| There are three people in this thread: the cringe, the funny, and the based. that aside.... there are a few criteria needed to be met before the art style irritates me to a great extent. 1. too much design, when something is designed too much it feels like my eyes are burning. 2. too little design, boring. 3. little variety, sometimes i want to see the characters wear something else. 4. have you noticed that the male MC hair colors are usually black, blonde, and sometimes white. this goes for other male characters as well. 5. [insert derogatory loli statement here]. 6. more clothes unless I'm watching an ecchi I'm not trying to see all that shit... 7. pink haired girls should be removed from anime. 8. I swear that if i see another MC with that hairstyle.... 9. I personally don't care for hair style but uh I SEE THE SAME THINGS EVERY TIME. 10. if the characters have the same faces. 11. [insert cliche big eyes comment here]. 12. if the tits is too big then its just weird. 13. [traps are bad?] just a little warning most of this is a joke. That aside i don't really care about the art style too much doesn't really take away from the anime imo tbh. |

| I hate the designs of the girls from Chuunibyou and Infinite Stratos. I can't stand a female character wearing lipstick; like full-color lipstick like red or purple or colors like that. I don't know why for the life of me, but there's something about it that just looks so...unatractive to me- almost ugly. Uzaki-chan is definitely on my shit list for designs. Her head alone makes her look like a 12-year-old boy, and her boobs just make it look like the boy is playing a perverted prank on dudes. Oh, that one chick from Erased with the pig pufferfish lips, yeah, no thank you to her. Let's see, what else...Oh yeah! And the Aku no Hana anime. That's just all one big mess. Makoto Kusanagi's new hair and babyface sucks (as seen in SAC_2045. Arise is excluded due to setting). Major is not a fucking child, shes an adult. The character "design" is pure cringe material (aside from the "stands" and all that things that cause an absolute cringe...)  and Kill la Kill... What the hell is this supposed to be??? I could never understand how at any point in time that kind of thing was popular. | I don't like the designs in Code Geass, I guess they're interesting but they're unappealing to me. And I also don't like how the guys in older shoujo and yaoi tend to look. Like them really broad shouldered, huge hands, pointy chin fuckers lol. Generally when male characters are supposed to be hot in things targeting women they don't look good to me at all. I just see a bunch of overly designed angular bishounen boys with different types of swoopy long hair. Stuff like this |

| Ash's design in Pokémon Sun and Moon. I guess hate is too strong a word but I really didn't like the roundish/overly cartoony style they went for and I always felt like there was something off with his face, especially when comparing him with other characters. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up watching Pokémon and can't get used to a character I've been watching for almost 2 decades undergoing such a drastic change in design but it just never grew on me. I read somewhere that the art style was changed to favour more roundish/cartoony character designs to allow for more fluid animation and probably to also suit the slice-of-life/school genre that saga was attempting to pull off but I'm sure there are many other anime out there which have top tier animation without having to heavily modify character designs. |

| Kino isn't a girl who's particularly feminine, so for the '03 anime she had a more androgynous design. Also made sense because in-story she gets misidentified as a boy a few times. Then they did the 2017 anime and decided that Kino should be more of the bishie type -- which would have been fine on its own -- but the show itself was also rendered in that mid-late-2010's general style (you know the one: lots of gradient reflection, blurred backgrounds, some tihngs are too shiny). It really depends on what season of Initial D we're talking about. I think season 2, Extra Stage and to some extent season 4 have pretty ugly character designs. The rest (and the manga) look pretty good to me. This is what Mako and Sayuki look in the manga:  |
