THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
We found out this week that Bam passes but Rachel doesn't because of her injuries. Bam reveals to everyone that he is an irregular and is going to take the administrator test because he doesn't agree with those results either. Things are gonna be more interesting and were gonna have to see if Bam can pass the administrator or not we'll see next episode.

Also, one other thing I must mention is chibi Rak. I didn't know that I needed this in my life.

This was an amazing episode. Definitely my favorite so far and probably also the best directed one.

This episode had great character interactions, character development, and plot development/progression all around.

Specifically, the reveal of how Hoh was manipulated and the reveal of certain administrator’s allegiances really give this arc a lot of weight that it desperately needed.

The pacing was still slightly fast, but this episode really one upped the rest of the series. Even Bam felt like he had some character at the end of this episode.

Probably because there was almost no action, it made it easier to slow down the pacing and actually spend time explaining important details, expanding the story, and developing characters.

Hopefully the rest of the season can continue providing quality episodes like this one.

Bam the greatest simp in anime history https://imgur.com/a/i0CHVSj

RIP Hoh. Poor thing got manipulated into that situation.

Again gotta give huge props to Kevin Penkin, the OST adds a lot to the tension and emotional moments of the series like Shibisu and that girl’s goodbye

Being an irregular is that scary eh? Luckily the whole gang is down to ride and aren’t willing to abandon their friend.

That looks like the same monster from the first episode, with no black March how’s Bam going to beat it? Fire episode as usual. Felt like it went by super quick though, would’ve appreciated just a little slower. All good though. Can’t wait for next ep.

The mini-arc this episode that is the Submerged Fish arc (and getting straight into the Last Exam arc)...and don't ask about pacing issues anymore (we all know how that turned out).

With the Hide-and-Seek arc finished, the discord of the truth between Nam and Rachel (that everyone knows) grows. Rak being a shortie is just funny.

Bam really is just going with the flow since the beginning: to climb the tower for Rachel (remember, his soul is devoted to hers alone). To trust her words blindly is another sliver of hope to another (which is obviously Bam).

Ho's death was really for certain, but everyone just sent to drinking mode (lols). And also, an indication that Khun's strategy is more than just started, it's going well perfectly to Keikaku.

Yuga's (or more preferred, Ren) identity revealed...just who is this person? Facing Evankhell's hell with Submerged Fish Yu Han-Sung's coalition to "steal the 13 Month Series weapons"? This is getting hideous...a Jahad Ranker with the Director in cahoots...the true, harsh truth awaits.

Everyone else left alive immediately passes (well, except Rachel), but all that can be left to speculation of the future events unfolding, and the decision was made for Irregular Bam to face the Guardian (the SAME Guardian from Episode 1) to allow Rachel to move on, a collective effort for the others to support Bam.

With only 3 episodes to go and the major arc before we finish Season 1, things are turning on its head pretty quick.

This episode had some pretty good original scenes that I wasn't expecting, and that OST that played when Ren was found out is simply god-like. It seems like they didn't skip any major moments from the webtoon, instead they condensed them into other scenes.

In the webtoon that segment where they were at Hou's funeral was for only a couple of panels. In this one they used it to expand on the rest of the cast, e.g. the scene where they were all drinking. In fact in the webtoon I didn't even realise that Serena left, so I am glad that the anime gave her a nice farewell.

When I watch this anime I am looking to see if the anime does a better job then it's source material. While it isn't adapting the webtoon with panel-to-panel accuracy, I actually like this episode more than the chapters it is covered. I can only hope they treat the rest of the episodes like they did this episode.

Overall, the episode was pretty good, it's probably due to recency bias but this may be my favourite episode so far. 4/5

Mostly some set up before this final push to end the show. That end scene was really good. Classic rallying the troops to help Bam. I didn't even think of it being acting from Khun and Rak. They did a good job selling it for me, figured that Khun was just not gonna help him during this test.

Speaking of Rak, they did him so dirty this episode. I know like 99.9 of people are gonna love his new downsize I guess is a way to put it. But I'm not one of these people. It seems dumb, like just a "funny" thing the author thought of on the spot. It doesn't make story sense at all and is basically counterproductive because now Rak is like a third his actual size. It's just really dumb to me, how does Shinsu make people shrink. How can Shinsu basically do anything someone wants it to do, seems like broken powers at this point if people can use it willy nilly.

Enjoyed the softer moments much more. Bam speaking to Rachel was very sweet. Comforting her when she's feeling bad about mistreating him. Bam so precious saying nothing could replace her. The funeral scene too. Laying Hoh to rest very somber with lots of drinking. The size of that graveyard from all the people who died in the tower is really sad to look at. Puts the dangers of it into perspective. Bam going solo into this final test have to see what happens.

All the main characters were able to pass the test except for Rachel because of her injuries. I hope Bam passes whatever this administrator test is so Rachel can join them.

I don't know why but I thought everyone already knew Bam was an irregular.

This episode was rather good, I enjoyed the character interactions. Bam does so much for Rachel, he is very precious.

This was by far the best episode to date. The directing was top-notch (maybe a different director or storyboard writer) and it felt like the weight was on point and with scenes left room to breath. I fear a bit for the last 3 episodes though, because they seriously have to speed through some stuff to make it to the finale and beats might be missed on the way there.

About rak's size. If anyone size is too large, they can ask from administrator (Guardian of floor) to reduce it for convenience.

This episode was pretty nice. Khun did some sniffing around since things felt a little 'abnormal'. Bam and Rachel catching up after all that has happened. Rachel having to confess why she left Bam, and it was cruel. Despite that Bam still stuck Rachel around, and wants to help her. Han Sung is ready to make other complications around with his schemes. The ending of the episode was freaking great. Bam wish you the best man.

Ah yes, the Manager of the Floor, a quick glance and missed it. @Marinate1016 it may look like the Guardian from Episode 1, but it's not. It's the contract monster from Episode 6 (when Ren was teaching the potential Wave Controllers to establish contact with their Pockets during the Position test).

The pacing continues to be really in static mode. It makes certain scenes harder to follow. Sadly even the webtoon doesn't seem to exhibit good usage of siegeways or transitions, anyway. I know people here may say the character interactions are great, but to me it feels more like going through the motions, even with the exposition parts (which I'm sorta glad they didn't completely butcher).
I DO find it kinda nice they added an anime-only part where we see Serena leaving and Shibisu talking to her just beforehand.

The relationship between Baam and Rachel is obviously full of sketch. Why? In many setups like this, the relationships are USUALLY more genuine when the protagonist rejoins with his/her "love interest" (or official lover) much later on in the journey.
Even without knowledge of the source material, one should be at least aware of how suspicious the nature of their connections are.

At least Chibi Rak makes great meme material.

I liked this episode. That irregular scene was way cooler in the webtoon. Thank God, they kept the daddy scene. That was gold. When I watched Rachel crying, something snapped in my head(more annoying than Bam). Actually break both of her legs so that we can carry her on four shoulders, only true fans will get it.

I think they were there for weeks. Plus those 400 were in different arena. They did not have to kill.

Well, that is what happens when they cut so much adding filler Rak with chocolates.

Amazing writing.

They did not work very well in the anime the relationships between characters (it seems a little forced). But I don't think it's a writing problem, I think it's the fault of the director, and the number of episodes, which kind of forces a lot of information to be cut so that the entire webtoon season 1 is animated.
And well, it’s different a situation where they don’t know anyone to another one they know and kind of created a bond. As they say, it is easy to hurt others if you don't think about what they will feel, and the pain of losing someone you don't care for doesn't compare to the pain of losing someone you really care for.

There's one thing I really don't get, if someone can enlighten me. Why is there such polarizing reception of this show? Reddit seems to love it like if it's best thing since sliced bread. 4chan seems to hate it like if it's the worse thing that could befall the humanity. I just don't get it...

I haven't read the source material yet, well I've read like 10 chapters to check out the art and feel of it, but it seems like a well rounded show. I'd say it's above your generic shounen for sure, especially the character writing seems to be a cut above par. Is all the hate just stemming from diversions from the source material? I'd really like to know.

This was a pretty well directed episode, Also the art in this show really seemed to go up particularly this episode . I guess it was because of the aesthetic backgrounds.

We're nearing the season finale now and I still think Baam is un-interesting simp who is only special because he is was ironically NOT chosen to enter the tower and I still feel like Baam and Rachel's motivation to climb the tower seems weak as of now.

Finally a solid episode, it did feel a little bit fast but at least it wasn't all over the place this time, though they could've done some transitions better.

There were some pretry cheap scenes because the interactions between characters wasn't well developed which makes some scenes quite cringy. But this episode piqued my interest back to this anime.

I'm following along with the webtoon as the anime airs to see what info they leave out or alter. I think the webtoon does a better job with pacing.

The anime's been condensing a lot of chapters to get through the story quickly. But I think this resulted in a loss of some characterization for the other characters, like Anak and Endorsi. This episode, in particular, left out a key thing like Khun's reason for wanting to help Bam go up the Tower, and the contrast of Khun's relationship with his sister to Bam and Rachel.
