Puck's killed him twice... Subaru was a casualty... But it might be that Puck didn't care about him anymore, after Emilia supposedly died. First time was when he tried to open the door, and was frozen to death... That ice seemed to be a magical, never-melting one.

The last few minutes before the credits especially were brilliant

True, but I like the after-credit sequence too!
I can't believe I'm saying this - but I'm actually really interested to see what Subaru does next week. It's a bloody miracle

No it isn't. First time was by his mistake. Many would consider those deaths better than having him kill himself.

Did you even read what you wrote. If he'd started to hate her I'd give this show a 10/10. Kick out the worst girl. Hahaha. But that will never happen. I'm not psychic. It's common sense.

How the show feels to me is how the show feels to me. To me it lacks tension because I know what's going to happen. It's not a criticism. That's how I felt. If you felt different more power to you. Everything affects people differently. Just like how everyone likes different kinds of music and finds music others love really annoying.

She already isn't and won't be appearing much. It's like he predicted this, too... Ah, can't be... Eh.

The author himself is obsessed with emilia "which is why subaru in his turn obsessed with her for no reason xD " hate seems too much but it will be great twist if he starts to develop negative emotions torward emillia since one of the reason i don't like her that much is her forced relationship with subaru "which is again a lot of people said it don't make sense "

We know Subaru has too much PTSD to kill himself but he desperately needs to reset.

The Cultist left so they can't kill him. No one else is around to kill him cause they are dead. So we need to find a way to kill Subaru. Let him freeze to death 'by accident'.

Everyone is dead again and the Cultist left. Ok we need to find someone to kill him again. Puck will do.

I agree with this too to some extent, tbh

The actual character "Sloth" seemed to be just a copy of Caster from F/Z turned up to 11, and a lot of the gruesome moments were really overkill.

But I don't think that's what made this episode great. If they only toned that edginess down, this episode still would've had a lot of emotional impact.

Then again, this does seem to be the style of the show. This episode wasn't much more edgy than many of the earlier deaths Subaru has faced.

Brutal. Unforgiving. Intense. Emotional. Only a handful of words that describes this incredibly powerful episode.

Rem has officially shown that through and through she is both a wonderful and compelling character and friend.

Subaru has been through so much, unfairly so. Unfairly thrown into a foreign world with no help, no information, and no guidance. His sheer perseverance and determination deserve the highest of praises. I've always bee a Subaru supporter, as he's always fought for what he's believed in with unbridled passion despite the odds being stacked against him. Again, no one in this series has endured the pain, stress and suffering he has; so I believe he's always been in the right, save for his argument with Emilia. However, Emilia is a hypocrite with her complaints of Subaru not telling her everything, because she keeps just as many secrets.

Finally, after so much death and insanity, Subaru has a clear goal: Destroy this witch cult. His eyes at the end were easily my favorite part of this episode.

The episode itself was masterfully shot and executed, all the way down to the credits. Massive kudos for White Fox. I can only assume the massive beast at the end was Puck, who I believe knows Subaru's full situation.

I sincerely hope things finally start going Subaru's way next episode.

When a show goes edgy, even Puck becomes an edgelord.

First of all the ep starts with edge and a lot of it feels unneeded as MC angsts over destroyed mansion and dead characters and keeps realizing what a piece of shit of a person he is. I mean did we not go through this when the curse killed Rem in Arc 2? Oh wait we did. So this is repeat of that, except with more edge and gore, which is not why I watch Rezero for. The whole freezing part at the start was too much. NOPE. Fuck that.

Anyway, new villain looks and acts like he escaped from Akame Ga Kill. What the fuck is even such a character?
Fucking had to fast-forward the scenes with the edgy villain because of how disgusting they were. Most of the dude's whose name is too hard to remember screentime was half disgust half disbelief on whether I should take it seriously. I would not if most of the shit he does was not this gory and revolting. Ugh

Overall Rem was the saving grace of the episode. Out of entire cast, she remains the most likeable and badass character.

And Subaru still remains a pitiful asshole. At least hopefully this will serve as a lesson to him. Now hopefully since we are done with this we can actually see Subaru fix this shit and stop being an asshole in progress, instead of this gruesome torture porn.

Your criticism is easily some of the worst, most inconsistent I've ever seen. Be it this, My Hero Academia, or your laughably undeserved praises of the latest Twin Generic Star Exorcist episode or pretty much anything RWBY related. I've tried to keep my mouth shut as everyone has the right to their opinion, but Jesus you could not be more wrong about Subaru's incredibly realistic, natural, and terrific character development. Just drop this show, because you're clearly never ever going to be satisfied.

I am completely left speechless after finishing this episode. Just when you thought things couldn't get any more brutal.... This episode left one big impact, incredible. From beginning to end, my mouth was wide open. Literally. So invested. This has gotta one of the best episodes I've ever seen. It was painful, emotional and brutal.

Really, this show just gets better and better by each episode. Matsuoka's voice acting in this episode as the villain was perfect. It was twisted. He fucking pulled it off here. He knows how to do it. 10/10 voice acting there. BRILLIANT.

THANK YOU WHITE FOX.

Dude, he could've simply jumped off the cliff again, after letting go of Rem's corpse. It wasn't far from there. The first was by his mistake, yeah. I just rewatched it, and didn't you notice? He was already freezing, the moment he touched the door. That magical ice is deadly. But he wasn't aware of how much. In Elsa's case, they were in the open. So it couldn't cool the area... Re:Zero is at it's best when it's a fantasy thriller because it's no longer boring.

Rem proves that to be the best character in a show, you have to 1. actually have a semblance of character and 2. make sure your competition doesn't and the one guy who does switches over terribly

That was the best episode of ANY SHOW THIS YEAR.
I'm a big fan of Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and just this episode has shown Betelguese to be his best role ever. Fucking phenomenal.
The absolute madness of everything; full force for twenty-five minutes. An ending so negative that the credits are red. I watched it a second time and was still blown away by how well animated and directed this is. We're fifteen episodes into this and the show still looks amazing, what the fuck? How did White Fox even do this?

2. No, it really isn't. Anyone who is complaining about Subaru's character is upset because they expected some perfect little protagonist, instead of a deep, well thought out, flawed individual with his own personal battles to overcome.

You need to go somewhere else because you can't handle people having a different opinion when watching shows. If he doesn't like something that's popular and wants to voice his opinion or watch things he doesn't like. That's his business.

So you believe he has that, huh? No, he has not. Sure he fears the pain. But I had just given you an example of painless death. And he has to revive them, yeah. As he wants to succeed. They're vital. He can't give up anymore. Because he's also related to all this. There's no issue with him making use of his ability. It's there for that.

I hope everyone that shit talked now understands why Subaru is the way he is. I also hope you feel like complete jackasses for the way you shit talked on him in previous episodes.

Rem proves that to be the best character in a show, you have to 1. actually have a semblance of character and 2. make sure your competition doesn't and the one guy who does switches over terribly

1. if you've tried to keep your mouth shut, why are you suddenly opening up now?

2. his criticism is pretty much spot-on. This is a much edgier version of episode 7, and it was only entertaining as a thriller. The new villain is comically over the top and crazy. Subaru has not developed. Subaru's developement has basically been "i'm an ok guy that's been going through stress from this stuff i've been dealing with- suddenly i'm an unredeemable asshole"

3. just because you don't like something doesn't mean you have to drop it. Don't tell people to drop everything they don't like so you don't recieve negative criticism.

Can you explain what edgy means to me please, the definition I looked up seems to be different from the way others are using it.

Because I totally didn't say people have the right to their own opinions right? All he does is shit talk, all the time, about anything popular. It makes you wonder if the guy is just a sadist for watching stuff he doesn't like.

Did I say my opinion is superior? I'm just calling him out on his blatant bullshit, like others have in the past AKA the past 8+ weeks of My Hero Academia thread drama between him and about 100 other users.

Why don't you go somewhere else keyboard warrior?

Says he doesn't consider his opinion superior. Ends his reply with name-calling. A true gentleman. Enough said.

Because name calling equates to superiority right? Because your blatant assumptions are even better right?

You need to go somewhere else because you can't handle people having a different opinion when watching shows. If he doesn't like something that's popular and wants to voice his opinion or watch things he doesn't like. That's his business.

You do realize a forum is also a place where people can challenge others' opinions on things right?

If he doesn't have PTSD then he should keep killing himself Edge of Tomorrow/Groundhog day style and actually master a few useful fighting skills before the next horrible tragedy. But he never does and never will.

Let me try understand what you're saying here. The girl who saved his life, gave him stability (a job, shelter and food) supported him and is still cares enough to have his injuries treated despite they fight is forced, compared to another who killed him in one timeline then tortured him another... Do realize how backwards that sounds right?

Rem maybe better now but doesn't change she did do terrible things to Subaru at one point so if any relationship is closer to being forced it is her's. But I don't think there any forced relationships to begin with, everyone here had their reasons to grow attached to each even if some people desperately want to forget that.

Is that a fancy title you get by reading the source material? We know he needs to die soon to reset because everyone died. Who else is going to take his life, the cultist left. Everyone in the area is dead. He isn't going to kill himself because PTSD. He needs a reset.

The point of my post that you comment was dumb and your excuse of plot convenience is blanket statement to bash the plot developments. We that story progress through loops since day, it's very concept and core of this show, not something randomly just for sake of it. You're whining about it is inane.

Yes, you challenge other's opinions by actually making valid counter-arguments instead of name calling and insulting other people's taste.

It's plot convenience when he finds the perfect situation to get himself killed soon after everyone dies/he doesn't have the balls to kill himself/he needs a reset. Any kind of super lucky coincidence that happens with the sole purpose of furthering the plot is plot convenience. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SuspiciouslyConvenientIndex

Er... no... not at all, actually.

What he went through in this episode to traumatize him has absolutely no impact on before, so he was just as much an asshole then. Yes, he was traumatized from previous deaths then too, but that would be unrelated to his instinctively self-centered nature which he would've had all along.

Hopefully he can start redeeming himself now, but that doesn't change what's happened before

I don't like RWBY and Twin Star is alright but everyone has their own personal preference and a right to express their opinion. If you want to be trapped in your own bubble where you think your opinion is superior to others then don't read forums. You might actually find that people have different opinions from you. SHOCKING I know.

Let people enjoy what they enjoy if you don't think their criticism is valid then argue your point. Otherwise move on.

1. Because after seeing his whiney bullshit for 5 months, I've had enough?

2. No, it really isn't. Anyone who is complaining about Subaru's character is upset because they expected some perfect little protagonist, instead of a deep, well thought out, flawed individual with his own personal battles to overcome.

3. First, I'm going to tell people what I want, you're going to tell me what to do. Second, if you actually read his comments, it sounds like someone who is just watching something to criticize it, rather than watching something hoping it gets better. That's why I told him to drop it.

1. seeing someone that you think is shitty, and eventually saying "hey you're shitty" is not tolerating them, no matter how long you did it. Getting bothered by a single guy that uses the internet because he has opinions is dumb.

2. "they expected a perfect protagonist"
except that was literally never implied ever that subaru would be perfect. Get off your high horse thinking that everyone who hates a character that has suddenly become an asshole for no reason is just a mad weeb who can't self-insert

3. "I tell people what I would like them to do, you tell them what to do"
on the internet, this literally means the same thing. It doesn't matter if he watches shows just to criticize them(despite the fact that this user has praised Re:Zero before) because if that's the shows worth to him, then he can do that.

Buzzword to mean something that is dark and gory, usually applied to things that are needlessy dark and gory/try to be mature but fail miserably.
every single one of my forum posts is dumb and invalid except for 1, I don't claim them it was a different person it was all fake

When Rem got strung-up and twisted around I was going insane! That was fucking brutal.
Rem had some great moments and some great quotes while wanting to protect Subaru.

That confession at the end though...I was in tears.

Then that fucking GIANT WOLF!!!! "Sleep...along with my daughter" *headless* GOD DAMN!!!!!! who could the Daughter have been???? Add another mystery to the list.

Those Subaru eyes at the end though...determination.

I'm pretty sure that's Puck talking about Emilia
