster Rancher is at least the worst one and the one that leans heaviest towards copying Pokémon (that I've seen so far)

Hmm... I'm not sure if this exactly fits what you're going for, but a few things that kinda fall into this. I feel like back in the day this was RahXephon with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Back when it came out so many times I saw it just as "Eva with music". A little more recent I remember Gakusen Toshi Asterisk and Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry because they literally came out on the same exact day and had almost literally the same story. It seemed that Cavalry was genuinely regarded as the "good" one. Lastly Gun X Sword, that really felt like "oh it's kind of a Trigun / Cowboy Bebop wanna be, but just meh".

These are ones that I remember seeing this sentiment mentioned. I need to try and think of some of my own examples.

I always thought of Monster Rancher as more of a Digimon knockoff.

@LSSJ_Gaming I think "We have this at home" meme means exactly that lax comparison.

Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ouji is kinda a budget version of Kamisama Hajimemashita - not the same, but with clearly similarities and It's really on budget.

@Valyrian1124 Because it not, Rahxephon was inspired by Brave Reideen from 1975. Directed by Tomino and later Tadao Nagahama. Imagine calling it knockoff when you are ignorant of its history.

@Guilmon1 The mystical element in Rahxephon is a reference to the ancient and lost civilization of Mu and Atlantis following the story of Reideen. Izubuchi love the mystical element of Reideen especially the first half directed by Tomino so he wanted that element in Rahxephon. Also Izubuchi are basically friends with Anno and have work together. Izubuchi was also requested by Tomino to do the Mecha design for Brain Powered but some design were not gonna be use so he took and store the design, those design ended up as Rahxephon.Prince Sharkin of Brave Reideen, Prince Garuda of Combattler V, Prince Heinel of Voltes V and Admiral Richter of Daimos are the prototype for Char Aznable

@SPTLayzner I don't claim you are wrong, but I can see why some compare it to evangelion, it wasn't the direct inspiration but both Chiaki J konaka and the code geass writer who were writers for the show do tend to have a style somewhat similar to hideaki anno (and sometimes very direct similarities, digimon tamers for example has many evangelion comparations in the final arc, though digimon is just very mecha inspired in general) and many things have surface level similarities that make it understandable people compare it with evangelion
Is it an evangelion ripoff? Like I said, no, but I see why people view the similarities and think like that also again, even if it's not the direct inspiration, nothing prevents it from being somewhat inspired by evangelion, especially again as some of the people who worked on the show do share both similarities to evangelion in writing and some direct references -the Guilmon line from digimon for example is inspired by unit 01

@Lucifrost To understand Kotomi quotes and the girl in question in Rahxephon, one would need to show interest and search up the short story to read. As we known the Eva, Gurren and Geass crowd are known to write off stuff they easily deem not worth. There are actually Clannad fans who don't known where the quotes came from. Mecha influenced by Sci-Fi literature is very common but the eva , gurren and geass crowd refuse to acknowledge it. For them the whole genre is just robot fighting.

Kill La Kill and Project A-Ko seem like they'd fit the bill. Dunno which one really gets the 'at home' designation though. Probably A-Ko, even though it came first.

Flame of Recca is sort of an 'at home' version of YuYu Hakusho.

I've yet to watch the rest, but Dual Parallel Trouble seems to be an 'at home' parody of Evangelion, based on the first episode.

Outlaw Star is absolutely "We have Cowboy Bebop at home."

The Dead Heat OVA is IGPX at home. (Both are excellent, go watch them)
