Like a bolt form the blue its time 4 another threadview!!

So for todays thread, I'm going to focus on shojo, but lets make it to the 2000s as lot of us grew up in the 2000s as well as also, a good selection of shojo from the 2000s that were adapted. And to also celebrate the lesser known series that either faded into obscurity, or have a charm of its own that never really caught on but now in retrospect its highly fondly looked at.

Princess Tutu

This was an original story by Hal Film Maker and directed by Junichi Satou.

This is a fairy tale themed magical girl story instead of action its ballet pieces, to heal the wounded hearts of others and the music along with the dance sequences are very incredible.

Its not all cutesy uwu as well too it does get darker as time does goes by.

Story focuses on Ahru a talking duck as lot of animals in the story, are able to talk who is turned into a human who has to find the shards of the prince’s heart to save him.

It will really hit you in the feelings and I love the polar opposite dynamic between Rue and Ahru as well too and see, Madoka didn’t do the polar opposite magical girl effect first and I don’t think Princess Tutu did either and bonus mention to Uta Kata as that’s another good magical girl anime series, that also had that character dynamic as well too.

Bottle Fairy

(source i believe @Fario-P was the one who's made the bottle fairy gifs not sure but i know she's made alot of them.)

This show is a huge pick me up and I can watch the episodes forever and always be endeared, by how adorable the cast is and the cute misadventures they go on in the series.

I just love all the characters and sure the animation may look dated but still in a way it has that 2000s charm to it you just can’t get these days.

Oboro looks so adorable and oh my gosh I would love to have them as my pet!! <3

For honary mentions on stuff that needs more love that’s a good question to mention, Arina Tanemura and Natsumi Ando’s works needs a lot more love honestly.

Full Moon,Ion,Time Stranger,Phantom Thief Jeanne for Arina and for Natsumi, I would say Kitchen Princess and Zodiac P.I

So that being said, which 2000s shojo that isn’t well known you have really enjoyed and wanna signal boost.

Enjoy the thread!!

Shounen Onmyouji - Despite the name it's actually shoujo, not the usual type of shoujo though. I love all the mythological stuff about omyoudo and how it gets somewhat darker towards the end. The LNs have over 50+ volumes and rumors say that only the first 2 arcs were adapted back in 2006 (the LNs aren't available unfortunately), I really love this series, wish it would get a full adaptation someday but given that it never got popular chances are almost non-existent.

I didn't make these gifs and those two aren't actually listed as shoujo, but still (obviously if you know me) great picks for opening post Crow!!
Been a while since you came back with some crazy new threads, let's bring back some more fun around this board.

Obviously would've gone for Uta∽Kata, but that's an original with a seinen manga, so I'll just second Full Moon. The 2002 anime adaptation may not be as high tier as the original manga, which feels like a timeless gem to read, but I still had a fun time watching the show and all of the songs are amazing.

Still wish we could get Brotherhood wo Sagashite (or would it be more like Sister? lol) though.

@Fario-P

Welp evening brain, once again strikes again for me oof. :P

And i got plenty more ideas to come soon! maybe more in the future once i find something i think is cool to talk about naturally instead of forced out factory stuff so look forward 2 that as well!

LOL yeah correct sisterhood in this sense would fit for Full Moon getting a hopeful reboot someday.

I don't think Princess Tutu is less known but anyways, I'll go with Ultramaniac. It's not that well known cause it's bland, like seriously, it's so poor in comparison to other majokko anime but still, it's so fun to watch and episode 21 is probably one of the best directed romance episodes, I kid you not for I saw lots of romance anime but this was just outstanding.

Romeo x Juliet

It's not tagged officially as a shoujo, but it gives off the same vibes and it's one of my favorite shoujos / shoujo-like anime.
In a lot of shoujos, I can't get along with the heroine, because they are often so naive and shy little wallflowers, but here, I liked Juliet quite a lot. She has her own will, thoughts, fire and a spine.
Also they both have pretty good dynamics, he's a cutie and they are on eye level. I enjoy their relationship.
It's overall just a very enjoyable anime and a nice retelling (more or less, it's a lose adaptation).

as well-regarded a legendary Shojo series as the original late-90's MADHOUSE-produced
"Cardcaptor Sakura" is amongst the aging 90's generation of Anime fandom,
this masterpiece seems sadly all-too-unknown among the more recent 21st-century-native generations...

I think Saiunkoku Monogatari (and it's 2nd season) - are not too well known. Afaik the novel went further (would have been enough for a 3rd season I think?) ... but never fully got adapted. Only those 2 seasons. Liked it cause of the setting (Chinese-like with a bit of fantasy slements) and some political stuff a bit in the plot/story. Interesting female lead. The lots of male characters did not feel too anoying. (I even liked a few!) Though it felt a bit like a reverse harem with all of them lol. :D (But main focus was still the political plot.)

There also existed a special episode with the 2 main voice actors (actress and actor) - kinde nice having them talk normally (totally different from their role) and then speaking like the anime char. (Really a piece of art - this japanese voice acting.) The page for the anime does list neither Shoujo nor Josei. Page for the source (novel) ... seems to list Josei. (Though the anime feels more like Shoujo.) Weird here on MAL ... (a manga is listed as Shoujo)

Hayate_no_Gotoku

It says its shonen but I reckon it could get away with the shojo tag as well.

Honestly hadn't heard either mentioned and while both seemed fairly known it can certainly use lot more love these days and you guys should rec them to your friends and anyone else around here so both aformentioned series can get more love.

Ashita no Nadja and Princess Yucie are not as much known know, considering the studios behind them, Toei and Gainax.
Same for Konnichiwa Anne, the last WMT series.
I would not classify Some day's Dreamers :Sora strictly as shojo but it has magical girl elements too
Tweeny Witches are still underrates
Emily of New Moon is the last effort of TMS to do a novel adaptation and it was also very good
Ginban Kaleidoscope was also a decent gambatte sports series
Angelic Layer is one of the rather underrated Clamp series.
Strange Dawn has also adventure shojo elements, but again don't take my word for it.
Ghost Hunt: unique shojo with horror /detective /mystery elements.

i ran here so fast to recommend Ginban Kaleidoscope and Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge but i see sb already did it.

Miracle Train - i have some vague but good memories of it
Kamichama Karin - really adorable series with magical girls elements
Kobato and Sola - these 2 maybe technicaly aren't shoujo but are 2000s romances and have the right vibe

I'm not really good at 2000s shojo, but maybe Ojamajo Doremi (1999) counts? It had more seasons in the early 2000s.

Was watching that as a middle schooler, it's just super sweet and the characters make the funniest faces. Magical girls, but with no violence at all. the three girls just practice to become witches, and it's quite grounded and sometimes surprsingly sad for a children show. In some ways it reminds me of Aria.

Let's see:

-Maria-sama ga Miteru: The four seasons (TV and OVA) that aired through the 2000s are a nice little homage to Class S with the close friendships between the girls of the Yamiyurikai.
-Perfect Girl Evolution/ The Wallflower: Like Ouran High School Club Host during its time, this one is a silly, fun parody of the "reverse harem" scenario found in shoujo titles, this one involving our four handsome male leads attempting to make our macabre-loving female lead, Sunako, into a "perfect girl."
-Aishiteruze Baby: An adorable coming-of-age series involving carefree playboy, Kippei, caring for his young cousin, Yuzuru, and becoming more responsible as he cares for her.
-Full Moon wo Sagashite: Decent magical girl anime focused on 12-year old Mitsuki's efforts to be a singer using the magic of a pair of shinigami to become the idol singer, Full Moon.
-Ayashi no Ceres: From the same mangaka behind Fushigi Yuugi. More on the dramatic and tragic side involving female lead Aya's struggles with the members of her family wanting her dead after learning she's the reincarnation of a vengeful tennyo named Ceres.
