I want quality anime. A little fanservice does not hurt, as long as it's not the main focus, but there are not many anime that has managed to do it. I can only think of Neon Genesis Evangelion and Brigadoon. They have so much more going in them than just ecchi.

Shows directly made to showcase fanservice, and tell you that at the beginning is fine. Shows that actually seem to be serious, and trick you into thinking there is something more, then continues to show tits all the time is bad. Also the timing has to not ruin the mood that the show is already in.

The last thing is I think people show too much in fan service at once sometimes, and it ruins the effect in the first place. Though I believe this is a taste thing, as I know a couple of friends who love huge tits thrown at the camera.

I'm so used to it that it's like it's not even there anymore.....except for in some cases.
Also, it depends on what kind of anime it is or even the tone of the scene. For example: Fanservice in the middle of a fight is one of my biggest pet-peeves in anime.

Considering fanservice implies it's done consciously and without intention for furthering the story, I don't like it.

If I really just want to see sexually arousing things, there's a lot of porn around. I don't need it pointlessly thrown in everything else.

I do like my fair share of fanservice and almost never mind it. And if someone decides to watch a show that's created for that purpose they shouldn't complain about it. It's there to please the fans after all.

The only instances when I would mind fanservice is when it's absolutely out of context. When I watch a serious show that interests me because of its story and what happens, I don't want minute long scenes only for fanservice that don't serve any purpose. If it's somewhat hidden or doesn't take any time away from the actual story I'm absolutely fine with it.

No one uses it in that meaning.

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Fanservice

"When nudity or sexual content is an expected part of a work, it's not fanservice; it's only when the nudity or sex is thrown in "just because" that fanservice becomes a part of the narrative. For example, nudity in a pornographic movie would not qualify, while Sharon Stone's infamous "beaver shot" in Paul Verhoeven's Basic Instinct would. Real fanservice is seldom explicit or graphic — that is the territory of pornography. Instead it is primarily there to "add a little extra" by teasing and titillating the audience. "

Anything is bad when it doesn't fit with the rest of the show.

Fanservice in a show you'd expect fanservice is not a problem. Fanservice in a show where you might not expect it but it would fit the mood, overall theme, and style of the show? Also fine. Fanservice in something where it's got no place is fucking stupid.

You clearly know the context OP is asking about. Arguing semantics in a situation where you're purposefully ignoring the context is a pretty fucking stupid thing to do - let alone capslocking about it. Basically, the one not getting it is you - almost every phrase, term, and word has multiple meanings dependent entirely on when and how they are used, "fanservice" is one of those.

Your English is pretty terrible, so I suppose it might be that you genuinely don't grasp the difference due to not fully understanding the language.

I typically dislike fanservice. When I tried showing my friend the trailer for the dub of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, because I think Kodaka kind of sounds like James Sunderland, he messed with me like the rest of the day, making Hentai jokes, because they showed quite a lot of the fanservice in the trailer. It certainly can take away from important moments, and in general I think it takes down the quality of animes.

Worst of all is the frequency of erotic scenarios involving an ordinary highschool guy. Like that shit can NEVER happen IRL.

Fan service is also doesn't progress anything. It's a cocktease AND it also doesn't help the plot in anyway. Either go full out, or don't do it at all.

I guess as long as my dick is happy I am probably fine with it. But problem is that its so unimaginitve it hardly ever is happy (did I just make a little big pun?).
For example I really liked the french kissing in Campione, I think it was some of the hottes fanservice Ive seen in a while. But on the other hand you could show me 20 mins of pantyshots and bathtowel scenes I would never get impressed. After seeing them for like 20000 times it just looses it appeal.

Yeah I actually really liked that anime for its fanservice because it looked manly and cool instead of childish--not that it didn't have its standard array of ever-present cliche childish anime fanservice.

I see nothing wrong with fanservice, although it depends on the type of fanservice that is presented. I'm okay with surprise cameo appearances in shows from time to time and maybe a little skin from female characters from time to time. However, I do have a problem with shows that manipulate fanservice as a means to spur more interest, and by that I mean shows that display constant nudity just for the sake of garnering more interest (For example, Highschool DxD). Although in some ways it is effective, it still is a prime example of one of many things wrong with the anime industry today.

"Boring 100% Story based shit"

What the hell are you talking about?

Have you actually watched non-fanservice anime? I'm sorry, but your claim just seems very ridiculous.

Most anime don't need to rely on fanservice to exist.
Ex:
Steins;Gate
Fate/Zero
Code Geass (not R2)
Welcome to the NHK
Darker than Black
Psycho Pass
5 Centimeters Per Second
AnoHana
Detroit Metal City

Etc....

Again, my suggestions are subjective, but it's ridiculous to say anime without fanservice is all shit.
It's natural for a person to deny he's a failure as a human being. That's why he searches for somebody who is more miserable than himself. That's why so much animosity exists on the internet. Those who aren't able to find a more miserable person, turn to the internet and call other people losers, even though they've never met. Just to make themselves feel superior. isn't that pathetic? There's a sense of security that comes from speaking badly of someone else. But that isn't true salvation. — Tatsuhiro Satou
