I guess I'm like everyone else. I started with shounen. Shounen is still my favorite, but I like most genres now.

As many, I was into battle shounen. Now, not so much. I grew out of it.
And I read shit ton of crappy shoujo with the cold/mean type guys. I'm ashamed.

Let's see, I started watching when I was 10 or 11 and my first few series were: Chobits, Dears, Rizelmine, Girls Bravo, Onegai Teacher, and a few others. Then, once I wasn't able to find any remaining Harems, Ecchi, or Romance, when I was 12 I moved onto some Shonen, and watched from the beggining, Naruto, Onepiece, and Bleach. When I was about 13, I decided to start breaking any genre categorization and began watching everything regardless of category or quality.

I used to only like a pretty specific group of series but as I got myself to watch other I was able to handle *almost* every genre around here, even I used to dislike to death yaoi/shounen-ai and yuri/shoujo-ai and now I'm ok with them if are done well.

i started out thinking death note was the best anime, and now it's just "okay" because i've been exposed to so many better anime.

Well I think everyone started with shounen so yeah. I don't have any clear tastes now nor have they changed dramatically. I've only found new things that I enjoy as well. Stuff like SOL and romance but that hasn't changed my opinion on shounen. I just like everything that's good.

oh my god yes, hell elfen lied was my favorite anime of all time at one point, and kimi ga nozomu eien which i consider to be one of if not the worst anime iv ever watched was once a 10/10 for me

I was also obsessed with romance and only watch things with romance in them, i gave everything high scores rarely giving any 6's or below, and worst of all i forced my shitty opinions down other peoples throats, i was exactly who my sig is telling off

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

When I first started watching I would only watch dubbed harem anime and I would never watch anything subbed. So my taste in anime has changed a lot.

Yup, I'd say it's changed.

When I was a child, I just watch romantic comedy anime. But then Shounen Jump came. The legendary One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Hunter X Hunter, Gintama, Beelzebub, Kuroko no Basuke, Sket Dance, Death Note AND A WHOOOOOOOLE LOT MORE made me into a Shounen manga/anime lover :))) Still, I love both genres.

I'm definitely expanding my preferences, but I can't say my taste change that much... Just by giving a quick look to my list, it's easy to see that I mostly watch anime with some sort of action.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Interestingly... not.

Of course, I have expanded my interest on anime by watching different genres and styles, but when I rewatch the shows I started with, it turns that I still love them. If anything this has mostly served me to reinforce my opinion in many cases.

I think my only real change is that now I'm more into experimental stuff.

I started out, like many other people here, obsessed with Shounen, because that's all I'd ever really watched. As I started exploring, I fell in love with the horror/thriller/mystery genre.

No it hasn't change, it's expanded. I still mostly like what I used to like. I just now have more experience so I now see some of them as cliche. And I've discovered more genres and types so my time is more spread out.

Quoting myself from the other thread about this:
IntroverTurtle said:
I don't think I would say changed, maybe grew. I think everyone in the beginning searches almost solely the genre or type that got them into anime for that feeling they got from it. For me it was battle shounens, and now they are still one of my favorite types if not my favorite. But I now like many other genres and types as well and have favorites and 10s in them. So my taste didn't really change, but expanded still keeping my previous taste just gaining in experience and appreciating the genres and types for what they bring that's different from the rest.

Yes it did. Back in the days I thought Naruto and Bleach were the best anime ever. That, and I wouldn't give anything without any action in it a chance. Right now I give pretty much anything a chance.

Having said that , Shounen is still probably my favourite genre.

Yes. I started out with shounen as well.

Now, I find some shounen kinda stupid and repetitive. The genre I like the most now is probably romance.
Also, anime that actually get you thinking are really nice.

QFT, its actually what happened to me

p.s i would more say that actually i watch any genre atm, i just like anime in general

It went like this:
Shounen/fighting (7-11 years old) ---> Shoujo/josei/romance (12-15 years old) ---> Mystery/detective (16-17 years old) ---> Sports/reverse harem/josei (Now) + Anything with an Interesting Story

Pokemon was one of my starters and it's help me in not accepting repitition. :)
I was heavily into action and still am, but a lack of plot/slow plot and dull/cliche characters (types that weren't cliche when I started) are an instant off putting factor - the synthisis has to be really interesting for me to keep it up- even then it'll have to be short.

i don't even know!
i started with stuff like Macross Plus and some part of Getter Robo. Went onto my favorite shoujo/reverse Hana Yori Dango

since then its just been a matter of the right circumstances, stumbling onto things, and a lot of research.

i guess my taste was, and still is, all over the place. sadly i don't get a lot of watching time in

I don't really think so. Ranma 1/2 was the first manga and anime I started out with, and I still think it's one of the best around and I still enjoy plenty of other old animes I watched by that time. If anything I'd say that my tastes have widened, rather than changed.

My tastes didn't change much, really. I was always a fan of comedy and I still am. I first started watching shounen because I was recommended to watch it but that didn't mean it was in my tastes. I do have to admit I'm becoming less of a fan of harems, because I used to enjoy them when I first started watching and didn't know anything about anime.

Yes, it changed greatly. Three years ago I used to give 10's to titles like Death Note, Clannad: After Story and Toradora!.
Oh, past me, you're so silly.
Now that I've seen quite a bit of titles I'm much harsher when rating anime.

absolutely. i started with shows like lucky star and rosario+vampire (which is funny because comedy and ecchi are now among my least favourite genres). nowadays i find myself a lot more interested in dark dramas and horror. i do have exceptions, of course. :)

Not really, I always have a place in my heart for battle shounens, mahou shoujos and pretty much everything. Though now I usually know what to expect from series I plan to watch, so I'm rarely disappointed or even surprised.

Will admit though, that lately I've been searching for something different, more serious and older (classics?), though that's more about manga I guess.

Well for the most part i was only into certain anime ie: One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and etc.. after awhile i got bored of nothing but fighting so i started to watch romance and slice of life. then recently i began looking at even broader types like shojo and other types that i thought which where primarily meant for women however some can be interesting even for guys to watch.

Well sort of, when I was younger I wasn't picky and I would watch just about anything as long as it was Anime bad story or not as long as the art was reasonably good but now not so much the story has to grab my attention or at least be really funny.

I went through a phase similar to that throughout the majority of 2013, after watching so much mordern mediocrity you'd really get burnt out on the medium as a whole.
