Fruits basket final season for me! I liked horimiya, but I read the manga/webcomic first and the anime felt flat in comparison. It was still a good show though! Fruits basket I’ve followed for the past 3 years and loved every minute! Was a fan of the original so happy to see it play out in its full glory finally 🥰

Watched Horimiya, Nagatoro, Komi and Beastars between the ones that got nominated and literally i would like no one to win, if I watched fruits basket i would probably vote for it (recently starting s1)

Beastars wasn't even romance in this season
Komi had almost no romance this season
Nagatoro was ok, it does features some romance but nominee for best of the year?
Horimiya was simply too fast for everything, didn't like it at all

I didn't really enjoyed it either on my first watch...but on my 2nd watch I thought it was pretty good...a bit rushed but good... pretty wholesome and fun to watch imo

horimiya shouldn't win anything if it covers the entire anime, the ending was not strong and the anime absolutely fell off a bit, it had an excellent start but I ended up giving it a 6, I haven't seen all of fruits basket but I'd imagine that is a much stronger contender giving its rating

Horiyama, despite being very good was rushed for some reason, which heavily diminished it's quality.
Anime was decent, but in the end adaptation was slightly botched.

Horimiya's nomination there reminds me of what the anime could have been; a worthy contender in a category-based anime of the year vote.

It wouldn't be "could have been" if this wasn't a hollow adaptation that skipped half of the manga just to advertise the final chapter.

My vote was for Nagatoro, which I found really sweet and moving. I liked HoriMiya but I thought it was highly overrated. After watching I checked out the manga and it’s profoundly funny. I think the show was really beautiful but struggled to capture everything that was great about the manga.

I watched mostly romance anime for 2021 and Horimiya was on the lower end, girlfriend girlfriend was at the bottom and fruits basket was at the top imo.

honestly, horimiya was too rushed to be enjoyable. if rhey didn’t screw up the ending it could’ve been better. i’d honestly give this one to higehiro, even though it wasn’t on the list.

None of the nominees were that good to me. I do like Legosi and Haru from Beastars but S2 barely focused on that specific genre with them and generally for the whole cast and season too, it was more solely a character drama with more action than actual romance. Horimiya's couple is fine but the show itself didn't really do enough with them to have any kind of real chemistry and impact overall and ended in a weak and rushed manner too, although the manga felt like it dragged on for an eternity with too much focus on mediocre side characters and boring subplots. More focus on HoriMiya in Horimiya would've helped a bit. Rest of the options are kinda wank, yes that includes FB too for me.
