MAL: list designs, modern profile design, more reviews, non-dead forums both have ups and downs with their code systems. i keep switching which my fave is, but currently using both for logging anime |

| I only like Anilist for the tags and genres in my profile there plus all the stats nothing else besides the stats, tags and genre sorting is particularly good about anilist if MAL had such features I wouldn't have a anilist lol but MAL really likes to be outdated I just update my anilist everynow and then and look at the pretty stats go 'ooh thats neat' then go back to MAL |

| In terms of looks, I'd say MAL is better. In terms of ease of convinience, Anilist wins. If we look at anything user related, be it recommendations, forums or moderation, I'd say MAL wins by a landslide. |

| anilist fucking sucks , the mods there behave like toxic asshats, the only good thing about it is the ui , the database doesnt even have some stuff and the moderators imply that they are too lazy to add or dont have enough incentive to when asked abt it u can see for urself about aot's latest entry before they had the entry as 3 episodes and now they have it as 1 , why not 2? because they dont wanna copy myanimelist apparently. the mods there are clowns who defy anyone who dont fit in on their ideal community standards there's no room for jokes in the forum activities any forum activity that does not pertain to their idea of funny , gets removed obviously my whole user experience has turned upside down since ive become more active on anilist , its a good ui and it works when its let but apparently that's not happening anytime soon since there are people who worship them like sheeps without even blinking an eye on what they are doing , kind of like how peasants used to follow kings due to their power in the early ages but this is retards and morons following fat mods so im actively gonna be switching to mal instead. not gonna stay active on forums here but i just want a place thats not filled with toxic control fools |

| Anilist exists for my trolling entertainment. Their mods are hilarious. I love just making dozens of accounts from different ips and replicating the xml file for each account just to write poems about dicks. Not targeted at anyone but just random poems about dicks. Just to get the same moderator every single time get baited into getting fishhooked to argue with me about dicks and if his smells or not. It's a lolcow community and I love it. I hope it stays up forever. Taluun needs to wash that dick. MAL is superior in every way possible. |

| For sure: MAL > Anilist I used Anilist as my primary tracker for more than 2 years. But I decided to come back to MAL, mainly because of the moderators on Anilist. People used to make funny/interesting posts on Anilist, but I suspect that moderators made people on Anilist afraid to post. I have seen a lot of testimonies that people feel they were banned/put on a timeout for unnecessary reason. The reason I started to believe them was because of the whole banning of "the word" debacle and I also started to realise that moderators try to push values onto people who disagree with them in every post where the OP tries to debate a topic that is a bit thought provoking. This leads to one-sided discussions and is why the forums on Anilist are dead. If you ask most people on Anilist, they will almost always say "MAL is toxic", but I disagree with this statement and I think it should be replaced with "People on MAL like to disagree with my opinion and debate on topics". After coming back to MAL, I realised that MAL has better conversations, I learn more news on MAL and MAL is more customisable than Anilist. tl;dr: MAL has a better community and mods than Anilist. |
| MAL has a more friendly interface and makes it easier to add and find shows to your list. You get a wide variety on MAL because of the wide user base. It feels more like a community here. The forums are bussin and you can actually have a conversation here. However MAL in my opinion is kind of toxic when it comes to rankings. There is always a group of people who make it their life's goal is to keep FMAB on the top. Another problem is why do new airing shows end up as the top anime even though they haven't even finished airing yet? For example Oshi No Ko (since it's the most recent), how is a newcomer supposed to take the top anime list seriously? I think there should be a buffer period then the show can be ranked. I personally use Anime News Network if I want to see an accurate ranking of shows. I don't want to be that guy but just because a show is mainstream doesn't necessarily make it the best. In short MAL is right now the best site for anime logging and community engagement. |

| AniList is not only hateful towards Astolfo, Felix or Ruka Urushibara or other great trap charathers, but they are also against hatefull towards fancy large ingieous rock formation-talk like the Siberian Traps or the Deccan Traps. | I like AL design, extensive search functionality and so on.... but moved back to MAL due to much more upfront and easier community aspect. AL forums feel such background element where I simply didn't feel joining discussions etc... And AL database changes triggered me a lot. They sometimes add entry, then remove it, add again thus by the end of the day I end up losing my listing data... |

And I can assure you the database mods over there don't give a shit on how MAL does things. At least they put the last two AOT episodes as two separate entries instead of leaving them on airing for half a year like MAL does it for whatever pretentious reason. The database on Anilist is objectively better than on MAL where it's normal to ignore reports of factually wrong entries just because the mods don't like you. |
