i just started playing visual novels, and let me say that i think im gonna get addicted. i'm playing katawa shoujo (and i love it so far) so i want to know, does anyone have any good visual novel recommendations that have made you feel emotional/made you cry/bittersweet ending/ filled you with nostalgia? one of those. yeah.

good art please :D

Fate stay night. Some moments really wanted to make me wipe a tear away. Both epic and sweet moments. Also Sharin no Kuni had some really touching chapters. And maybe also Kara no Shoujo, to see some of your favourites characters see murdered in the most cruel ways. This one is really sad.

FSN, hands down. You either cry out of sheer happiness at what is going on or out of sheer depression at what is going on.

Utawarerumono. Does not really need explanation. Unique concept, lots of tragic deaths and depressing yet very hopeful ending.

Shari no Kuni, Sachi's ending made me tear up and the fan disc which expanded on the ending made me cry a tear of joy lol.

G-senjou no Maou, it didn't make me cry, but the ending was pretty touching

Muv Luv Alternative, there was a number of heartbreaking and heartwarming moments

Little Busters during Refrain is the only VN with the credit of making me shed tears over it.

G-Senjou came close at the very end.

I expect Grisaia might get some out of me as well at some point if there is a touching enough route. Still a work in progress though.

Rewrite (Lucia and Akane routes)

For visual novels, just play anything made by key, they are all good

Well if I had to choose just a few:

Little Busters Refrain is probably the most emotional one I can think of.
Some of Rewrite's routes are also pretty touching, Lucia's above all is a real cryfest.

Aiyoku no Eustia was harsh pretty much all the way through given how hopeless everything in it seems and the ending really got to me.

I also thought Cross†Channel got really damn sad towards the end despite how completely crazy it is on the surface.

Good if one wants to bore herself/himself to death, that is.

Out of all key novels, only AIR was decent, everything else was cliche-ridden loli ride with VERY forced soapy melodrama stuff that makes you wtf more than cry.

Haven't tried Rewrite yet, which looks a bit different from previous Key moeblob works, but from what I hear it rips off quite a few things from fsn.

Deleted my first post here. Didn't read OP's first post. :V

Anyway, still Little Busters. Or maybe any works from Key(Including Rewrite despite it's not a nakige, still you'll get lots of different emotions on each and every routes).

It's few to almost. Well, Rewrite is under the "whole plot reference" to F/SN.

I guess I couldn't agree more on this than F/SN when it comes to Type-Moon works despite I haven't played Tsukihime. I just got a glimpse of Hisui's route ending on YT and I did seriously feel something... probably sad even I don't know much about Hisui and her whole story, at that time that is.

But OP states that he/she wants also good art and Tsukihime's art is... not that good.

You sure you are talking about Hisui and not about
. I personally found the messed upness and tragedy of her story dwarf Hisui's.

For tsukihime its best to wait for VN remake that will come in next few years. It will have updated art.

A path you can go down of the girl named, Hanako. It is just heart tearing and made me cry for a while..

You sure don't read what OP post.

Anyway since I'm only playing a little VN the only one that strike me hard is Aoi route from Hoshizora no Memoria.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

It's definitely Hisui's since I never checked Kohaku's. Or maybe I was referring to Akiha's since the only Tsukihime route endings that I checked are only Hisui's and Akiha's.

And I already know there'll be a Tsukihime VN remake with a very good art and I'm eagerly waiting for its release.

I just finished Tsukihime today, and I have to say Hisui's route (both ends) were the most feely.
