Very early on, I suspected that Hishiro was test subject no 1. But later episodes made me start to doubt it, so it came back as a surprise here.

It seemed that things were going at a nice pace until about ep 3, where it seemed to slow down a bit. The last ep seemed to rush everything to a conclusion.. he'd only been less than a quarter through his ReLIFE program by the end of the series. Maybe season 2?

I really DO hope that those two can be together as adults. They seem so right for eachother.

Conclusion? This was one of the better anime I've seen this year. Loved it.

I KNEW IT! Hishiro was subject No.001 all along
Kariu and Ooga were meant for each other :)
Can't wait for season 2!

Hishiro being the second test user, became pretty obvious at some point, but nevertheless the anime was great. I hope we get another season, because otherwise I would have wished for a Arata and Hishiro reunion after the relife experiment.

Hishiro as expected is the first subject, there were just too many signs over the last few episodes pointing to her although I'm not sure how she got through 27 years of her life with the complete lack of social skills she had at the start of the series, though to be fair it's not too unrealistic if it were due to having a slight mental disability although I doubt the series will ever go near that topic, it'll probably just be some sad backstory or something. Either way she's just precious and I've loved her development throughout ReLife. Her being the first test subject also kind of cements her and Arata together, but based on this episode there will probably be a lot of fumbling around by Arata first before he gets over the fact that she'll "forget him" like Hishiro already has, either that or somehow they'll find out that they're both test subjects.

As for the ending, it was a "go read the manga" tier non ending, but this was a decent stopping point and a good episode overall. I'll probably pick up the manga as the series seems to be focusing more on what I was hoping for from the start, but judging just from this anime, it was pretty disappointing. Some great moments weighed down by a lot of soulless melodrama. I did think that the series was consistently good at comedy and dealt with the more heartwarming parts well largely thanks to the likeable cast it developed, even Kariu when she was not being used as a dramatic plot device. Hopefully the manga continues in quality from where the anime leaves off.

Very good last episode, hoping for a s2!

Good series overall, I do think the sound could be worked on, especially those insert piano songs. The over dramatic moments can be toned down a little. I do think the Art could use so work, but it was good overall.

The only part I really didn't like was the volleyball arc and ep 7 An's reveal came off as a boring episode.

Fun overall, and it finished off strong (I had heard some negative things about the ending, but it was pretty good imo).

Also Hishiro being subject no 1 was very obvious.

Ahh, fantastic final episode. Went about as well as I could have expected.

8/10

The story was very well-written and all the directors and staff did great work. It had me actually loling on lots of parts and tearing up on others. You can grow attached to most of these characters pretty easily.

The plot is set up and deserving of a season 2, so I hope that gets greenlit some time soon!

Ooouuuu~ Hishiro was Test Subject 001 ;O I'm surprised I didn't catch that. I'm usually really good at reading into these things from anime. This would be good, though C: cuz her and Arata are the same age group after ReLIFE ends yaaayyyy~ :')

My OTP's:

ArataXHishiro

Arata atm pushed so hard on ending scene, he's feeling to Hishiro presume shes leg bail from what he feel to his senior so he didnt said about his feeling to Hishiro.

I really don't like slice of life stuff but this was cool and fun. But it was some things I didn't like as well:

- The whole season was dominated by Kariu jeez give the actual MC some shine.
- The comedy focused way to much on railing on Arata, damn it was forced and unfunny imo.
- Arata is a grown ass man, he was jumping around like a kid in some situations, wish it was more mature dealing with the reactions of the adult characters.

If Hishiro was the subject 001, what I dont get is: why is she in her second year in the ReLife program? It is said many time that the program is for one year only, and yet, we have Hishiro that is in her second year.
That is really weird. Something particular should had happened to her if they decided give her another year.

Anyway, this anime was very beautiful. I loved it.

It was a really good series, the only issue, as is often the case in anime is that it's unfinished and thus I'm left wanting and a bit unfulfilled.

I honestly felt I was misled into watching this show. The show starts off interestingly enough in the first episode but immediately went downhill from the second episode. As a viewer I was expecting the story to be focused more on Arata and his NEET problems but instead got subplots with highschool melodrama and cheesy humor. The story is alright but feels kinda pointless as I failed to understand the logic of how being in highschool and helping teenagers with their problems makes Arata confident about himself in his work life.

In addition, Arata's presence in the show is just like the fading fireworks he talk about in the end. His role as a protagonist rather seemed like a supporting character or observer in the background with little to no significance. Furthermore, the character of Arata is quite bland, boring, dumb and wuss-like who often complains about his life like an old man. I don't know if this was done purposely to make him more comical but it failed to impress me. I guess maybe this is a new trend in SOL-themed anime. But I kinda like Oga's character and his dense nature.

But despite all this I wanted to continue to watch till the end as I was somewhat hopeful that show will focus more on the main story but it didn't. It was truly a waste of time and potential.

I figure so, that it's one of them
But I never though it's Hishiro, because 1 year thingy
So does that mean you can prolong your relife?
Probably this is her last year two, she got 2nd chance

It's a nice ending, I like it :)
I'm looking forward for those two finally realized that they both in a same program
And become a couple, like those two dorks Kariu and Oga xD

Yes! Since Chizuru is a subject then it isn't weird to ship her and Kaizaki together!

Well, I already predicted that Chizuru's the subject 001. I guess this is one of the series that I at least am satisfied with the ending despite it doesn't have a closure. I'll miss Onoya though and to be frank, I don't like girls like Chizuru. Nice anime still.

The show is also very wishy–washy about the NEET aspect as well,we see him having a part time job and doing somewhat ok for himself, but every one who knows about him acts like hes a complete deadbeat looser.
Also that damn 'hes failing at every test' joke was beaten into the ground and didn't even make sense.

I'm also feeling like i'm missing something about this show, because there really aren't that many redeeming qualities.

Can I just say how much I loved this series altogether.
The comedy is just awesome.
The drama is slight but quite on point.
And just man I am such a sucker for romance (It's kinda lacking in my own fucking life... Bwaaaa)
Just everything combined so well... Man, so good. 9/10 at least.

Good ending, but since I saw that the Manga is going on we need a second season.

Strenghts
I think the comedy aspect was one of the strongest parts of the show. It was funny, sometimes weird, sometimes slapstick. It had a good amount of "running gags" (Hishiros Smile). Of course not everything was perfect, but it was really good. The drama was ok-good. Sometimes I felt it was a bit annoying or repetetiv (Kariu screwing ppl). I think Arata as the MC worked really well, even though he sometimes wasn't the focus point of the plot, but it always felt like I would be in a high school class an give them honest life advices.

Weaknesses
I think the ReLIFE lab was a blatant logical mess. How would anyone as a NEET and possibly in somewhat a life crisis need to go one year to high school and possibly have a great time and maybe make new friends, when you cant keep them? Would it not create more pain, because in the end you would again lose something you really loved? Maybe thats based on my experiences I made in my life and that there are times were I really miss my high school life. I was a bit like Arata, I could easily make friends in classes, hell I even switched school in 10th (of 12) grade and instantly got friends. It is nothing like that anymore, not even at university, at least for me.
I think the whole ReLIFE project would make more sense, when you could go back to school and give it a second shot, take a different approach, make something different out of your life and you would STAY at your "new" age. Thus you would keep your friends.

I give it a 7/10 and will watch the second season.

P.S: Its also so sad that Hishiro and Arata will never know that they are both subjects and if their experiment ends they could meet up. Still, I wonder if they both would confess to each other, the experiment would have to end immidieatly by the rules, if they would have any memories? Because the subject is keeping his memories.

Enjoyed the first and last episode of the series, but felt the rest of the episodes were pretty average. One thing that puzzles me though is if the drug only last 1 year how is it Chizuru is still a on the drug as she is surely on her second year at least as she had already been at the school a year before Arata joined????

I was wanting to guess for myself who 001 was, for this reason I decided not to read the wiki and I usually don't mine spoilers, Then in this episode there was a flashback going so fast and I didn't see it coming to stop it in time.

"you have been chosen as test subject 001" and I was like "oooooooooooohhh..."

Anyways it was one of my top guesses anyway, so its not all bad.

At the pace this show was going, I can see room for a second season.

Anime seems to be getting better lately. Fan-service is great and all that but its nice to have a show that doesn't rely on it. I really identified with Arata Kaizaki, his life in this show kinda mirrored the past year and a half of my life. Usually if I watch a show and a character is kinda a loser and he makes a turnaround, whether realistically or unrealistically and some point I lost interest because we weren't in resonance anymore. This is one of a growing number of shows I've noticed being a step or two above the rest, and this show in particular really speaks to me.

When I watch a show I start at 7 and with each episode I either go up or down and then the final exam is how the show ends. Sometimes I go back and adjust a score I gave when things were left unresolved, whenever there is a sequel. With this show, it was tied up enough to leave me content if that's all the ReLIFE I get, and yet open enough for a second season.

I give this show a solid 10, and I don't say that lightly.
I like Hentai, you like real life.
Instead of complaining about my tastes, be grateful you now don't have to compete against me.

Wtff was this ending? They built up such an incredible hype train with all the ships only for it to fizzle towards the end.....

I was surprisingly shocked by the reveal behind Hishiro, they created so many plot conveniences by focusing solely on Arata's interactions with the supports - there was absolutely, not even the slightest red herring to suggest Ryou was working with Hishiro.

Minor plothole - considering how we know now a Relife can last for longer than a year, is it possible that Arata will be given the option to extend his (surely he will if subject 1's identity is revealed to him).

For a second I thought that Hishiro may have been Arata's senpai but I guess this is an entirely different matter.

Lastly, this series is really oozing Shinkai feels, it's a shame they didn't take the production level + plot to that level. This could have been something truly amazing had Shinkai produced.refined this series.

E: WTF is this 4 episode Kanketsu-hen?? How the heck will they end this in 4 episodes??

This is the last episode? I thought there would be more with an ending like this.

Anyhow, this was anime was pretty good. Didn't really like the drama in the mini-arc with the sports girls, but luckily it picked up again after that. That plot twist in the final episode changed everything, making the pairing with Chizuru a lot more sensible. I suppose I'll be waiting for the additional episodes to come out, then.

Up there with one of the most infuriating endings I've seen in awhile. There's lame, and then there's this. Why even bother making an anime adaption with no ending? This was not a conclusion.

5/10 for now, easy 2/10 if there's not a second season coming with an actual ending.

Above average school anime with a below average finale, if you can even call it that. Might make it 6/10 when I'm done being pissed.

I mean it's obvious that there is more to the story (feel free to spoil me if they get together or not, I'd actually like to know), but the problem is that this is to be judged for what it is. And it's not satisfying. Maybe in the future it will be satisfying, but that's for a fortune teller to say. As of now, this was a major let down. Here's hoping for a S2?

Kaizaki and Hishiro's ship wasn't the main priority of this season, it was only a nuance into the next season (largely triggered by Ooga and Karui's romance). So, yeah you'll definitely get a S2 but don't get your hopes up too high - the manga itself hasn't ended and there's no telling whether your "actual ending" will happen in 4 episodes.

The manga to date has been a nice follow imo up to how S1 ended which is why i'm recommending it. I felt the same way after finishing this series.

It was odd how side characters' romance took priority over anything else.

I just skimmed through 186,187, and 188, and

Judging RELIFE by its merits as a school anime which are a dime a dozen, it does stand out as above average which is why a 6/10 rating seems about right. If the webcomic decides to go beyond the school setting into the adult lives of the 2 main characters then that would be something to look forward to.

The ending was just enough to get this to a 7. I really liked the twist with Chizuru and they were successful in making me want to start reading the manga to continue the story.

Overall a decent series. I adore the concept, it's something I've thought about myself before the anime even aired. However, I didn't find many of the characters likable at all and the art was very plain. I warmed up to Chizuru though.

We'll be getting 4 more episodes in March, but it's sounding like it will be an anime-only ending which is something I'm not a fan of. I'll watch, but I may very well be picking up the manga soon enough.
