That blood drip scene gave me the chills. I knew something was up with Satsuki. She had so many chances to kill Matoi. She even saved Matoi the time Matoi lost her senketsu.
If there's another plot twist and her mother didn't die, has some immortal powers and shit
I believe that if she can't kill her mom off, Matoi will. :o
Was a little more violent than I expected. This series has been pretty tame overall regarding that stuff.
As violent as it was though, Ragyo looked fine and well in the previews so I'm assuming this attack didn't do much. You don't get much feel for mortality in this series despite it being called kill la kill, there isn't much killing going on. Attempted killing sure but it doesn't work out all that well
Edit: Ragyo looks fucking stupid as well. Who honestly gave the go ahead with that design?
And just when I thought Mako vs Gamagoori was the freaking best fight of the entire series, his father vs Gamagoori gives it a new meaning.
Well I DID expect that betrayal coming from a lightspeed year of distance, but not as suddenly as that. So if Satsuki is declaring her "Rebellion" to her mother like that, it is to assume that Ragyo will survive that wound, God knows how? Holy shit!!
Holy stinking balls. That was brutal, sooo epic with the blood shower. I think that it was expected that she would rebel against her mother, but that was way bloodier than I would have thought. The moment I knew for real that she would do something during that ''festival'' was when she saw Ryuuko coming and said that all the elements were there. Why would she want Ryuuko to come if not to have some reinforcement?
The sensei is just too awesome with all these lens flare xD
I like how even in the truck, we could see his shining nipples. It's all in the little detail :P
The story behind the mercenary (I forgot his name) was interresting.
Hey, I'll throw this in and say that Ragyo is Matoi mother and Satsuki is her sister! Okay, I'm only babbling right now xD
I absolutely loved the sake scene, it reminded me of the beginning of Code Geass R2 :3

In Japan it's "Kiru ra Kiru". "Kiru" is a verb meaning "to wear/put on" or "to cut". It's not so much about killing people as creating and discarding ideals, goals, bonds with other people, etc.; your most defining traits. Satsuki has cut off her affiliation with her mother, her "red thread of fate".
Pretty clear they're trying to show Ragyou's vanity and insanity.

kiru is written in katakana though. Plus the official English title is Kill la Kill, not Kiru la kiru.
It was not meant to -directly- mean "to cut", but rather, it is used as a pun on kiru, and how kiru also sounds like the English work "kill"
Like how it was stated that the main theme was chosen because "Fashion" looked and sounded so much like "Fascism"
So long as you yourself enjoy it, what does the thoughts of others matter to you?
A lot of people have been predicting Satsuki would turn against her mother (either because they've read ahead in the manga or their own predictions), but I wasn't expecting it to be now or like that! Any normal human being would be dead after being ran through and crucified on one of those three-star beams, but I have a feeling Ragyo is just getting started.
I loved Mako's family standing up for her, especially when her dad suddenly shifted to a realistic art style, only to turn back into their normal, goofy selves when they found out that yes, there will be punch and pie. :P LOL at the brother just covering himself in body paint and avoiding the takeover of the Life Fibers.
Shit has definitely hit the fan ... can't wait to see how this develops next episode! Will Ragyo be able to hold off the Elite 4 and 2 Kamui suits by herself, or will she have her own minions to set against them?
Also, I have to wonder what kind of time slot Kill la Kill is in, when they can get away with showing tons of blood spraying out of Ragyo without a hint of a censor, yet Pupa is covered in vast black swaths ... maybe other shows have started hiding the gore along with the tits in order to increase Blu-Ray sales?

There's a theory that Ragyo might be being controlled by life fibers which could explain how she was still alive in the next episode preview.
I kind of figured a rebellion was going to happen, since that's totally Satsuki's character, hell she even has a line that says she'll exploit all of those around her, think it's from Gamagori's back story episode. Will our antagonist switch after this episode? What will come of Satsuki and Ryuuko's relationship?
OH MY GAAAAHHHHHD WHHHHHATTTTTTTTT
I DIDNT THINK IT WOULD HAPPEN BUT IT HAPPENED!!!!
SATSUKI REALLY WAS PLANNING TO TAKE HER MOM DOWN ALL ALONG
HOLY FACK THIS IS AMAZING
(1st half hella drag tho)

@Lrdwhyt and Portality
I'm well aware of all that. I'm just stating the theme of the show, and I'm sure that the pun on cutting wasn't all that unintentional.

But that is all that matters. That Satsuki would end up being a quasi-hero (but not a true hero, the point isn't to rebel against clothing but to become friends with them) was obvious from the beginning, so it wasn't a matter of what, but a matter of when, and damn they pulled the when off beautifully (and the four (but actually five or is it six?) standing behind her with those smiles), next week cannot come too soon.
What a great episode. This show really deserves to become a classic.
...I started speculating on this back in episode 9!...
...It took a little longer to happen than I expected, but... ...It happened!...
Virtual_BS said: My Original prediction (EP9):
This is the only way I can see things happening with what has been revealed so far...
Ryuuko will defeat the remainder of the Elite Four at one per episode, taking us to the end of ep12.
These fights will be challenging and Ryuuko will take a beating, but ultimately work out some strategy/level-up to end it at the end of each episode.
Ryuuko may or may not fight Satsuki in ep13, but that wouldn't have any impact on the second part of the story.
At this point (ep13 or ep14), Satsuki will reveal the truth which will go something like this:
The person that killed Ryuuko's father is Satsuki's greatest enemy.
An enemy that Satsuki herself is not strong enough to beat.
This being the reason Satsuki established that school system - to raise an army capable of challenging said enemy.
...With the most powerful uniforms ending up in the hands of the strongest warriors...
Her army was still not strong enough to challenge said enemy, with Ryuuko being the tipping factor.
She forced Ryuuko to fight her way to the top before telling her the truth because:
She wanted to get Ryuuko into the school system so that she didn't just run away and start a fight on her own.
She wanted to verify that Ryuuko will be strong enough to for the impending boss battle.
She wanted let Ryuuko gain fighting experience to become strong enough for the impending boss battle.
She wanted to keep her around as a strong opponent for her club leaders and elite four to gain more experience.
She saw potential for Ryuuko to be the leader of her army.
The reason for school system being structured to determine the wealth of the families is to motivate students to better themselves and their fighting ability.
This will ultimately mean that Ryuuko and Satsuki will unite against a new enemy for the remainder of the series.
The structure of the anime will probably change from a one-on-one challenge battles to an all out war involving all the characters revealed so far fighting together.
The Elite Four may also get stronger and we may see some successful four star uniforms.
Virtual_BS said: Update (EP10):
I foresee an upcoming twist with the new character, Harime Nui.
We don't yet know if she'll turn out to be a supporter or opponent, but it should definitely make the plot more interesting.
(Although surprise opponent is most likely the way this series goes)
Virtual_BS said: Update (EP11):
So basically, a good portion of my previous prediction was just confirmed.
Harime Nui did indeed turn out to be a surprise opponent.
Moreover, she revealed herself to be the one who killed Ryuuko's father.
Further speculation:
I predict that Satsuki's mother, Ragyou Kiryuuin, is the final boss.
It looks like she also wears "God Clothes"
One of her outfits moved on it's own when she went to get changed.
She's the one who orders Nui Harime (the person that killed Ryuuko's father) around.
Satsuki and Tsumugu both confirmed that.
Satsuki was visibly upset that Nui showed up at her school, knowing that her mother sent her.
I expect the second half of the series to continue as follows:
Ryuuko, Satsuki, the Elite Four, and possibly the entire school spend the second half of the series battling against Satsuki's mother and her subordinates
Regarding "God Clothes" and Goku Uniforms:
"God Clothes" are probably manufactured and widely used by the Kiryuuin family.
They may be partly responsible for the family's vast power and influence.
Maybe they even sell them as weapons to other elites.
Satsuki probably designed the Goku Uniforms
...as a scaled down version of "God Clothes" that regular people can wear...
So that she can build her army to fight against her own family.
The Sword-Scissor may have been made by the Kiryuuin family to counteract that.
It is a weapon specifically designed to fight against Goku Uniforms.
In order to ensure that civilians, now armed with life-fibre powered uniforms don't/can't challenge them, they needed a suitable weapon to destroy these uniforms, should the need arise.
Reinforcing the parts of my prediction from EP9 that have yet to come:
Regarding Satsuki making Ryuuko to fight her way to the top before telling her the truth:
In addition to all the previously made points...
She probably knew that Ryuuko would defeat them all and wanted to use the battle data to improve the uniforms of the elite four (and possibly in general)
Regarding Ryuuko and Satsuki uniting against a new enemy for the remainder of the series:
Now we know that this may turn out to be Satsuki's mother.
From the way Satsuki reacted to Nui showing up, it seems that she dislikes her, but likely also hates her own mother.
Satsuki may hate the tyrannous ways of her family...
By acting as a tyrant herself, she can build up her own army without raising too much suspicion.
Satsuki plays the part of the necessary evil to oppose a greater evil for an ultimately good and noble outcome.
Regarding the Elite Four getting stronger with better uniforms:
This episode just confirmed that they're already using Ryuuko's battle data to patch flaws.
So Satsuki may end up with a badass army after all.
Immediate Future Speculation:
Given that Nui seems to be very strong, Ryuuko will probably not defeat her in the next episode alone.
I see this going one of two ways:
The fight spans two episodes.
The fight is inconclusive, or Ryuuko faces a temporary defeat in order for the fight to be concluded later in the series.
If Ryuuko does defeat Nui, she will claim the other half of the Sword-Scissors and use it in future battles against stronger opponents. She may even take it during the battle and use the pair to defeat Nui.
Right after this battle, we'll see Satsuki & Ryuuko join forces.
I don't think we'll see that in this battle, because that would mean that Satsuki would immediately alienate her family, and she's not ready for that yet.
I think she'll keep doing what she's doing for now, but take Ryuuko on-board.
Virtual_BS said: Update (EP12):
...so the Ryuuko/Nui battle was inconclusive in the end.
They're probably saving it for later in the series.
We also know now that Isshin Matoi made both Senketsu and the Sword-Scissors.
The Sword-Scissors being the project that the Kiryuuins found out about, and Senketsu being his secret project.
Satsuki is still playing the bad guy here.
She admitted to using Ryuuko for research & development purposes to improve the Goku Uniforms.
She claims to be the one that ordered Nui to go steal the Sword-Scissors from Isshin Matoi.
Despite still acting like Ryuuko's enemy, it seems that Satsuki's intentions during the battle were to save her.
This indicates that Satsuki still needs Ryuuko for something.
...so I still stand by my theory that she intends to make Ryuuko an ally in her fight against a greater evil.
However, it seems like she wants Ryuuko to hate her with the way that she's selectively disclosing negative information.
So, we'll probably see Ryuuko vs Satsuki going on for a few more episodes than I originally thought.
Also, it is still a mystery how the other schools fit into this and why Satsuki is so determined to dominate them with her "War Uniforms"
...This is where I locked myself out of MAL to make better use of my time.
I just came back now to rub it in.
Some of this still remains to be seen, but, whatever...
Let me top off the speculation with just one more prediction for this week's post:
Given Satsuki's history of struggling to control her uniform, we may see Ryuuko having to save Satsuki from being consumed by Junketsu at some point before the end of the series.
...It took a little longer to happen than I expected, but... ...It happened!...

Tables Turn, Bridges Burn, man your spoiler predictions were top notch. It's nice to see that it happened...albeit that "I KNEW IT" caught me a little off guard there haha.
