A shame Nana to Kaoru volume 17 didn't rank but it only had 3 days sales, hoping but not expecting it to rank next week.

It's got a beautiful cover yet again.

*2. 131,767 *,132,701 Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji Vol.15
*6. *99,741 *,100,068 Nijiiro Days Vol.12
25. *37,928 *,*37,928 Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio Vol.12

Nijiiro Days hitting 100k, not sure if it was doing likewise before the anime but nevertheless fab to see, wonderful series. Ookami still selling incredibly well, good good. Arpeggio still going strong, would love another movie / season / reboot at some point.

Rather stable sales for Terra formars, but will that live action film affect the sales in any way?

Golden kamui hopefully it reaches 200k before leaving the top 50 but that looks a bit hard.

Vanitas no carte probably won't reach 100k

Next week both Bleach and Gintama will have a full week of sales(came out in the 2nd)

Eh, maybe
Vol 80 sold 2,627,172 copies in 5 weeks(pre-sales also counts as a week), so it's still almost 300k behind
But at least this week vol 81 managed to sell more than vol 80 did
it sold 22k more than vol 80 did in it's 5th week, so it might catch up slowly
But vol 81 will probably be the least sold Volume of OP this year

SNK volume 19 is 189k behind right now and vol 18 even did better in its 4th week than this volume

That's odd, the series ended like a month ago and still has two more volumes to release? Was the volumes delayed or something?

Anyways if snk continues to sell this badly in this volume and the next volume. Assclass could beat it by the end of the year manga sales since it has two more volumes compare to snk 1 and it sells like 900k-1m per volume.

It's normal. There's always 1-3 months between chapter releases in the magazin and tankobon releases of the manga.

BTW. Glad Nanoha ViVid is still selling. last volumes even added a bit although sales are still dropped from the first ones.

What I meant is this. For eg. Naruto eneded in October and its final volume came out in December, normally when a series ends it only has one more volume to release, not three more like assclass, Unless assclass releases double chapters a week or something? Correct me if I'm wrong but for weekly series, a series needs around 9-10 chapters to make a tankabon volume? So I'm guessing assclass doesn't include that many chapters in its volume?

Maybe I'm missing something? :/

Boku no hero academia rankings in Shonen jump are amazing and it still has a lot of time for improvement, dunno why try and knock it for not reaching Naruto level manga sales at(at the moment).

In fact it has already replaced the hole left by Naruto , Its one of the most popular titles in Weekly Shounen Jump , Shueisha want to revitalize jump and their young titles like Black clover and Boku no hero academia doing well in the rankings are great for them (But will they push the Jump towards another golden age?)

Golden age of Jump was when Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk were in it for those who don't know

It's hard to compare the Jump right now to its golden era . In Mid 1990s there were 6.5 millions magazine bought per week, compare to 2.5 millions copies .

And there were so many hits during that period

Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Slam Dunk dominated the the mid 80's and early 90's

Then One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, even Yugioh and Prince of Tennis dominated mid 90's to early 2000's .

But nonetheless, I really hope we see another golden age of Jump new generation. I think Jump has one of the best line up at the moment right now .

This obsession over BnHA not reaching Naruto status already is getting pathetic especially when Naruto didn't start selling in the millions per copy 8 volumes in (at 10 volumes it had sold 5 million copies while at 8 volumes BnHA is at 3.9 million) we're just have to wait by the end of the year to see fruition but volume 8 has some steady legs as it is.

Not quite, Jump's Golden Age was in the 80's when they had non-stop hits like Fist of the North Star, Saint Seiya and of course Dragon Ball and had its highest circulations during that period where every other person was reading Jump it was during the 90's the sales started to drop and reached its lowest that even Shounen Sunday started to beat it after Dragonball ended and didn't have another hit until Rurouni Kenshin and then the onslaught of One Piece, Hunter x Hunter and Naruto came and brought its circulations up again. It does seem like they're in the midst of finding their next successors now that Naruto and AssClass are done and Bleach, Gintama and apparently Toriko are wrapping up within the next year.

I strongly disagree, the current title of jumps aren't really anything special. Other shounen magazine has way more interesting titles. Opinion I guess though.

Shounen Sunday's and Shounen Magazine lineups are absolute crap biggest problem with both of them is that they refuse to scout new talent and instead continue to circulate the old artists they have, hell Sunday is doing bad enough that the new editor in chief is going to copy Jump's formula of axing low ranking series.

Golden age was mid 80s to mid 90s
Dragon ball , Slam dunk and Yu hakusho and many other manga that we consider classics were serialized back then
in fact the highest circulation numbers were from 1990 to 1995 dunno why you tried to exclude it.
Dragon ball ended in 1995 and Slam Dunk in 1996, 1997 and 1998 the sales of shounen plummeted, it still has never reached the same heights of the golden age again

It has dates listed with them. Why are you lying lmao? Forget that, why aren't you even posting any of your sources?
Neither OP nor Naruto sold 1 million copies in their first releases since Shuiesha only distributes a certain number of copies before increasing their print runs. Way to fail

And it never said OP's first release print was 1 million. It clearly states volume 1's first print was 300k.

After four weeks:

*4. 130,195 1,587,692 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.18
*5. 103,664 1,398,495 Shingeki no Kyojin Vol.19

*7. *66,091 2,627,172 One Piece Vol.80
*8. *88,252 2,332,977 One Piece Vol.81

Snk vol.19 is 12% down on vol.18's sales at the same point while OP vol.81 is 11.2% down so both of them have lost more or less the same number of readers at this point in time(relatively speaking). Both also sold less in their fourth weeks than their respective counterparts did. However, they still have five days of Golden Week coming ahead so I expect them to do better than their predecessors in their respective fifth weeks.

Weekly Top 10

1/ Boku dake ga inai machi/Erased (243 750)
2/ Kingdom (209 983)
3/ Boku no Hero Academia (186 185)
4/ Terra Formars (171 321)
5/ Ōkami Shōjo to Kuro Ōji (145 851)
6/ Uchuu Kyoudai/Space Brothers (137 092)
7/ Shingeki no Kyojin (133 105)
8/ ONE PIECE (129 517)
9/ Assassination Classroom (116 537)
10/ Seven Deadly Sins (115 186)

So the backlog volumes of BnHA sold 22k on average... that's actually a lot. The very high thresholds are preventing us from seeing what their cumulative totals are but I assume volume 1 is closing in on 600k right now. I still think that the individual volumes will end up in the 500k to 600k yearly range overall (perhaps slightly less).

And Kingdom's boost doesn't seem to be completely over.

Thanks for the info on the top 10 this week, I'm really happy on how BNHA is doing manga sale-wise

Nope the date indicates the time the data was released. Volume 1-5 for Naruto were released in 2000 and the date for volume 1-6's print number is in April 2001. Just before volume 7 was out.

Yes but they're not the amount it sold AT THE TIME, they’re the amount it sold in total which is anywhere from 2000 to 2006, the date is when they were released not the amount it sold in that exact time frame.

I already told you to stop putting words in my mouth because they're "print numbers" not copies sold. Your reading comprehension has some serious issues since the data for volume 1-6 is for 2000-2001. They're not the amount sold but the number of copies in print until 2001. This is exactly like the tweet by BnHA's twitter account which recently posted the number of copies in print.

おかげさまでコミックスは累計370万部突破!この勢いで突っ走っていきたいと思います。4月からのアニメもよろしくお願いします。

It pretty much states the number of prints for volume 1-7 which was 3.7 million. Now that doesn't mean all of those seven volumes have sold exactly 3.7 million copies in total because if you go back and add them up, you'll get something less

http://myanimelist.net/news/45682864

All volumes had charted in that list. When you add the first seven volumes you get 3.2 million copies sold and it's almost 3.6 million if you include volume 8's sales.

This volume of One Piece actually did better than the previous one, but either way unless legs improve for both OP and SnK starting next week, the upcoming movie and second season will have to do something for their respective series as a >10% decline is quite significant.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

And your "print numbers" does not coincide with the date of release since that site counts re-releases not the amount printed on the time of release hence why I said the data is appacle and YOU need to actually read your links. Nothing in there states that when either had their respective volumes released they sold over 1 million because no series from Shuiesha had a 1 million print run on their first release because not only is that entirely risky its also impossible.

Digital sales

back in 1999, 2000 or 2001 digital sales weren't a thing but now it is a thing.

So comparing Naruto and BNHA based on print numbers isn't really adequate
