Will be getting that yellow one as soon as possible. Will look incredible next to my Pikachu 2DS XL.
"Only" took years of (incessantly) begging, but Nintendo finally delivered.

I know a lot of you are a bit too "hardcore" to care, but handheld consoles are pretty much all I play these days.
Everyone is going PS4/Switch-crazy and all I've been doing is buying DS games left and right.

It's not really a Switch anymore, though. Guess I'll just call it the Lite.

Hmm, I wonder if this will cause a price drop for the original Switch console in the future?

I may buy a regular Switch next Black Friday, but I have no interest in the Lite. Who in their right mind would want to play a handheld, if they can play the same games on a TV?

It's good for the traveling players, but i like my regular Switch where i can take it anywhere and play it on the TV or outside and pop out those joycons for some MP.

But i am interested in the Pro version if it ever comes out when it has 4K, huge battery life and bigger screen like they rumoured it.

Buyer Beware: Some games don't work properly in handheld mode, only Super Mario Party is unplayable in handheld mode while you'll have issues with Splatoon 2 or Peach Ball: Senran Kagura for example.

Well thats a godamn dealbreaker!

I am a PC gamer but I have been thinking about getting a handheld to keep at the office. I get bored alot of times and it would a great feeling playing naughty ninjas while getting paid for it.

Slap it on a stand and use regular joycons, I suppose.

I mean, if you really can't live without Pinball Lewd Ninjas.

Can't wait for the 1-star reviews on Amazon claiming "it doesn't connect to my TV".

Nintendo does need to put that in BOLD on the front side of the box. And people will still ignore it LOL

Same, I pretty much only play handheld consoles these days so it is a good opportunity to play these games for a cheaper price

I find this version of the Nintendo Switch a little useless, I'm so hype for the Pro version.

I'm fairly certain this is the one I'm getting. The small list of games I'm losing is worth the $100 price cut.

With much fewer features, I don't see how anyone could be bothered. Enjoy, filthy casuals.

It's a better handheld though.
Lighter, more compact, superior pixel density, added d-pad and improved battery life.

It's practically a (non-OLED) Vita. Except, you know, it actually has games...

i would say so, i mean i have it and literally only 2 games so far yet im happy with it

seems like this handheld version is going to support basically all the good nintendo games too and i imagine going forward they'll make sure certain games are compatible, like new animal crossing which is probably gonna be fire

I bought a regular Switch two days ago. Was playing exclusively on my TV for a while, but then I realised that some games (Smash Ultimate, for example) actually look sharper and better handheld than they do docked. So I don't see much lost without TV compatibility.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is out in two weeks which is what convinced me to buy a Switch.

Other than that, you have Mario Odyssey, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Smash Ultimate, Super Mario Maker 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Splatoon 2 as the highest quality exclusives, with Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, and Pokemon Sword/Shield coming soon as well.

It's still not a ton, but is it worth a $300 price tag? Sure. I make that in two days of work.

If it doesn't switch why even have Switch in the name? Unswitch or Switchless would have been a more to point of concept name than Switch Lite. Switch Lite makes it sound like it's just lightweight in design not necisarilly function as well unless you already are well aware.

I'm not sold on that one. I do prefer playing the Switch on the big screen as I've tried the handheld mode a few times and it's just not doing it. The screen is too small and games that require you to be more precise tend to be a chore. Easier stuff like JRPG's or something like Yoshi's Crafted World is okay but the gaming library is bigger than that.
Considering the screen of the the Switch Lite is even smaller, this will be ignored.

I can see this being appealing only to extreme handheld purists. I mostly game on my Vita nowadays, yet I don't think the difference in price is enough to justify the loss of such an integral feature.

I'm waiting for it so that the OG drops in Price to the same range of the Lite and I can buy that instead.

It's definitely not for me, but they do look nice. I think it's safe to say that most of us want a true upgrade. Hope they announce the Switch Pro soon.

Heard the battery life is 3-4 hrs? The last handheld console I had was psp and it lasted longer than that, also 720p? Still though I might get it after a year or so when the price drops, I need me some nintendo exclusives.

A new version of the standard Switch console was just announced. It will have a better battery life.

New Joy-Con colors have been announced as well. One set will include blue and neon yellow controllers, while the other new set will include neon purple and neon orange controllers.

They finally announced the damn thing and all I can think is "Why the fuck didn't I just buy the regular one earlier?". To me, this was not worth waiting for since most of my traveling is on bike.

Wait until the August/September and buy the revised base model.
Insane battery life...

So it's a Nintendo Switch that doesn't actually "switch"?

Yeah, and I still haven't gotten the Lite, like I was planning to.
Found out it somehow still suffers from the same drifting issues as the initial model.

Just... how?

PS: The Nintendo Switch Animal Crossing: New Horizons Edition is coming in March, by the way.
Not a Pro, but it does look incredible...
