----------------------------------------
This episode Kuniko and Kusangi get to know about each other and talk. Then Kuniko gets mad and blows the fact that they were getting along okay.

Also the grandma is Magical Girl Gina, just a guess.

This whole episode was dedicated to showing us some new military equipment... better than absolute filler I suppose.

I'm still not really getting it. Kuniko freaks out for no real reason during the conversation with Kusanagi...and as a result, we're still in the dark about Atlas. But this episode did clear things up for me a tad regarding Kusanagi.

She's just pissed off that Kusanagi complain about his life when he have an easy life compared to everyone she see suffer everyday. For a teenager at her age it's a total normal reaction, even more when we know that Kuniko is more impulsif than anything else.

I really liked this episode.

I get that she's a teenager, but was he complaining? I felt like he was just saying it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Well from her perspective, he lives in a great place while she lives in a shitty place and he is still complaining about his life. He was actually trying to say it may looks like a heave but his life is not that easy as she thinks it to be. And don't forget at the beginning, where was she lived for 2 years. She is not a type who would change her believe because the other say so. For her character to be like this is an understandable reason.

This episode was definitely better than the last one, IMO.
I've noticed that I'm slowly becoming disinterested in the plot, though, so hopefully it will pick up in the next few episodes. Overall, 4/5.

And I also think the grandma is Magical Girl Gina. XD

I totally understand that. I just mean that as a narrative, what was the point in her reaction? Unless they are prepping the two to be a sort of Romeo and Juliet, a good opportunity was missed to have Kuniko understand what Atlas was about. Not to mention that she was the one who started the conversation, and didn't really mind a lot of what he was saying before then. Dramatically, it was just a really clumsy transition and interrupted what could have been good insight.

They're both very ignorant to how each other lives. She thinks that he and all the other Atlas people are living better then the ground dwellers and are keeping it all to themselves. But in actuality there's many different levels a citizen of Atlas can have, some much worse off then others (IE. sent to be sacrifices). There's also many rules they have to follow. Braking a rule may also result in jail or death.

He believes the ground dwellers are causing problems for the Atlas people and also polluting the environment for selfish reasons. In reality their pollution and medaling with Atlas is a result of them just trying to survive.

This episode was better than the last one (mostly by virtue of less screen time for the annoying otaku trio), but Kuniko and her mood swings, yeesh. I know 18 year olds aren't all that grown up, but I feel like Kuniko acts a lot younger than her age (maybe she has some hyperactivity disorder?). Of course, Kusanagi is the typical young and overly idealistic soldier -- and so far, I like him despite that -- so naturally the two are going to clash. (I won't bothering asking why neither just walked away when they were left together.) At least the virtual reality thing was interesting.

Also ... Sayoko the dominatrix? "Call me old hag"? Well. I didn't see that one coming o.o

So as each episode progresses with this show, it just gets more boring. With this episode, they're suddenly bringing a romance aspect to this show.

Kuniko and Kusanagi are both so ignorant, it just annoyed the crap outta me the whole episode. Kuniko thinks that everyone that lives in Atlas is completely happy and rich and have not a care in the world. While Kusanagi is completely against anyone standing up to the government, regardless of how unfair they're treated. I mean, the viewers have already been shown how terrible the people that win the lottery are treated so it just makes him look like a fool when he says how good it is.

Exactly. It was very weird and just wrong, scenaristically speaking. On top of it, the series feels more and more childish and I just can't empathize with any character of the show, I barely remember their names since they are everything but interesting and enjoyable to watch (they don't develop and make the scenario progress either, but we're only at the 5th episode so it may improve). Big dissapointment, I wonder if I'll drop it or watch one more episode.

I hope they decide not to resolve the romance in the series and leave it where it is.

I mean, every now and then there's a show where I think they need to take a romantic possibility and run with it, but this is one of those rare cases where I think it's a bad idea.

The setting and base plot of this show are awesome. But, IMHO, every female (not including the "females") character of this show fails.

The creators are wasting such a good setting with clumsy writing and unnecessary character reactions to make them "more human".

Grandma's Magical Gina XD!

Kuniko went from calm to mad in 2 seconds :o Kusanagi's idealistic talk about civilians and the military working together made me cringe a bit but wow Kuniko really got moody on him. Shame about her boomerang :(

ok episode, but that soldier is severely stupid.

and i love how the MC is holed up in her own little world, like no-one can understand what she is. she's too arrogant of her own suffering.

Well Kusanagi is woefully naive about what Atlas is, they have no interest in letting anyone in to live, just to enslave and experiment on.

Kuniko has a hell of a temper on her. She even threw away her high-tech boomerang on an impulse because of it.
