Jump Festa 2024 announced a new One Piece anime remake that will be handled by Wit Studio and involve Netflix, exciting fans for a fresh and improved adaptation. The remake aims to give the series a fresher approach, attract new anime fans, and rejuvenate its popularity, addressing pacing issues and making the story more concise. The release date for "The One Piece" remake is still unknown, but speculations suggest it will debut either in early 2025 or late 2024, and it will be available to watch on Netflix. More details: https://gamerant.com/the-one-piece-anime-remake-wit-studio-netflix-announced/ Such a shame because i’ve always wanted Wit Studio to make Berserk. |

I will never understand why people want remakes of these long running Shonen series. Is it just because of the animation? Not to remove filler arcs and compress the story into a more tolerable length? |

@FanofAction It's being made by Wit, it's 100% because of people wanting "better animation". I mean, it has to be, there's not other logical explanation. |

I'm already feeling good from the CSM movie announcement and now this. Wow, I can't say I ever expected this to happen. Not sure anyone did, but I have thought to myself in the past that a remake of the "One Piece" anime would be nice. Glad to hear that they'll be addressing the pacing issues and making the story more concise (maybe even more so than the manga? I wonder how much of a 1-1 adaptation this'll be). I'm hoping that this gets released in 2024, but if they need to take until 2025 then I'm fine with the wait. I've got other things going on anyways. It'll be interesting to see how WIT handles it. |

@Tropisch I understand why people want remakes, but logic goes out the window when One Piece is still airing. But I guess the series is never going to end anyways so what does it matter? |

I am actually hoping this adaptation is good because my god, is a remake needed. Yes One Piece is still airing, and I like the current show, but the pacing issues get pretty bad the further you get into the show. Having a re-adaptation like this that trims the pacing down to a more manga accurate pace is honestly a really good thing, and it offers opportunities to fix some of the low points of the original anime if it continues past East Blue. Say when the main manga is over and if this thing gets up to Dressrosa and Wano, 2 arcs pretty notorious for their sluggish pace in the anime, this could legitamitely be a useful and better alternative for anime-onlies in the future. The manga is an easy reccomendation to get people into One Piece, but the original anime can be a hard sell due to the pacing so if this series solves that problem and continues on seasonally, this could legit become the definitive animated version of the show. |

I for one look forward to this. I tried the like the anime it has a great set up I like. A ship and crew setting is just my cup of tea. But it's ruined by terrible characters, Luffy, Usopp and Sanji are so annoying in the anime. Luffy is just to dumb. However the Netflix adaptation is awesome. I can't believe I'm going to say this but the Netflix adaptation is better then the source material. The guy who plays Luffy made that character work tho the guy who plays Zoro sold the show for me. |

It's the first time they've done a remake of an anime that's still on air, Netflix saw that the live action series was a certain success and now they want to make money with One Piece anyway haha. |

There's absolutely no way WiT are sticking around for 20+ years to adapt the entirety of One Piece via the seasonal format. I can only assume they're trying to bring the first few arcs up to modern animation standards as those do look very dated. Once that's been done, they'll split. |

@xenosys Won't take 20+ years if they aren't like Toei and adapt half a chapter per week. |

Never heard of Wit studio, but from the speculation and how it has been received thus far (for the majority), I look forward to seeing what they do as I am just starting One Piece (slowly, and I'm not sure if it's worth it..) and the animation at least in the first season thus far is rightfully dated (circa 97). I now am curious to check out more studios and see whose style and which artists I actually like. Thank you for that type of intro. |

It's probably a move by Netflix to keep their subscribers interested in One Piece until Season 2 of the Live Action airs, because other than that I am not seeing any logic in a remake of an already existing anime! Also the fact that Netflix is probably going to exploit the One Piece IP to the fullest. I honestly wish for a modern day Yu Yu Hakushu remake. |

@Tropisch I Know Right ! , I've read OP Manga But after watching wano arc , Arguably one of the most important arcs in OP And seeing how bad the anime adaptation was in terms of Pacing, Animation quality and filler I couldn't believe it was the same show that I read . . But WiT Studios are definitely gonna make it better atleast in terms of Pacing and removing Filler (just see AOT and Vinland Saga) . So I'm finally Existed to Give One Piece a Score More than '1'. |

"One Piece remake made by Studio Wit and Netflix confirmed for 2024" For me this is wasting a good studio on something redundant...like the idea of remaking the whole thing with good pacing sounds great, but Netflix would never finance so many episodes, which means the project will be inevitably abandoned somewhere after the 40-50-th episode mark (and that's being optimistic). I would prefer studio Wit making something new an creative. |

Can't wait. OP is a top 5 series for me but nothing could ever get me to watch the anime due to how long it is. An updated, sleeker version with none of the pacing issues sounds like a dream come true. It'll address the anime's biggest flaws while simultaneously giving old and new fans alike a brand new avenue to explore the series. As long as they don't change the story and the art/animation is of normal WIT quality this will be a surefire success. |

I was sure they'd make a remake right after the original anime finished airing, but since it may take a while to reach the end I understand why it's happening earlier than I expected. Explaining why a remake is very much needed is unnecessary; even if the project is temporarily put on hold after a few arcs, they can pick it up again in the future from where they left off and guarantee One Piece content for many more years. |

alshu said: Netflix are known to cancel shows with great ratings and continuing some mid (as commercial success) stuff. ok so that is a whole other box to open, which is because netflix simply doesn't understand the concept of rising popularity. They have a period where the measure how well the show did, but the flat stat is REALLY bad at pointing out things that don't reach their peak popularity when they just comes out. Now, IF a show is massive enough, it will break through that, and get enough seasons.... normally... there are still rare cases when they did the opposite. and no one will ever know why lol alshu said: Imagine Wit going the MAPPA route - working on N+1 projects simultaneously. That would be the worst. True, but they are nowhere near that point yet. they are only taking on 2 massive IPs, and one of them is a collaboration. Ever since they let go of aot, all their productions look as healthy as it gets. No matter how good the talent, you can see when errors slip through because of production issues. as we saw with aot s3p2 from wit or the new jjk. they look great, but you can definitely see how some parts fall shorter than you would expect. but wit hasn't anything like that. all of their works looks finished and extremely polished on top of that. Them letting go of aot to me is proof that they will never become like mappa. if they had wanted to do it, they would never let go of arguably the most popular anime of the modern age that put their names out there. |

You see part of me thinks this is a good idea as more than for money's sake this would get non-old-fans (possibly me as well) into the series without those "it's long, slow and old" complaints of Toei's rendition. Not to mention Wit Studio would be handling it so the production quality is guaranteed adequate at worst. Also part of me has doubts considering Netflix is behind it which i've never been a big fan of their anime originals. The only rounds they've won was with Devilman Crybaby (mostly bcoz of Go Nagai and Yuaasa) and to a mild extent, Beastars. The rest have been rather meh. Not to mention the typical case of possibly content-cutting. |

Not a fan of Great Pretender, Pluto and Devilman Crybaby, regardless of their origin, but I quite liked B:The Beginning...sadly its second season was rushed and kind of nonsensical. 2. Take notice how short those projects are! This is why I doubt Netflix can go for years an years to remake lets say 300-400 episodes worth of manga (and that's cutting some stuff like Thriller Bark, which happens to be my favorite arc). |
