The 51st issue of Weekly Shounen Jump has announced on Monday that Daisuke Ashihara's World Trigger manga will go on an indefinite hiatus starting today's issue due to the Ashihara's poor health. The editorial department of Weekly Shounen Jump stated that the series will be on hiatus for a while. The return date of the series will be announced in a future issue of the magazine.

World Trigger began its serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump in February 2013. The series currently has 16 volumes in print with latest volume published on September 2, 2016. VIZ Media has been publishing the manga in North America since October 2014. A one-shot featuring Yuuichi Jin as the main character was released in October 2011 prior to serialization of the main series. It was made into a 4-episode VOMIC series in December 2013 and a 73-episode TV anime by Toei Animation, which aired between October 2014 and April 2016. Two game adaptations of the series have been released for PlayStation Vita and smartphone devices in 2015.

Get well soon, Ashihara sensei. I hope this is nothing serious, with how often his illness strikes.

This news came at the right time, I was thinking of reading the manga but the hiatus helped me with my decision.

and the manga just starting final battle for B-class rank battle saga... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKK...

well.. looking for how often he get hiatuses lately, i know it will coming... however, i hope it's nothing really bad and get well soon... i don't even mind if he change his current harsh weekly schedule to more lax one and reduce his amount of release... underrated series IMHO...

so, what's your decision? ( 'v') honestly, this manga is certainly "worth the wait" the flow of the story is nice, and it gets more interesting..

This is sad to hear - to deteriorate further even after those 'mini' hiatuses of late too.

Please take all the required time to rest and recover Ashihara sensei! Waiting patiently and very much looking forward to WT's return!

Well I guess it's time to re-read the manga now.

Stopped at the worst possible point tho, the wait is torture ;~;

He has cervical spondylosis (wear and tear on neck area of spinal column), which is just made worse since he draws manga which aggravates the issue due to the long sitting postures.

Oh no Ashihara-sensei ;(
This is really sad... I hope he gets better soon and that the illness is only temporary. The manga became one of my weekly favourites in the last couple of months. Health is very important, so he should take as much time as necessary to heal.
Get well Ashihara-sensei!

Not reading it yet. :P I've never been a fan of reading an on-going manga, but sometimes I read them because they look interesting. A lot of stories are 'worth the wait', but I tend to lose the flare for the series if it doesn't update frequent enough like I did for Shingeki no Kyojin so I wouldn't want it to happen with this series.

I hope the author gets better (and doesn't become the next Togashi), but at least this gives me time to catch up.

Yes. Don't expect him to become as competent as the others until he has at least 2+ years of experience under his belt.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

It won't. For multiple reasons, mainly:
1. It is not as popular as HXH, the author can't afford to do the same
2. Ashihara seems to be a lot more enthusiastic about his manga than Togashi is about HXH.
3. Ashihara has more respect for his work and fans than Togashi, if he was going to stop for good he would actually come out and say it.
