Programs like AnyDVD HD will bypass that. But I was under the impression that while Japan is Region A, most anime BDs aren't actually region-restricted anyway.

Is that the actual film or something else?

The BD/DVD for the actual film will not come out until near end of June. This is a special DVD which covers 4 episodes of the TV series (ep. 575 to 578) that have connection with the movie. The idea is that anybody who wants to see the film should watch those 4 episodes first. Since this is not the actual film, it is not surprising that its sales is much more modest than what the film is expected to sell.

But I also want to add something: Over the past few days, things for Gargantia are not looking that great. Its preorder ranking is now BELOW Valvrave (shudder). Also, its total BD/DVD point estimate from Stalker is now overtaken (albeit barely) by HaMaou (Hataraku Maou-sama):

And yes, you can change your region code, but there's a limit to the number of times you can do it, and my laptop is the only Blu-Ray player in our household at the moment. So I don't really want to set it so that I can't watch anything else.

Oh well, it was a low priority anyway.

I don't really want to be buying more software just for the very occasional region restricted anime that I may want to buy either.
